Barbara is a savior! I am new to the area, recently moving here few months ago from NYC. I was in search for a hairdresser to touch up my roots. I had been hesitant to get my hair done in a new area, especially coming from an area like NYC, but my roots needed touching up. I first decided to try a salon closer to where I live - BIG mistake. They completely trashed the color of my hair, did not know how to fix it. I was devastated. After a quick search online I decided I'd drive about 40 min out of the way to give Barbara a try. She squeezed me into her schedule and was more than accommodating to help me. She listened to what I wanted and was very knowledgeable and professional in offering her opinion on how to salvage the color. Her confidence and demeanor calmed me instantly and I knew I was going to be ok! She managed to fix the mess and I left feeling beautiful. There were other women getting their hair done while I was there and all of their color and cuts looked fabulous. I will definitely be going back AND referring my friends. Thank you Barbara!
Great service, great color! – Being new to the area, I tried numerous salons and stylists and was extremely disappointed in the color and cuts I received.
Having asked a friend with great looking color and styling where she goes, she said Barbara Forgione Salon.
I made an appointment, tried it and will never go anywhere else again. Peggy provides a complete consultation, really listens to what you want and gives it to you. I am very pleased with the precision and quality of the haircuts and absolutely love how natural and beautiful highlights are.
I highly recommend Peggy and all the staff at Barbara Forgione.
Unprofessional – I had an appointment with Barbara for High lites. It was my first time in and I was rudely awakened by pepto bismol tacky pink walls, Dusty furntiture, unswept hair everywhere, loud talking, stylists and even Barbara on their cell phones right in front of other clients! I told Barbara that I wanted high lites that were not orange or red toned. She then told me she was going to the back to mix up then I see her in the mirror on the computer searching the internet, it was atleast about ten minutes before she went to the back to mix the color. The whole application process was so uncomfortable, her phone kept going off, she was yelling at her staff across the small cluttered salon, and she just gave off the worst energy, I could not wait for it to be over. When it was time to be rinsed I had to wait even longer to be rinsed out since they only have 2 sinks for 5 stylists. She had another girl rinse me and put a glaze on, which I found out later costed me $30, along with having to pay for a blowdry!!! All and all my hair came out an orange tone which she told me was warm not orange. I even overheard her insulting an existing client and telling her how bad her hair was and how florescent it was! It cost me an arm and a leg and the experience and hair color was a disaster. Awful experience and one of the most unprofessional salons I have ever been in.
BEST color and cut I have ever received – I am from Miami and recently moved to the Tampa area in search of a new hair salon. Obviously coming from a city with no shortage of stylists, it was nerve racking to transition over to a new place. Thank goodness I found Vicky at the Barbara Forgione Salon because she has been my beauty savior!!!
I first went to a different salon only bc it was close to my house, and the girl who did my color completely messed it up. Through searching on the internet I managed to find Barbara Forgione Salon and get linked up with Vicky over a year ago... it was the best thing to have happened. She not only fixed the disaster color job from the previous salon, but has colored my hair with perfection every visit since! She is absolutely fabulous and I have referred her to several of my friends in the area who have all been equally as impressed.
I'm also petrified of letting anyone cut my hair and keep it very long. I finally asked Vicky to cut and style it and have gotten more compliments on my hair after she cut it then ever before. This girl rocks, and if you need a stylist, absolutely get in with her. I drive 45 minutes to see her and it is SO worth it!
Barbara Knows her color!! – First time in salon needed help with brassy blonde hair.
Barbara review colors with me and where I wanted my haircolor to be, walked out of there with a beautiful haircolor. She knows her color.
Amazing! – I had gone to another salon to darken my blonde hair. I told him "no black, no burgandy, just med auburn". I walked out with black hair with burgandy undertones. HORRIBLE!!! I cried for 2 days straight. I was afraid to ask him to fix my hair, so I looked elsewhere. I found Vicky at this salon. She was not ony very sympathetic, she was extremely knowledgeable about hair color. Although she could not completley remove the color w/o frying it, she highlighted it in a way tht it is now a beautiful rich chocolate brown. I wish I had gone to her first, I am sure I would have gotten what I wanted to begin with. GO TO THIS SALON! I have never had this level of service, and their prices are more than reasonable.
