LaTonya Rox – I transferred to Nuvani halfway into my cosmetology coarse. I lacked a lot of the practical skills that I really thought I should have having the hours I had. I can honestly say in 1 month of being there I learned more practical than I did in the 6 months I spent at the other school. Nuvani definitely lacks organization and they are understaffed but LaTonya, the instructor, is amazing!!!! You get out of it what you put into it. Every time I ask question she doesn't just give me the answer she makes ME figure it out with her direction and unique teaching technique. She will also not leave your side until you feel comfortable and understand how to perform what you were having issues with. She is so much fum to be around and she makes school entertaining and directional all at the same time. I look forward to going to school every day and I honestly don't think I would have stayed in school and learned as much as I did and presently without her.
THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU SIGN UP! – The new owners need to listen to there students. Also they are so behind paper work falls behind students do not get all that is to be in kits. It is very crazy at this school like I said just really look in to this school before you decide to go there. I have heard there has been no stability 5 different directors within not even 2 yrs. Whats going on!
NUVANI is Great – Nuvani provides great skin, nails and hair services. I HIGHLY recommend it. I've been going to Beauty Schools for decades and this place is my favorite~
Wow? I have something good to say.. – Been here for a couple of years, perhaps a dozen times. Before then, I've been to other beauty schools for haircuts and roller sets. It's same as this one, but this one's closer to my home. They usually get me in without appointments. Sometimes, the wait is a bit long and in one case, i've waited long enough to later find that there's not enough students to work on me. But overall, the students that I've tried this year has been good to excellent so far. I would have to say there was a time the student's lacked skills, but that was more than a year ago. I know that the new owners have done a lot to this place to make it better. One thing I hate about this place is to later find my favorite student graduated.
Nuvani Institute (where incompetence thrives) – Cosmo333 and schoolguru are both on target. The school lacks structure, formal classes, and competent instruction. Students are left unguided to fend for themselves more often than not, and Carla's unapproachable attitude makes learning impossible.
Wade is entirely inept as a director. Weeks into starting school, two full-time students discovered Wade failed to submit financial paperwork (installment contract), nearly jeopardizing the students' enrollment. It's not the student's job to motivate admissions or instructors--as happens all too often here.
Do yourselves a favor: Do your homework. Look beyond that ornate remodeling job and cheap decoration. What's the instruction like? How professional is the conduct? Most importantly, is anyone learning any valuable trade skills?
Passed State Board with 100% – A big thank you to the aesthetic instructor Carla Clay and owner Wade. I am a former graduate from the Nuvanni aesthetic program. I was immediately hired as a spa manager / medical aesthetician. Two years after graduation, I wanted a refresher on waxing (since I have not had to perform any waxing in the medical spa) One telephone call was all it took. I was invited to come back in. Carla gave me individual attention in refreshing me on how to give Brazilian waxing services. They were supportive or me when I was a student, and more importantly my continued success in this business is their priority as well.
What a joke... – So, as a former student of Nuvani(south), I'd like to take a moment to clear up a few things about this school. I spent quite a few months there and didn't learn anything. I'm not sure what the set-up is now, but out instructor at the time didn't care about what kind of stylists we'd be when we left the school. I was told on more than one occasion that I'd have to apprentice before I'd learn anything of value. There was no structure and no classes. After realizing that I was paying an extravagant amount of money on nothing, I left the school. Unfortunately, by law, they still claimed half of my total tuition. Trust me, getting the refund for the remainder wasn't easy. The guy who owns these schools doesn't know the first thing about hair and he is a cosmetology school drop-out himself. Like a previous review stated, he's far too young and immature to own any business, let alone a school.
So, I ended up enrolling in another school and my faith was renewed. I spent my last 1000 hours being taught by amazing teachers and I got the opportunity to hone my skills over and over again. Now, I'm much more advanced than most cosmetology school graduates fresh out of school. Nuvani is a big joke and a time-waster. It's there to take your money and leave you hanging. Schools like this one are the reason we have so many unprofessional, unskilled hair stylists in this country...and especially in Austin. If you're someone who just wants to get your hours over with, this might work for you. But, you won't walk away with any education whatsoever.
It's Really BAD – I don't know about the other student that went to Nuvani, but my experience was horrible. The owner is an idiot, far too young to be trying to run a beauty school. I really felt like they just took my money, then didn't care whether I was successful or not. That really bites.
This user has been reported to CitySearch.com AND has left other bad remarks on other beauty schools in Austin, Texas.
I urge readers to question the validity of this comment and have higher speculation that it may be from a competing beauty school. This commentor uses the same "schoolguru" to comment other schools but most definately not their own.
On the same topic, please, please look at the schools with perfect rating as they are usually self-created to build quick & false attention.
I will speak on behalf of Baldwin, Jenessa, and Nuvani as we 3 schools know we compete among ourselves having the top customer service per day, Baldwin being the busiest. This is a true fact.
What is unordinary are the new beauty school that barely have client (s) and have more feedbacks,if not, ALL PERFECT feedbacks. Think about it! Do your research! Personally, i know consumers are not as dumb and foolhearted much less anyone reading this.
grate color, cuts and professionalism for a school AND a GRATE price, not open Sat. dut open after 5:00 during the week. – My experance at Nuvani was a GRATE one. I had my color done by one of the students and she did an outstanding job. I paid 1/2 the price I would have paid at a professional salon and she did a better job...i couldent be more pleased. The staff made me feel warm and welcome. I will be back for a retouch.
Way to go Nuvani.
It rare for us to get good feedback when a majority of our service, if not 99% of the client are satisfy with their service to spend sometime to comment about us.
We look forward to booking your next appointment.
