Tips for Giss's Cafe
Giss's Restaurant on William Cannon. Giss's food is really quite good if you can get over the inconsistent service. Once in a while you will get a good waiter or waitress, but often the customer service is lacking. Drinks often go unfilled & the food can sometimes take a while. There is a sign that says to Seat Yourself that you almost run into at the front door, but that doesn't keep them from hollering at you to, "Sit anywhere you like!" I think the main problem is that they are often understaffed. I've seen waitresses waiting on customers, bringing out orders, ringing up checks, & even bussing their own tables when it's been a little busy. I must say the food is really good or else we wouldn't keep going back, but 2 tvs going & along with music is not my idea of an enjoyable atmosphere. I really don't want to watch CNN while I'm eating. I think it would be okay to turn on one tv if there was a football game on or something, but i don't want to watch gory news stories while I eat. Maybe, they could just turn off the tv, most people aren't really watching it anyway. Adding a bit more choices to the menu would also help.