Bad haircut and atmosphere! – I went to see Vicky for a trim and style. I had long, thick, wavy, brown hair. I left with chopped, thinned, overly curled hair. I told her that I did not want my hair so overly curly and I was unhappy with the style. She said she couldn't help me that she had to pick up her daughter. So I left with the worst hair cut and style of my life. I called the next day to see if Vicky had time to fix it then...I was told she was booked solid. But the girl who answered the phone said she could fix it. She was evidently new because my hair looked frizzy and tangled after she "styled it" AND she charged me (for a hair fix?!). It will take me a year to grow it out so it looks as good as it did before I went to this salon. Very disappointed in the service and atmosphere...especially after reading all the positive reviews.
From the Dark Ages to the Italian Renaissance – I have lived in Tampa Bay for almost 14 years and have shopped around at many of the higher end salons. Most often I felt intimidated, paid a lot of money for my color & cut, and bought cupboards full of products that didn't work for my hair. I never felt especially pretty, or got much attention.
Three years ago I started going to the Barbara Forgione Salon and today I feel like a completely different person. I have a style and a confidence that I never had before. I just turned 40 years old and strangers are beginning to look at me now. Honestly it feels good.
They have transformed my appearance and taught me the "how tos" for so many things I never knew before. Like which products to use & how, simple hair tricks for the days I can't get to the shower, and how to apply my eye makeup, etc...
I often tell Vicky that I think she is a "Master" like Leonardo de Vinci, or Michaelangelo. She is seriously THAT GOOD. Every time I get my hair done I feel like I should send a thank you card. Every time is my favorite and every time gets better.
Book with Jai Wyan for a facial and you'll get amazing results and a lasting skin care education. The products he recommended radically improved my skin, and his simple brow shaping accentuated my features beyond measure.
Barbara Forgione Salon treats its customers like old friends and offers the latest & greatest services at an excellent value. Run, don't walk. You won't be sorry.
Professional & Experienced, Friendly & Welcoming – I have been going to the Barbara Forgione Salon for about a year now. I have never had a bad experience at all. Rather, I have been very pleased. Not only is everyone friendly and laid-back, they know their stuff.
It is a quaint salon but chic and welcoming, too. It sort of mirrors south Tampa--ecclectic! Barbara corrected my color after visiting a few other salons in Tampa and not being pleased. Barbara did an amazing job. The prices are more than reasonable for being a salon in south Tampa, too. One reviewer from September mentioned it was a horrible experience and was not kind at all in her review. Maybe she was so used to her NY salon, that she did not communicate well enough during her visit. She obviously was new to the area and did not know the charm or south Tampa--where an older house can easily be next to a new, bigger house. Neighborhoods/streets in south Tampa intertwine that way. A great salon can easily be next to an older house ... that's south Tampa. I have beautiful highlights and lowlights every time.
Dont bother. Dont go. Save your hair. – I moved here from NY area where there are high end salons and master trained stylists and colorists. After reading the reviews on this salon and it being in Tampa, I was expecting a NY style experience and quality. What I got instead was a little hole in the wall strip mall salon out in the boondock lowend of the suburbs. I shouldve turned around then. Suffice it to say I walked in with glorious hair and walked out with chopped up fruit stripped gum looking hair after a draining five hour stay. Not to mention they made me sign a waiver before the color saying it is not an exact science and the results may not be as I hope. Ill say. They must have made those up after many people complained this is not what I wanted. I usually go to Zoku salon in NY/NJ and you can not beat it, you leave looking like a movie star like it or not. Hair as silky and bouncy and healthy as they come. Champagne is served and the colorist, cutter amd stylist are not all one and the same, everyone has there expertise. Now my hair is ruined, will take a good year to get it back to the way it was.
Just dont bother. Its just a bunch of housewive moms who have part time jobs as hairstylists
