Bad first experience. My husband and I were excited to finally try this restaurant, as it was many on our list. We really liked the decor but surprised how dead it was on a friday night. We ordered our drinks, I had a fruity martini, which was good, and my husband had a Mojito, which he did not enjoy since the mint was minced so fine it kept getting stuck in his straw. I cannot handle a lot of spice, nor did I want anything deep fried, so I ordered Mandarin Cashew Chicken, as it did not indicate it was either of those things as some of the other dishes had (tender chicken breast . . . . .with garlic sauce). When I got my meal the chicken was deep fried and the sauce was spicy. The server did not seem to care that I was disappointed considering what the menu had said, but she finally spoke to a manager who explained to us that the menu was indeed wrong and had been for some time. He did give us dessert for free, which we really appreciated. However, when we received our Chocolate Monsoon (chocolate cake), it was the driest cake we've ever had. So unfortunately our first experience here was not a good one. I wish ours had been as positive as the rest. I say try it, but question the menu and avoid the cake.
What's not to like. This great resturant is a dramatic improvement over the one that it replaced in this location. With hip decor, a mixed asian menu, and a charming staff this downtown destination is a favorite of mine both for after-work drinks, weekend dinners, or a quick weekday lunch. Try the salt and pepper calamari - you'll love it!
Monsoon NIGHT LIFE!.
(I am from TX so I want to spend my Birthday with friends and family)
So this is a Pre-Review, I am coming from Los Angeles to Houston to celebrate my 25th birthday, (My BEST Friend wants to take me here) But from some of the reviews on the night life (NOT THE RESTURANT) it is making me a little hesitant. Who wants drama on there Birthday? Hopefully if I go Management and the door staff wont be bad as the claims and I will be able to compare it to some of the popular clubs here in Hollywood like Hyde, Teddy's, Goa, Opera, and Les Deux. Come back for my full review on Monsoon.......

party disaster. I work across the street from this restaurant so I was excited when my friend said she would be partying here for her 25th birthday party on a Saturday night. Management was rude and staff was unprofessional. After paying about $700 for 3 bottles of alcohol and waiting over an hour for one of them to show up, we were upset. First bottle was $300 and it was paid for in advance yet we didn?t get it while others got served. We ordered the second bottle at the bar waiting for the first and ended up waiting for a manager for both bottles. It was packed and the line was long. Doorman was picking people out of the line while others that had been there for a long time waited. It is a restaurant so the dance floor is very small. The DJ was lame and overall not the best place to spend your Saturday evening. Save your money and enjoy another club with your friends.
Best Responsive Manager. I really like this place. I have had consistently good experiences there since last Summer, and want to commend their manager, Lewis, in particular. We had a really good law firm event here (happy hour). The manager really did his best to ensure that it was everything that we requested, and that we were comfortable. In addition, we use this place for take out pretty regularly, and they are prompt and extremely polite. This spot is absolutely worth a try- the drinks are very very good. The bar staff has a good sense of humor and the hamburger egg rolls are something else. Don't understand the poor reviews AT ALL. Walk in with confidence.
Way beyond What I expected. So many people had negatively reviewed this restaurant. I will say this, I can't wait to go back! My husband and I attended the restaurant during happy hour...around 3 so there was absolutely no wait, the atmosphere was very chic and the service...outstanding. That steak over the chitake mushrooms & asparagus...mmmmm.....WONDERFUL. The martini's....Some of the best I've ever had! The owner came over to greet us and that made us feel really special. The next time we attend, we'll be bringing our friends...we haven't stopped talking about this place yet!
I hear the martinis are fabulous...could not drink while working so we will definitely come back !. Great location downtown. Our food was excellent for a business party of 4; service was prompt & courteous for a quick lunch-hour get-away.
Pricey and small portions - lame taste. I was not impressed w/ the quality or quantity of the food. I ordered a few appitizers and entrees to go and had a variety of menu selections. Nothing was anything to brag about - very bland flavors. The portions were very small - each container was lined w/ shredded lettuce as a filler. I'm not sure how the portions are dining in the restuarant, maybe they're a bit more, but take out was a total rip-off. I Would never go back - too bad it's not Twisted Fork anymore...
NYE. The NYE Party was $100 pp for VIPs. Food and drinks were not included. There was a lot of confusion about what the $100 was for. The appetizers were limp and greasy (store bought ?, frozen ?) and sorry. Music was so-so. Lookin for a different place to bring in 2009 !!
Asian-Fusion. Because the place was having it's 1-year anniversary, they had a DJ playing in their cocktail lounge. Well, I'm getting old! It was too loud for me, and unfortunately the cocktail lounge is not divided by a wall. The appetizers were half-off, so we tried the lettuce wraps, calamari and veggie spring rolls. And we also tried the scallop entree. The food is just okay; I've had better. Okay, I get that it's not true chinese but rather asian-fusion, however, the flavors should fuse. The scallops were tender and the veggies with it were not overcooked, but the flavors were a bit off, like they only used salt & pepper. It's inexpensive. Service was good. Place was clean and nice decor. I will probably go back for happy hour.
