I am the owner if Serenity. I hope you will give us another chance please call the salon and ask for Jill. I will be more than happy to help. I am sorry if this happened to you. Our clients mean everything to us at Serenity.
I work nearby and have had several of my own clients rave about this place, so I decided to give it a shot. I walked in and stood by the front desk for at least a full 2 minutes before anyone even bothered to say hello. A young girl came from the back and asked if she could help me. I asked if someone might have time for a haircut, and she told me no. A stylist who was working on someone piped up and said that if it was just a cut, she could do it, so the young girl asked for my name and I gave it to her. As there is no pricing up in the salon, I asked for a menu of services or price list, and she told me that a haircut was $35. I said, for a trim? She said a wash, cut and style was $35. I told her that was fine, but I only needed a wet trim, how much was that? She went to the stylist in question, who looked over at me, and then said something to the young girl. The young girl came back to the desk and said, it's still going to be $35.
I told them no thanks and left.
I didn't expect "box" salon pricing, but I did expect to be treated with respect instead of the disdainful attitude I got. I also expect that a 15 minute wet trim not cost the same as a 45 minute wash, cut and style. If stylists are making $35 every 15 minutes, then I certainly went into the wrong line of work...
I was excited about my first visit to Serenity as I live nearby and was hopeful I’d found a new salon. Unfortunately I was severely disappointed with the service I received. From the moment I sat in Ellen's chair she started criticizing the condition of my hair, repeatedly telling me how I had destroyed it-while shaking her head and sucking her teeth. This perplexed me considering I don’t color/dye or use a lot of heat and chemicals on my hair, which I told her. She never offered any services or helpful suggestions on how to improve my hair; just plenty of criticism and disdain which I found odd and lazy considering she’s supposed to be a professional stylist. Smart businesses know that money is money- it all spends the same; just imagine how many hundreds they might’ve made off me if the stylist were savvy enough to recommend routine visits to “restore” my hair to its former glory. Instead I left feeling frustrated that I’d just paid $35 to be treated so rudely.
My Favorite – Have always enjoyed spa services and was leary of new ownership . The new owners are wonderful they made the transition painless. They offer better deals on all spa services and their commitment to customer service is second to none. I am glad that I Gave them the opportunity to fulfill all my spa needs and foresee a long relationship with them.So Thank You to the WHOLE Family. I will see you soon.
Great Hair Salon – My family and I have been going to Jill for over 6 years now. When she switched to Serenity Hair salon we followed her. We were very excited to hear that she is now one of the owners. I dont know what the other customer is talking about in regards to the receptionists being rude and not confirming appointments. I always get a confirmation call the day before. In the past month my family and I have been to Serenity at least 6 times for different services with Jill. We have ALWAYS been greeted with a warm welcome. I never tried the spa services but now that Jill is the owner I will be giving it a try. I highly recommend Serenity to anyone that wants a wonderful relaxing experience.
Under New Management! – I am one for the new owners of Serenity. We are a family owned small business who purchased Serenity on 4/1/11. We currently are trying to help 17 full and part time people earn wages to support their families. As in any new venture, some people are resistant to change. On 5/13 one of our hairstylists mentioned above decided to move on and seek employment elsewhere. We at Serenity wish her and her family the best in their future.
Under the new management we have made some changes, come see them for yourself!
So Relaxing – I went for a Swedish Massage right after the holidays and I must say, they made all of that post-holiday stress just melt away. This spa really knows how to treat their customers, and the location is great, for me any way. There doesn't seem to be many spa's not in Cary or north Raleigh, so the 10 minute drive is a blessing in itself. For a totally relaxing time, give Serenity a try, you'll be glad you did
A hidden gem ! – Being a new spa, these folks really go out of their way to make your experience a wonderful and relaxing time. I had a one hour Swedish Massage and loved every second. The therapist was very professional, and asked me about my specific needs, which I appreciated. After reading other reviews, I've noticed that not everyone gets such great service from salon staff. So go to this little undiscovered jewel, you'll be glad you did.
