Valentine's Day horror!!!!
My family of four had a reservation for 7pm on Feb 14,2013. We were 10 min late but did call ahead to pre-warn. We were told that would be no problem. We arrived precisely at 7:08pm. We were seated immediately and greeted pleasantly but that's where the great Customer Service ended. Our waitress was one of two that was staffed for one of the busiest nights of the year. She was also new to Vincent's. We were only given garlic knots and our drinks. 30 min later, I had to ask for our salads. 45 min later I noticed severla to go orders being checked out as well as other patrons who arrived after us receiving their food. I then a.sked our waitress what was going on and all she could says was she was sorry they are really busy.
After complaining and expressing our disappointment, the waitress went back to have the cook make a cheese pizza for my 6 yeaar old. At this point it was not 8:15p,m. An hour later. 10 min later when the pizza came, we were told that it would be another 10 min for our food, UNACCEPTABLE I said! The manager's wife(I think) came over and gave a half-ass apology and then stated that it would be 20 more min!!!! At that point we told her again of how rediculous that was and that we were leaving. Management never came over to apologize and/or to offer a solution. We will NOT patronize Vincent's ever again!
Prior to this incident, we loved this place and have eaten there on several occasions.
We love Vincent's. It is a great local restaurant with a nice family atmosphere. The food is authentic and delicious, and the wait staff is always kind. I highly recommend Vincent's for dining in or take out. Three other locally owned and reasonably pizza/Italian restaurants recently went of business in North Raleigh. Let' make sure Vincent's sticks around or else we will all be eating at the big chain restaurants for more money and less quality.

Vincent's.....you embarrassed your customers and shamelessly made them financially responsible for issues you have with ZSpotlight. You made a family of five pay full price for their meal even though they presented a ZSpotlight $50. certificate that was unexpired. You even returned to their table after refusing their ZSpotlight certificate and said, 'I know you're mad'. Well, what did you expect?. Not only did you force them to pay a $70. bill, you told them to contact ZSpotlight themselves. You greedily and unnecessarily took money from a family.
Here's what happened.... my husband and I had dinner at Vincent's on Jan. 12, 2012 and paid using a $50. ZSpotlight certificate. Vincent's accepted the certificate.
Eleven days later, on Jan 23, 2012 my daughter, husband and three children had dinner at Vincent's and also paid using a $50. certificate from ZSpotlight. The manager, Dominic, refused to accept it and made them pay their entire bill of approx. $70. Dominic claimed they weren't doing business with ZSpotlight any more.
According to Dominic, ZSpotlight was not supposed to issue certificates after November 2011, but if you look on ZSpotlight's website, they are still available.
This is just wrong. Shame on Vincent's for refusing to accept an unexpired certificate that was paid for through ZSpotlight.
Why is it the customer's fault if ZSpotlight and Vincent's have issues with each other? And why should the customer have to pay Vincent's $70. out of their pocket when they had an unexpired ZSpotlight certificate that had already been paid for?
I called Vincent's last night after my daughter and husband left. I spoke with Dominic and asked why Vincent's accepted my ZSpotlight certificate 11 days earlier, and refused to accept one now. Twice, Dominic said, 'I know your daughter was pissed off'. He went into a long story about an issue between Vincent's and ZSpotlight. Not only was Dominic's choice of language unprofessional, but Vincent's should have accepted their certificate before they left the restaurant. Any issue between a merchant and ZSpotlight is not the fault of the customer.
Dominic reluctantly offered to honor the ZSpotlight certificate on another occasion and 'lose the money' as he put it, and because I was the 'mother' calling. Vincent's needs to do the right thing and refund this family their $50. instead of telling them to drive 30 miles to come back in. Do you think they honestly want to come back? I'm appalled at Vincent's lack of ethics.
Doesn't Honor ZSpotlight – Sorry to say we didn't have a great night at Vincent's. My family of 5 came by tonight to use our ZSpotlight X-Mas gift. Dominic denied us and we drove 30 miles from Clayton to pay $70 rather than $17. There was nothing posted in the restaurant stating they had discontinued a relationship with ZSpotlight. The entire encounter was uncomfortable and we're not interested in hearing about your issues with the ABC Board or ZSpotlight. Coupons are still being sold on ZSpotlight as of this writing. Family members ate at the same restaurant with the same coupon 11 days earlier and it was honored.
Whatever dispute that may occur between the merchant and ZSpotlight should not be the responsibility of the customer, who is a gift recipient. Shame on Vincent's for turning this into an unpleasant dining experience for me and my family
Food was great – Went with a party of 10. Ate everything from cheese pizza to shrimp and veal. The veal was excellent and the pasta was just right. Wine selection was good. Staff was good. Food was perfect. Would recommend!
Even with a coupon, it is still not worth it! – The food was ok at best. The pizza seemed very lacking. The meatballs in the meatball sub seemed like a bad food service purchase. Maybe a shortcut your Grandfather would not take? Our server was the bartender. She seemed very dimwitted. There was some commotion - yelling at employees, far from family atmosphere. The desserts also looked like they were way past their fresh date. Great wine selection. The worst bathrooms!
Very disappointing from a place touted by so many of my friends.
noodles and ketchup – Never go here for dinner! They charge way too much for cafeteria grade food. The chicken parmesan was floating in water and my wife had chicken marsala that looked like a bowl of soup. The bill was just as much as a chain like the olive garden. At least there you know what you are getting. To top it off, the owner was yelling at his waiter so that everyone could here him. I am far from a snob, but where is the professionalism! I guess their hot bar for lunch is their bread and butter because there dinner is at best a joke. Price wise and quality.
When will they recover from the fire? – I used to visit Vincent's on Capital Blv at least weekly. I loved it for what it was... a place where you stood in line,placed an order & within a few minutes the waitress would find your table & deliver your food with a smile. Their pizza was always crispy & most everything was good.
My recent visit to Vincent's on Creedmore was the first time I have had a food item which was better than the old Vincent's. I had a really good meat lasagna. Unfortunatly, the service would have been better had I stood in line & the food was delivered. If they want to be full service, they have not learned how to do it yet.
Worst meal family ever had – Service was poor to non-existent. Food was barley warm the garlic rolls were hard like bricks, cheese ravioli is the same you get in grocery store freezer section. This is not homemade italian... it is all reheated and pre processed food... these people are trying to charge top dollar and serving barley reheated food.... Disappointing ripoff.
authentic italian – went for the first time and had the portobello ravioli which was excellent. went back the week after and had te roasted chicken canelloni, which was very good but next time i will specify -no roasted red peppers or lite on the peppers.A friend ordered the gnochi, which he said were awesome-looked great, but not house made, they looked store bought (vaccum sealed) which is okay for home but not for a restaurant -they should make them fresh. The atmosphere is great- really down to earth, family type and they have a very good wine list.
