Worth going back to – I've been going to Urban for the past four years and while the business part seems a bit disorganized - the shop hadn't really entered the computer age last time I was there - the people are friendly and Adam (the doctor) knows how to fit the right contact. Even better, he'll explain *why* he thinks that particular contact is the right choice for you and do his best to offer you a fair price.

Beyond Disappointing – For someone who doesn't have a lot of free time, this is not the place for you. I went to Urban Optical last summer to get a check-up and new contacts/glasses. I originally saw Adam (who took a personal call on his cell phone during my exam) and he ordered the wrong contacts for me 3 times. I went back a forth time to see a different Dr and finally got the correct perscription...however it took two tries to get the order correct. My time is valuable to me and so are my eyes. I will never be going back to this place and I don't recommend you do either.

As we have hundreds of contact lens samples in stock (mostly for non astigmatic patients) this patient must have had an astigmatic toric contact lens fitting. Which leads me to tell you that just one brand of toric contacts comes upward to 45000 combinations. What patients consider "wrong", may be the contacts I attended to order for them may have not worked due to excessive movement or lack of comfort. I usually do my best to expedite this situation but it doesnt always happen. The biggest problem is a lack of continuity in care due to some who say their eyes are valuable to them and then show up 4x over 8 months to get something done. Its funny in a MD's office if they don't "cure" you the first time not only do you go back and wait two hours they charge you again too.

As for the cell call its possible if it is very important (as no one calls me at my office). My patients will answer if their spouses/kids/etc call and are respectful about it too. I do have a life beyond work.

Good clerks, bad doctor – Urban Optical is a good place to find stylish frames, but I'm not a fan of the service. The clerks are all good, but Dr. Friedland is always in a rush. I'm light sensitive and always have a difficult time getting my eyes dilated and having the light shined in. Dr. Friedland gave up on giving me my exam - meaning that I have to wait a full year for my insurance to cover having the health of my eyes checked. I've never had a doctor "give up." Most are patient and work with you to accomplish the task at hand. He also made me come back three times because he kept on running out of time for my appointment.

He gave me a good contact lens prescription, and I'm happy with the frame selection, but now that I have my stylish frames, I'm never going back. The eye exam is too important to miss!

I can't say i recollect this particular patient but it seems all in all coming to us was a good experience. After all they liked the service, glasses, and contacts they received. I feel it would be unlikely i would "give up" on a patient i would be willing to see three times to fit for contacts as it is not uncommon for a patient to need follow up appointments and care. Also what one might think is rushing might be only needing five minutes for a follow up appointment as that was all the time I needed to evaluate the patient. That said I will say the patient is always right and it is still true i don't remember what actually happened here. If this patient is reading this they can feel free to get their eyes dilated or redilated for no charge with my associate Dr. Lo as I would like to remedy this situation and make you happy. You may also feel free to call and discuss this with me direct if you want.

great spot – The service was perfect. I walked in and felt no pressure to buy anything in the store even though I must have tried on 50 pairs of glasses. The staff let me do my thing until I asked for help at which point they were VERY helpful. Good selection in styles and price. I'll definitely go there for my next pair of glasses (and I'm very picky).

Urban Optical - great service, friendly and attentive staff – I've gotten my glasses from Urban Optical for nearly 10 years now. The only time I lapsed going to Adam & crew was when I was with my optician girlfriend, who gave me a better break than, frankly, anyone could. Since she's closed her business, I've been back at Urban Optical and can't think of going anywhere else, although I look all over for cool frames. In the event that I find something I might like better elsewhere, I know they'll go the extra mile to order what I want, or find something that will meet my needs.

I also have various needs with frames: progressive lenses, strong prescription and a super small bridge means that I'm not an easy to serve customer. Other places have made me feel that my needs are "too demanding," at Urban Optical, they work with "what is" and satisfy.

They're really great. No need to go anywhere else!

Good selection, Some good customer service – The frame selection is quite large for such a small store. The frames are fairly priced as was the exam. The doctor is very "cool", down to earth. The salespeople were friendly and helpful, except for one who was extremely rude to myself and another customer whom she was helping, answering with an occasional sarcastic "alright then", when not agreeing with her choice for a frame. The fact that she didn't speak clear english was a con also. I would go back, but would only let a certain few help me with my pick.

Best optical place in Brooklyn – My experience at Urban Optical was great. The opticians are highly experienced and very helpful. They are also extremely friendly. The optometrist, Adam, is very nice, and will do anything in his power to satisfy the customer. Unlike others, they really care. I would definitely recommend them. I refuse to go anywhere else for my optical needs.

good place for glasses – very happy with the service here. The staff was very friendly and concerned with my mothers eye problems. The dr did a very thorough exam. It lasted over 1/2 an hour.
