Wonderful breakfast spot! – The place is always packed and service can be slow but the wonderful food makes up for it all!
Awesome affordable breakfast until 3PM – This Cup and Saucer is our favorite place to go for weekend breakfast. The food is excellent and they use quality ingredients and don't make it fatty. I got back from a trip recently to another city where I ate out every day in a trendy neighborhood, and even had room service in an up-market hotel, and yet the breakfast I had at this Cup and Saucer the day after returning was, well, the best breakfast I'd had since my prior visit to Cup and Saucer. They have some wonderful wait-staff and are generally very attentive, though they can get way too busy around lunchtime on the weekend, which could mean a wait time and it does impact service too of course. They have daily specials that usually include a yummy omelet and a special pancake, and generally a quiche too. The only place in my life that I've eaten more breakfasts at is, well, home. I enjoy the salmon scramble and veggie omelets and anything with Hollandaise sauce. Love them.
Terrible service. – I have been to Cup and Saucer 3 times now. I do not recommend going on a weekend. I have done that twice, the 2nd visit being one whole year after the first, and the service completely sucked both times. When I went on a weekday when there were only two other parties in the restaurant, service was great. The food at all three visits was excellent, but good breakfast food is a dime a dozen around Portland, so if it's a weekend, don't waste your time.
Best Ever! – I love this place!!! I go to school near so I'm always trying to find a good place to eat. Well Cup & Saucer is the perfect place to come to get breakfast (something college students don't get enough of) and also read the newspaper and/or catch up on last minute reading. I love that it's very laidback and the waiters are so down to earth. The endless refills of coffee is a BIG plus. The food is something that keeps you coming back. If you get the chance, try the Lucky Scramble, and they are always willing to make substitution without any extra charge. Also the daily special pancakes are great for those adventurous days; or the plain cinnamon and raisin french toast are delicious as well.
Scramble on over there! – I like that this location is just a hop across the bridge to Portland and not far from me. All their scrambles can be made with tofu and I think they are a bit plain and not seasoned good enough. The pesto scramble is good. Several of their vegan sandwiches that I tried were good including the grilled veggie, but the tofu ruben could use a dairy free sauce on it. I really like the sweet potato fries! Too bad they aren't open in the late afternoon and evenings anymore like the other locations.
The best breakfast in Portland – Love this place!! The food is absolutely yummy, especially if you like scrambles. The only downfall is the change from the thick potatoes to the thin hash browns. The atmosphere is cozy for a good Sunday morning chow down. We probably eat here once a month and will continue to return.
Cup and Saucer - Kenton – I just really enjoy the food. I think it is far better overall than other places of its type and the prices are reasonable. You may have to wait a bit but it's worth it.
i've been to the cup and saucer on hawthorne a ton of times, and love the food, service is ok. so i was excited to see this one in my boyfriends new neighborhood. oops, what a let down! the food was smaller, less seasoned, and way greasier than the hawthorne location. and the service, where can i start? i am a server, so i know exactly what is going on in a restaurant, and i never make my customers feel like they are lucky to be waited on by me! the server walked by us several times without even looking at us, no acknowledement, probably 10 minutes. one thing every server knows about breakfast is you keep the coffee cups full and you DON'T roll your eyes at your patron when they ask for more. we saw other tables that came in way after us getting their food, so we inquired about ours. our server rolled his eyes and said "i don't know WHAT is going on in that kitchen". --- when we were leaving, we saw a young lady putting out breakfast special signs across the street at a place called the Kenton Station Pub. she smiled and waved to us. Wow, she was friendlier to us than our server was! guess where we are going next weekend?!
worth the wait – First I would like to say that the staff is outstanding?funny and all around congenial. The food is great, I always go for the Mary Ann Sandwich (also known as the best fried egg sandwich ever born), a cup of strong coffee, and some fresh juice. The wait can be long on the weekends, but there is a self-service coffee station that helps make it tolerable.
As I live in NoPo, I am 100% pleased to have a reliable breakfast joint.
Favorite breakfast place of all time – This is basically all you need:
Iced Americano with 3 shots, a splash of milk, soy whatever you like.
Garden scramble with toast and a a scone.
Even though the menu is pretty extensive, this is basically all I get and its so money.....
