If you want highlights in your hair avoid this place! I came in with 2 inch roots hoping to get a retouch. When the colorist (Luka) was done (after 2h) guess what? I did not see any difference!!!!! I had exactly the same roots as I had before. I have no idea what was he doing..but clearly NOTHING to the color. As an explanation I was blamed for not washing my hair prior to the appointment!!!!! Wait ...isn'it his job to wash my hair and evaluate what it needs before applying color?!!!! ... Not mentioning that I had to wait 30min because they messed up the appointments. Is this professional? not really!
Yes, I was offered to have it redone the next day. But honestly I don't think this person has any idea about color so I would rather avoid a catastrophe, save time, money and have it done somewhere else...huh!
Ask for Tommy! – I decided today to make a big change and get my hair cut short, after several years of growing it out. As a new mom, I decided that it was time for a lower maintenance 'do and less accessible hair for my baby to pull on. Tommy did a fabulous job! My hair looks great and feels great, and Tommy made me feel comfortable and was a great conversationalist to boot!
Horrible service – I called to see if there was a long line and was put on "hold", apparently they can't afford, or figure out how to use, an actual hold function so they just put the phone on the counter. I listened to the last half of the conversation I was interrupting by calling for a haircut for 2 minutes, and then the inside of a pocket for another 4. My call was obviously forgotten so I hung up and tried to call back. I got a busy signal numerous times and then was forwarded to their voicemail. Customer service has been shoddy at best in the past with this place, but today was unbelievable.
No complaints about the average haircuts.
This barbershop's menu of services includes beard trims, shampoos and hair coloring. – In Short
A large, stuffed buffalo head presides over this hipster barbershop, where cement floors and hair cutting stations made from antique furniture merge with contemporary murals to create a classic, modern aesthetic. A steady stream of music plays up the shop's causal vibe, as do the laid-back staffers that strive to find the best cut to play up their clientele's personal style.
Relaxed atmosphere, Good cuts, Enjoyable Experience. – The first time I went in to Rudy's, I had my hair cut by Mike (long hair, tatooed arms, beard), and I have asked for him ever since. I recently went from having hair down to my lower back to having it no more than a couple inches long. With such a drastic change, I am a bit jumpy when I get my hair cut, but he listens to what I want, does a good job, and gives good conversation as a bonus. And with prices of about 20 dollars, I can afford to leave a decent tip!
It isn't a sleak pricey salon. It is a relaxed barbershop with good haircuts.
Note: The comments here about the receptionist may be out of date. I have had nothing but pleasant experiences.
Maybe good for a quick mens cut...beware women – Easy to get in, called ahead and they put me "On the List". I have a fairly simple bob cut with slight layer on the ends, just wanted a simple trim, sounded easy. Gentleman that cut my hair said he had been cutting hair for 17 years although the 20 minutes he spent on my hair ended with a VERY uneven cut (inch difference in length right to left) and only one side actually was layered. Ended up spending a significant amount of money on a simple hair cut by going and getting it cut at a different facility were they spent an hour on my hair and it's gorgeous.
My drastic change couldn't have gone better! – I had down-to-my-waist naturally brown hair that I'd never dyed or processed, and was looking for a shoulder length, blonde scene-y layered fantasticness. My stylist's name was Eric (formerly of Bishop's) and I was taken aback by his attention to detail and knowledge. I tried my best to explain what I wanted (without any pictures, even) and he spent the next five hours foiling, toiling and styling me to perfection. This was a VERY big deal to me, seeing as I was about to take thirteen mousy brown inches of history off of my body, and he made me feel like a hot blonde rocker chick by the end of the night. All in all, the atmosphere (rad music, great chairs/mirrors/church pew waiting section) was awesome, along with the friendly employees that all lent their advice toward making me over. I'll definitely be telling all my friends and coming back in a month when I want something even more different.
Good cuts, but you have to know the special rules – Rudy's advertises itself as a walk-ins only place, but that's far from the truth. You can call ahead and ask the receptionist to put your name on "the list" for a specified time. That way when you arrive by that time or later, you'll get the next available chair. Those who arrived before you, but didn't have their name on the list get to ride pine, or in this case the oak church pew, for a while longer.
If you don't know about this, it's extremely frustrating. Depending on who the receptionist is that day, you can make your so called non-appointment appointment either only an hour ahead or anytime that day. If you can name a particular stylist, that'll also garner you certain special priviledges.
The haircuts are usually really good. However, getting into a chair without blowing a gasket because certain folk get cuts like in a school lunch line can be challenging.
Awesome CUT & Color by Emily!! – You gotta get your hair done by Emily from Florida. She's awesome. Her meticulous detail in cutting and color. You'll love the end result for sure. I've been searching like crazy for a hairstylist and never went back twice to the same stylist ever. But for Emily..I absolutely love her taking care of my hair and i'll go to her every chance i get. Thanks girl! The price are such a steal as well!
