We believe in excellence. This was a very unfortunate situation but does not reflect all us here at Xazz. These stylists are no longer with us as we dont support miscommunication, unprofessionalism or lack of skill. We were as disappointed and horrified as these clients were but DO NOT feel it is necessary to include all us of with this incompetence. We have a good team of people now who are dedicated to there craft and who care about their clients. Sometimes writing a review seems the right thing to do but this review makes all of Xazz look bad and we are very proud of the work we continue to do with our clients and the community. There unfortunately are always a few bad apples in the bunch but this is sometimes uncontrollable until a situation likes this happens and as I stated earlier we addressed the issue as best we could with these clients and staff.
Stylists do not listen or communicate very well!.
A few weeks before our wedding, my fiancee went to Xazz to have his dreads re-twisted by a stylist named Lily. His dreads reach the middle of his back and it was a while since he last had them twisted. But what Lily did to remedy his situation was horrible, inexplicable and unconscionable: she cut through the hair at the root of his dreads with tiny scissors and did not discuss this process with him! Almost all of the dreads in the crown of his head are hanging on by a few strands of hair! She never once explained why she did this or gave him any options or communicated with him in any way regarding this process. It wasn't until he returned home later in the evening that he discover what Lily did and since it was a Saturday evening, he waited until Tuesday to speak with the owner about this awful situation. She did refund all of his money but it was cold comfort regarding the fragile state of his hair. Needless to say, my honey was extremely upset because he has spent years growing his dreads only to have them hanging dangerously by a few strands in a few short minutes.
Next up: my horrible experience with Xazz Salon! I had (I write "had" because I will explain my experience later) naturally kinky-curly hair that was at almost bra-strap length when stretched. After his hellish experience, I was reluctant to go to Xazz Salon so I tried calling around to other stylists to have my hair blown out for my wedding but they were going on vacation or having sugery so I relented and called Xazz as a last resort and booked an appointment with Lily. I bring my own products to any salon because I am extremely picky about what goes into my hair (I don't use products with silicones because they cause terrible build-up, dryness and breakage and I try to use products like the Giovanni or Aubrey Organics line that are as natural as possible) and while Xazz tolerates this practice, they constantly try to push Aveda products with clients. I think Aveda is EXTREMELY over-rated and expensive and is chock full of silicones to boot (you might as well use Pantene)! I have not set foot in a salon for a service in a year because I do all of my washing, deep conditioning treatments and styling at home and my hair has thrived with me nurturing it so Lily was commenting on how healthy my hair is and how much it had grown in a year. She washes my hair with an Aveda shampoo (whatever!) but uses my own deep conditioning treatment which I mix at home and sits me under the dryer for 30 minutes. Next, she rinses the DCT and I ask her to use Giovanni Direct Leave-In Conditioner to blow-out my hair. The blow-out was fine except I thought my hair would go into a huge 'fro but it would not due to its length. Also, the VERY, VERY, VERY ends of my hair needed a trim (about 1/2 inch) and since my original stylist did not have time to trim my ends because she had her next appointment waiting, I went to another stylist named Tina. I told Tina THREE times that I wanted only 1/2 inch trimmed from my ends and Tina assured me THREE times that she would only trim that much. But Tina did not communicate with me AT ALL as she proceeded to CUT about 1-2 inches from my hair in an attempt to get it into an 'fro! I finally had to tell her to "STOP!" cutting my hair! After our honeymoon, I returned to the salon and expressed my outrage to the owner who, like with my husband, refunded my money, offered me products and services which I declined since I don't use Aveda and do my own services at home. Bottom line: Xazz may look pretty from the decor and this may give you a false sense of professionlism and "class" but the stylists are arrogant and don't listen to the wishes/needs of the client. I am VERY disappointed in Xazz Salon!
Pretty place, but poor quality. I understand what the owner is trying to do, but I was very dissatisfied. The salon is nicely decorated. I don't think the layout is very good for elderly or handicap people. How in the world is a person in a wheelchair suppose to get up those stairs. I enjoyed the shampoo. My hair is natural and very thick. I went for a wash and flat iron, but I left there looking like only a blowdryer was used on my hair. I was told that since my hair has no chemicals, that was the straightest it will get. Another stylist proved her wrong the following week. Sorry, but I wouldn't recommend this salon to any black woman.
Xazz Salon One of the Best.
Xazz Salon is a wonderful place. It's clean, roomy and comfortable. You feel welcome as soon as you enter. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about hair care and product use. They offer many services, perdicure, nails, massage, etc.
I never have to wait, they are always prompt. I recommend you give Xazz a try.
Best Kept Secret. Xazz, pronounced (zazz) is Seattle's new best Kept Secret. Just minutes from downtown nestled in the heart of the Central District, Xazz Salon offers more than a memorable experience. It's exactly what my family has been looking for. A salon that caters to the entire family. I arrived on time to get my hair twisted into Loc's, while my 2 boys got their hair faded and tapered. My wife was getting the royal treatment. Pedicure, Manicure, Waxing, and Facial massage. They offered tea as soon as we walked in and they even have an auto detail service , while you wait. Before we left, we purchased some products from Carols Daughter.
Excellent Spa. My husband began going to Xazz when he followed his stylist there. He urged me to go and I've been very impressed. They ran a bi-racial hair clinic which was extremely helpful to me, as my 3 daughters are bi-racial. My household has gone from frustration over hair to peace with hair maintenance and daily routines. I, like another reviewer here, had a massage there and I found it very relaxing. I didn't mind the stairs at all. To me it was great exercise. Evelyn, the owner, is a fantastic lady. Xazz partners with a local special needs school and provides charity opportunities for its clients, as well as support to this necessary educational facility in our city. I would highly recommend Xazz to anyone. They are prompt, polite, knowledgable and helpful in all aspects of hair care.
Amazing Experience and ambiance!. I have had several postitive experiences at Xazz salon. I enjoy the experience so much that I have taken my 71 year old father there on numerous occasions to have what I call peticure, but he calls it a "rub". Keep in mind that it is not at all typical for an old man to have his feet rubbed, but the amazing staff at Xazz have taken great care of my papa. Thanks!!! I would highly recommed this experience to anyone who is interested in exceptional service at a reasonable price.
Top Spa in Seattle. I have been to a number of spas in Seattle and the surrounding area. Xazz is the most professional, trendy spa of them all. Staff is very professional. The atmosphere is very "hip" with a great setting in a historic house. Do yourself a favor and try them out!
Waste of money. The two reviews posted were written by the owner. I overheard the owner telling an employee they needed to do the same. This salon is substandard in every respect. Owner is irritating, over-sells the products and services, and comes across as a real know it all. Be in top shape because climbing the stairs just to get to the front door is only the beginning, There are lots more stairs to take once you get inside. Amateurs is the best way to describe what you will encounter inside. I had a massage there awhile ago and couldn't relax knowing the route I would have to take to try and get out of there in case of fire or earthquake. Can only say how surprised I was they got a permit to do business. Steep, narrow staircase to the top floor. no visible fire extinquisher, and no sprinkler system. If you decide to give this place a try, keep your expectations really low.
Absolutely amazing!. I couldn't say enough great things about my experience at Xazz! The staff was incredibly friendly, fun and professional! They bent over backwards to make our day perfect. It's a beautiful place and I would recommend it to anyone. This is very possibly the best spa I have ever been to!
