Husbands birthday lunch was quite a disappointment. The salad looked and tasted like it came right out of a plastic bag. It wasn't eatable, left the entire thing barely touched. Hoping things would get better, I ordered BROILED catfish and I was totally disgusted when the waitress put a plate of anemic looking gummy fish in front of me served with a potato covered in cheese, which I was told was made in advance and could not be made to order. The catfish was totally white and looked far from broiled, tasted as though it had been boiled not broiled. Not a happy Bday Im afraid as Hubbys meal turned out to be a silver dollar sized piece of Amberjack. Bland and mushy. I'm afraid we didn't even finish the meal after leaving with an over 30 dollar LUNCH bill. Service was cordial, even though the restaurant was nearly empty. Time to get a new Chef.
Wonderful Seafood Dishes! – This place has a great location on Water St. in Madisonville. Morton's is a must-stop if you are in the neighborhood. Great bar and fantastic daily specials. I love their Seafood Salad - piled high with fresh Gulf Shrimp and Crabmeat! I also got one of their specialty salads recently - a spinach salad with lovely and delicate fried onion rings on top - DELICIOUS!
GREAT ATMOSPHERE! – I have been dining at Mortons seafood for years.. right now the only problem is that it is closed for 2 weeks until June 30th 2006... Appetizers are great and although some of the servers really arent too bright, the bussers are really good and always seem to give us outstanding service one way or another. We never have to wait for refills or anything. Although there is limited parking and sometimes quite a wait we always seem to have a great experience!
DECK seating provides a great outdoor relaxing atmosphere.
GREAT FAMILY ATMOSPHERE
I have been dining at this restaurant for quite a few years. On a recent visit, my wife ordered some sort of seafood salad. The shrimp on the salad looked exactly like those that come out of can (very tiny). The entree portions were small, much more so than in the past and the prices were high. I would no longer recommend this restaurant, even though I have probably recommended Morton's in the past over 100 times to friends and family.
They still make great onion rings! However the dining experience was very disappointing!!!
