Great food, TERRIBLE service – I love this restaurant's food. I am Brazilian and I know good food when I see it. BUT the service is the worst in the whole NYC!!!! Never fails. They will treat you like they don't want you to come back. I wish this restaurant was managed by someone who cares. It's a shame.
Brazil Grill: enjoy at risk to fraudulent charges – My boyfriend and I ended up at Brazil Grill after stopping by their sister restaurant Bossa Nova Brazil, and finding that due to poor business they were no longer hosting live music. The manager at Bossa Nova was apologetic and helpfully suggested we try Brazil Grill located a few blocks away. Overall experience at the Brazil Grill was fine, I enjoyed the music and our drinks at the bar.
But, a week later I noticed something strange on my bank statement. They had doubled the tip amount and then double charged the bill to my account. If either of these issues had occurred separately I would surmise that it was an innocent error. But combined… I don’t think so.
When I finally got a manager on the phone she was completely unapologetic. With a dismissive attitude she told me, “call your bank, we can’t do anything.” Of course, my bank made everything right in the end. But I will never go back, and I’ll trash talk them until they go under. I guess when business gets bad their solution is to steal from the customers.
DO NOT EAT HERE – Where to start?
We were conned into eating here by a host on the streets who told us the meats were fresh and still being cooked. (this was at 11pm)
We were then lead to a basement where 1 other couple was partaking in the awful stench filled dungeon dining experience. (the smell was terrible)
The meats brought out were reheated from earlier in the night, dry, and fatty. This elegant dining experience included a side of fried bananas and fries. FRIES
We lost our appetite after realizing that the meats actually tasted like the awful stench.
Overall this was the worst meal I've ever had.
I paid $70 for crap!!!!!
I wish I could give 0 stars
best brazilian food.... not! – I agree with Carolina I went with my Portuguese friends and I felt like we are Nobles on how they treat us but after 3 weeks after I went with asian friends, they ignore us to the max and the drinks we got have human hair in it and the food are terrible.. you can distinguished its frozen produce....
You get what you pay for – Yes this is probably one of the cheaper Brazillian options in the city, but it is not worth spending the money. The food was not good quality, particularly the meats which were very fatty. The service was also pretty slow and we were sent to the basement which had a dungeon feel. If you want Brazillian BBQ, you might as well go all out.
Too expensive for what you get – After reading the reviews we should have never eaten here. The food was glorified hospital food. The fish and vegtables were the frozen type and dry. The mozerella and tomato salad were so dry and laced with heavy garlicky sauce. The music was the worst I ever heard. The basement was an eyesore with people eating down there. I would never go back there. I wil never go to a restaurant again with a host dragging people in off the street. What a waste of $90 for nothing. Could have eaten at an elegant place for these prices.
Double Standard – If you are a regular or speak portuguese you have decent service with decent food. Which happened to me when I went with some Brazilian friends to eat there. The next time I went with my fiance, neither one of us speaking portuguese. We were ignored for the most part. And when we did have someone at the table we were treated very rudely. The menu stated thta tps would be included in larger parties. We were two and were charged 18%. The food was so-so. But the service was horrendous. Extremely dissapointed.
Romantic theater district spot with great food and specialty drinks – Brazil Grill has gotten a number of bad reviews, but I have never had an unpleasant experience there. It's a nice restaurant for a romantic evening out or for entertaining guests. Although some of the fare is Americanized, I have found all their food to be outstanding (the stroganoff is my favorite). The list of specialty drinks is extensive, and the drinks are strong -- you'll get your money's worth. Try a Caipirinha (the national drink of Brazil). If you are looking to have a quiet, romantic dinner, avoid nights when there is live music -- and if you plan on going during a peak hour, make a reservation.
Great Service and great food!!! – The place is a nice romantic place with great food. Great for parties and very accomodating.
The portions are decent.
Live Music on weekends can be a little loud so it's difficult to have a conversation.
It is weird though that they don't have a manager during the day, he comes for dinner only.
Don't hesitate to ask your waiter for suggestions, they're very helpfull.
Rude.. – The food was ok, the ambiance and all even though this restaurant is not so spacious. But the staff was soooo rude. They pretty much forgot about my party of 6 who sat us all the way in the back. We were ready to order and they ignored us. When asked for certain dishes, the waiter got annyoed and would dismiss us. Its really a shame since i love Brazilian food.
