Great donuts! – Fresh donuts, topped right there in front of you. Great amount of toppings to choose from. They are a bit greasy and messy but that's half the fun. Better than anything you'll get at KK or DD's. Simply a great donut place.

I really don't like doughnuts – ...but Fractured Prune is making a liar out of me. Fresh, hot, and topped to order. Call ahead or you'll wait forever for more than just a couple. They're a little heavy and could be considered greasy when they cool, so don't let them get cold. My favorites are black forest and chocolate covered cherry but they've all been pretty darn good.

Simply cake donuts; made to order – No yeast donuts, no filled donuts - just cake donuts. If you're going to only do one thing, you should do it right; and Fractured Prune does cake donuts right. The donuts are very light for cake donuts, not too crusty.

They've got all sorts of toppings from traditional to 'out there'. As they are made to order, you're always going to get a fresh donut.

I might miss filled donuts eventually, but I will definitely go back to Fractured Prune for excellent cake donuts.

At least once - you have to try it – Great to see a FP open up in Brier Creek. When we have a craving for donuts, we go here - just like when we're at our beach house! If you are a fan of donuts (& who isn't), give this place a try. I would agree with previous posters that the lemonade donut is a bit overwhelming, but we must have tried 20+ other flavors over the years & all of them were fantastic. Tell me I'm wrong!

Don't have to wait in line at the fair!!!!!! – I lOOOOOOOOOOOVE these donuts!! My husband and I grew up eating the cake donuts at the fair in West Virginia and frequent the tiny donut shop here at the NC state fair!! Well, one day, I discovered the Fractured Prune and got some plain cinnoman sugar donuts (like the ones at the fair) and took them to my husband. I thought he would freak right then and there......KK Donuts are a NC staple but they are different and now that the Fractured Prune is here.....there is no need to bash them! There is room enough for both because they are so very different. My only complaint is that they don't have ice for my milk but it was cold anyway~! Keep up the great work and please go try one.....keep it simple at first so you can enjoy the freshness and heat of the donut. Thanks, fractured prune!!!! I don't have to wait until October to have a great donut!!! Plus for the price of a dozen at the fair, I can get one donut at FP that is 20 times the size they make at the fair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best Donuts Anywhere – When I found out the Fractured Prune was coming to Raleigh, I was both excited and scared. Excited because my family vacationed in Ocean City, Maryland from the 70's-1990 and the Fractured Prune (Ocean City is where it originated in kind of a carry-out/grocery store) and the Prune was a part of every morning breakfast. My father and I would leave our condo a 7 a.m. to get the hot, made-to-order, melt-in-your mouth donuts. Scared because now that the Prune is so close, I will be there way too often and easily put on 10 lbs.

For those of you bad-mouthing the Prune's donuts, you don't know what you are talking about. You have either only been subjected to "the worst of the South-Krispy Kreme Donuts" or you have only been eating store bought donuts from Kroger, etc. These are the best hands down. And, no, I am not the owner nor am I friends with the owners. Where else can you TELL them what kind of HOT donut to make (takes just a couple of minutes by the way) for less than $1.00/donut. They have a very good special where you get 2 donuts and a bottomless cup of Seattle's Best Coffee for $2.99.

Insider's tip-buy one of their Prune T-Shirts and wear it into the store and you will ALWAYS get a free donut.

I must agree, however, that if you are big fan of glazed, sugary donuts, stay away from this great place and keep yourself over at Krispy Kreme. If you like Dunkin Donuts or Daylight Donuts, you'll love these caked donuts cooked to order and hot.

Too greasy and heavy. If you like Krispy Kreme donuts, you probably won't like these. – If I may say so, the reason there may not be more negative comments listed here is that people don't want to offend the owners, who are apparently dedicated to commenting on each of our posted comments. My purpose, therefore, in writing this review, is not to offend them, or cake donut lovers, but rather to be constructive.

I went to Fractured Prune after hearing lots of hype and ads, and learning that you can create your own donut. Like the negative reviewer before me, my donut was greasy and coated the tongue. Ick. I chose lemonade topping, and I swear it looked like it could glow in the dark. The rough texture of the donut interior was very off-putting to someone who has grown up on Krispy Kreme's smooth, melt in your mouth donuts. KK donuts, in my opinion, have a great balance of sweetness. Fractured Prune's was overly sugary.

My recommendation for the owners is this: keep your toppings more natural and less day-glo. I don't think I'm alone in wanting more natural ingredients. Also, go a bit easier on your toppings. More is not necessarily better. Finally, check your oil temperature regularly and religiously: if it's not high enough, the dough will soak up oil as it cooks.

So, if you like cake donuts, you may like these, but be prepared for greasiness. If you like yeast donuts, well, go to Krispy Kreme. :D Let's hope the owners of Fractured Prune are really open to making improvements.

GO HERE ASAP! – I am a huuuuuge Krispy Kreme fan. Although I was dying to check this place out, I was doubtful that I'd like the donuts. I was wrong! The cake donuts were terrific and made even better by the 15 types of glazes and 10 types of toppings. Our group of 4 ordered a dozen for breakfast - we weren't sure we'd each be able to eat 3, but we had no problems once we tasted them. Yumm. Not only is it really neat to be able to design your own donut, but they're also warm! I will be back as soon as I can - I just wish they were open in the evenings so I could make it there more often.

I LOVE THE FRACTURED PRUNE YUUMMMMM ( GO PRUNES) – I went for the first time a couple days ago and tryed the O.C glaze and loved it I found my self making grunting noises, they were very nice and had great conversation skills. They were very informative about all the policies for example if you buy a shirt and wear the shirt back to the store you can get a free donut. I also really like how they made the donut fresh and I love the look of the store. Overall I would give the Fractured Prune a 9.6 I think adding music to the store would have helped the atmosphere.
