Okay to Dine out – I have to admit that this restaurant has its unique design but the service I received on Sunday was not up to par. The whole staff seems a little unorganized. The server tried her best, I believe, but it was not pleasant when I left the restaurant. Overall, it was okay to dine out.

Nice Atmosphere – This place has great coffee and an excellent wine list. It's a great place to go for lunch with your girlfriends. I also like the patio in the evening. Very cool.

All Looks, Stick to the Bar – Atmosphere: The place is gorgeous - all soaring ceilings and mood lighting. We sat on the patio. The smell was tolerable -- similar to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Unfortunately ordering was a production -- the patio has inadequate lighting to read the menus. The servers should carry flashlights. We were seated next to a speaker, it wasn't too loud, but it was spewing bad House music.

Food: We ordered 2 apps, bacon wrapped dates and the hummus with pita. The hummus was not bad, just not worth $7. The dates were okay -- the bacon should have been crispier.

My entree, salmon, was a disaster. The sharp greens and horseradish sauce were a nice combo, but the dish was very oily. Salmon was also a poor choice for the flavor profile -- seabass or tilapia would have been better.

The others had the tagliatelle with meatballs, the pasta was a little overdone, and the meat a little pink. It was just okay as well.

For dessert we had strawberry shortcake and the lemon meringue, from the market menu, and the peanut butter cup. It was pretty to look at, but it tasted as if it had been previously frozen, and the chocolate lacked flavor. The espressos we ordered were nearly unpalatable, like they had done all 4 shots from the same grounds.

Service: Server was friendly but not efficient. Coffee was served without sugar and spoons, no replacement knife after the apps, too many check-ins, corrected (wrongly) a pronunciation of a menu item. Timing of courses was fine, though I'm growing less forgiving of pauses between entrees. Especially considering 3 people were eating the same meal. That leads me to think it is a management issue.

I'm a huge foodie, and have dined at many of the top 50 restaurants in the U.S. I've also had good experiences with other Fox Restaurants -- while the food isn't "top 50", the overall experience works for an evening out with friends. I don't think we'll be returning to Ivy any time soon.

I'm torn – So I've been here during the week,and it was great. attentive service, great food, all around good experience. I've been on a saturday and it was pretty terrible. Packed, loud, bad service, and the food was lacking...something. I guess its the curse of a trendy new place in scottsdale.

good for lonely slightly used hearts, but not food – well first of all the NOISE, you can't hear a thing. Patrons from the bar were literally on my back I could hear them, not my wife

Second: the food, not even comparable to other restaurants in Scottsdale like Zinc bistro, Greenehouse, North, not to mention the resort restuarants. The water was so bad youc ould taste bleach in the sangria

And to round it up very expensive. My bill: 2 people got 2 prosecco's glasses (they could not sit us for misterious reasons since tables were free so we drunk wine), 2 glasses of mineral water (the bottle was not left on the table) a flatbread (let me tell you about that in a sec OK?) one dish of pasta and one of lamb- (no bread or olive oil or tablecloth were on the table) for us the total was 101 dollars :excuse me?

Now details: flatbread is supposed to be a thin crust glilled, this was thick -with cheap cheese- and fried not good, If you ever try "AL Forno" in Providence, RI you can see this was sooo bad God what a difference.

THe lamb: nothing quite fused in the dish as it should have: seemed everything was out of a can

The agnolotti pasta: not cooked right, salsa with corn good in some truckers stop not in downtown tony Scottsdale

We were seated in the worst place between the bar and the only way for waiters to get through to the patio. WIll never go back, unless one of us goes senile or irremediably of poor taste and wants to pick up slightly used lonely partners dressed or sluttishly (she) or like the King of Queen (He). Good luck at that too.

A great spot to spend an evening and enjoy the food – As a special treat, a friend took me to Olive and Ivy for dinner on a week night. I cannot be more complimentary of the restaurant, service and food. It is a beautiful setting, the staff were more than polite and our waiter was very cheerful and friendly. We had a shrimp appetizer to share and he divided it for us. Having been in Morocco last summer, I tried the painted lamb and it was outstanding. When I asked for a doggie bag including the bone, the waiter was so sweet and suggested lamb bones were not good for a dog, but he would remove the meat and include the veggies and send it home with me. It was even better the next day. BUT, had I read the reviews, I would never have gone to Olive and Ivy. Now, I am glad I went and will recommend it highly to one and all and will return at least a few times a year! GREAT restaurant. This is the first time I have ever reviewed a restaurant, but I feel Olive and Ivy is exceptional and deserves my comments.

Deplorable service. – Although it is a beautiful restaurant, and the ambience is wonderful, we were shocked at how bad the service was. It was obvious that our server wasn't the least bit interested in providing prompt service. He had to be reminded to provide drink refills (a big no-no in my book ), and the food took way too long for what we ordered (bagels, oatmeal). The food wasn't even that great.

I've read the reviews on here, and figured it wouldn't hurt to take a chance. They were right about the bad service!

Over promised, under delivered – The setting and location promises a nice romantic meal amidst the candlelight. Aside from the lighting, this place fell short of the rest. Romantic? NO. Unless you consider sitting in a sea of singles checking out everything that walks by and loud dance music romantic. The patio would have been nice if you didn't smell the stench of the canal. And as for the food... less than mediocre. My boyfriend's porkloin was undercooked and was so bland that he needed to pour salt on it. The side dish was overcooked rice swimming in butter, hardly appetizing. I had the "painted" lamb, which was supposed to be served "Moroccon style". Sounds promising, but it lacked the flavor and spice of a Moroccon dish, or any dish for that matter. Further, it was served in a deep bowl making it difficult to eat. I would NEVER go back and would NEVER recommend this place to anyone.

Disappointed on first visit. – The restaurant and it's setting are wonderful. My wife and I came in for a late lunch on Sunday, January 7th and the first thing I did is step into a large amount of gum right in front of the hostess table. I told the hostess and she said she would take care of it. She showed us to our seats and when my wife picked up the small plate in front of her there were crumbs and sticky material under the plate. The hostess wiped it away with a napkin and then sent someone over to clean it up. The waiter did not introduce himself but seemed friendly. The service was a little slow particularly since they were not busy. I had the flat iron steak and scrambled eggs which were good but my wife did not get the chicken she order with her salad. The waiter brought it later on a separate plate. When the bill came there was a hamburger on it which we did not order. The correction was made on the bill. As we walked out the gum was still in front of the hostess table. I called and asked for a manager about 4 hours after our experience and the hostess asked what it was in regard to. I told her I wanted to discuss my experience there. I was put on hold and no one ever picked up. I waited at least 10 minutes with not even any music to listen to. Therefore, I felt compelled to write this review.

Big Disappointment – I was really disappointed after hearing such great things about this restaurant. We finally were able to get reservations for New Year's Eve. The best thing about the evening were the drinks. My husband had the salmon that was on the set menu. We jokingly began to call it "bloody salmon". It had beets in it but the presentation made it look like the salmon was bleeding. Everyone else at our table thought the food was just OK. It may be because of the set menu that evening so I'll be nice. The worst part of the evening was the service. Our waiter could have cared less about us! He seemed rushed, in a hurry, not accessible when we needed additional items at our table, and annoyed when asked questions about the menu. Wow, this was our first experience there. After eating at many of the other Fox restaurants, this was the most disappointing experience. North/Bloom are still the best!
