A comfortable relaxing environment with great service – Though i do not tend to comment much these past reviews for one of my most favorite spas are just biased and filled with misinformation!
If you dont believe me all of these negative reviews are from posters that only have that one post in their profile! that is just not right and this spa has a much better reputation than that! just go and take a look its constantly busy!
well ok now that ive vented, onto my review:
ill try to make this as short and sweet as possible. ive been a customer her for about 2 1/2 years this is primarily a Korean run spa, the employees are courteous and understanding, and their cultural backgrounds play a part in this i believe.
the prices are more than fair and i often get my facials done at this local. I also have my pedicure and manicures done here from time to time as well.
my sessions are always relaxing in their comfortable chairs, and the ladies are quite attentive to detail and spend the extra time for their customers to get things done the way they like it. recently they have been offering this new nail product, i believe its called minx nails, and its a nail extension product, and i will try it again as they were different form all the other ones ive tried and last well though the rough office week and nights out.
anyway this is a great spot to stop on in during lunch or after work for a nice break and get pampered for the day!
Reliable Service and Friendly Staff – I went to Spa Belles for the first time this week, and I have to say that I received one of the best services in nyc. I recently moved here from SF and i had been hopping from one day spa to another. Out of all the day spas that i have been to, the staff was very friendly and the service was superb. I will definitely return again. They also had a the new Minx Nails, so I will get tat done for my upcoming special event. Recommend this place!
Extremely rude and unprofessional! – I went to Spa Belles to try on different shades of nail polish to match my wedding dress. I told the lady at the front desk what I wanted and she quoted a price. My friend and I picked out an assortment of colors to try. I know it could be frustrating to apply and take off nail polish--I would have done it myself, but I wanted to get a sense of colors since they have such a wide selection. The first lady put on a few shades and I was eliminating shades to help narrow down the search. I noticed a large group of the other women working there congregating behind us and laughing. I didn't think anything of it, until the woman working on my nails left and didn't return. A second lady came to work, put on a couple of colors and left. It was at this point that the lady from the front desk told me the price changed since I was having an assortment of colors put on. It would now cost more since it was a design. I told her it wasn't a design and that I wish she had told me the 'real' price earlier as it probably would have changed my mind to get it done here (since I got it done cheaper elsewhere). I agreed to pay even though I thought it was shady that the price changed (doesn't seem strange now after reading the previous reviews). A random lady who worked there decided to take it upon herself to let me know how ridiculous she thought my request of putting on a different color on each nail was and that she couldn't think of a salon that would. I politely told her that I had a mani done the day before with other colors and she proceeded to let me know that it was a ridiculous request that she would never do it. She walked off and fortunately, I didn't have to come into contact with her or her rude nature again. I finally got the colors put on...didn't even wait for a top coat or for them to dry because I felt so insulted by them.
I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone!! I'm surprised this place still gets business with workers so grumpy and unfriendly. The employees should go to workshops on professionalism.
They thrashed my nails! And $$$$$! – I went to Spa Belles as a drop-in -- my friend and I decided on a whim to get manis and pedis. I did a "gel fill" and she did a manicure with no polish and a pedi. My regular nail place does gel fills for $30 in less than an hour and they look so natural I get compliments all the time. Spa Belles took almost 2 hours, the gel is super thick, and they thrashed my cuticles to the point of bleeding and I think one finger is infected. Then they charged me $68 even though the posted price was $22. They claimed it was because I got a French polish. My friend was charged $5.00 extra to have them use the razor on her feet during her pedi, and then spent not more than 5 minutes on her mani. They charged her $48. I will never go back there or any other Spa Belles (formerly Bloomies)!
Excellent service, not rushed at all – I had nothing but a positive experience at Spa Belles. I was not rushed at all. I had a pedicure and full set of tips and was there for almost 2 hours. My pedicure was 45 minutes long and no detail was overlooked. The true test to a great pedicure is going in with dark polish and having every trace of it removed where some places don't care and leave lingering polish on the skin or the nail bed. My nails were completely polish free before the new color went on. The tips were done perfectly. I will be making the trip from NJ to Spa Belles on a regular basis.
Attitude, Rushed, but Reliable – I've been going to this place for years, never had any real big problems, but like the previous reviewer, I also find their service kind of rushed. Sometimes, my mani/pedi was less than perfect, but then I realize I'm not at Bliss, paying Bliss prices, so I let it go. Also, there is definitely attitude when tipping a little less than "normal," especially when they've messed up, or rushed you out. And like that classic Seinfeld episode, you always get the feeling that they're talking about you to your face, but you can't understand what they're saying. However, despite the negatives, they're consistent and reliable. You don't expect top notch service, but they're not horrible. And they have great hours, and a good, convenient location.
Mediocre Pedicure with attitude on the side – A rushed pedicure, attitude when I asked her about something and not even a thank you when I handed her the tip! Not worth the $30 pedicure! Last time I go there!
Full-body relaxation is closer, quicker and cheaper than Manhattanites might have thought. – In Short
These bright spas may look like just another spot for a quick polish change. But past the rows of manicure stations, pedicure tubs and black leather massage chairs are private rooms that host facials, waxing, massages and exotic body wraps--even microdermabrasion and oxygen therapy. The convenience is made even more so with 30-minute express facials ($40), which include steaming, deep cleansing, a face massage and mask.
