Milk makes all your childhood dreams come true. Macaron ice cream sandwiches (I mean, really!), luscious shakes, buttery-delicious chocolate chip cookies, etc. etc.

4 words: MACARON ICE CREAM SANDWICHES. yes, every one of those caps were necessary. Milk is one of the ONLY places in LA serving up macaron ice cream sandwiches filled with their homemade ice cream in between two airy macaron cookie shells. Thai tea, red velvet & salted caramel are a MUST!!!

There are three competing chain coffee shops nearby, but they have WAY better coffee and if your thighs don't mind, a great coffee crunch shake.

Macaron ice cream sandwiches!!!!! My – Macaron ice cream sandwiches, whoever invented was brilliant. My favorite is the red velvet. This is the kind of ice cream you don't mind eating when it's still cold outside.

Best place to run in and get a cookie! Moist, sweet and buttery. Their ice cream sandwiches are SO GOOD! Ice cream sandwiched between two large macaroons. Delish!

Homemade ice cream bars and bon bons and decadent rich shakes. You come to Milk for ice cream! I love to get a variety of bon bons and when I'm in the mood to indulge I get the strawberry shortcake shake!

When it's unthinkably hot outside, I like to come here for an ice cream sandwich. They have a great selection. And if you're in the mood to eat something extra cute, they have a cupcake I'm the shape of ice cream in a cone.

Is there anything better than a peanut butter and jelly ice cream sandwich? Maybe the brownies and cookies.

Corner ice cream shop is a big draw for the neighborhood. Savory dishes too, but stick to the sweets. Often long lines, especially when hot.

I don't get the love of this place. Yes it has good cookies, but so do a lot of places around that don't have a 30 minute wait to get them. I'm lactose intolerant so maybe the ice cream and shakes are what get people excited?

Nothing to Rave about – I was really surprised how people were talking about this place and lining up for it. I did it and found out there is nothing special about it. I guess people think because its overpriced ice cream it has to be good. Its not!

ice cream sampler – Loved the place there was some many good icecreams to pick from I added for a sample plater and he whipped one up for me. We were able to taste some of the great flavors of icecream. I was great.

So delicious... – Love this place. It's a fat kids dream!

So good. Strawberry Shortcake milkshake is my fave. The pasta dish is awesome as well. Good sandwiches and salads, but their desserts and drinks are why you should reallllly go there!

If you like Joan's on 3rd, you'll love Milk. – Don't say I didn't give you a 2nd chance.

Last time I came into Milk. I genuinely felt like I got the wrong things. In fact, I felt SO wrong that I only blogged it and didn't yelp it cuz I felt it would have been unfair since I only nibbled on a horrible Shanghai salad and picked up a sandwich to go.

But as God intended. I am right. again.

Milk is the slightly better version of Joan's on 3rd. Luckily and to their credit, u nlike Joan's they actually make their sandwichs and food in the kitchen rather than give you nasty food that's been sitting out in a glass case.

This time I tried the 1/2 crispy chicken special ($12) and the potato leek soup ($6) and an iced tea ($3).

I don't understand.

Why don't places season their food? Sure the chicken was crispy but what happened to loving flavor? What happened to salt? The potatos were equally bland with bits of real bacon. The green beans were over cooked. The only seasoning that was offered was a ice cream scoop of mustard on top of the whole meal. Mustard? Really? You want to flavor my food? Try Gravy. or lard. No one wants to feel like they are eating a meal straight out the old folk home's cookbook.

Before you get your panties in a bunch over how cute the place is. Remember this. Just because it's cute doesn't mean it's good. Just because I'm ridiculously good looking doesn't mean I'm a nice person. You get the picture.

And I'm not bashing Milk. 2 stars to me means "Meh. I've experienced better."

And yes I have.

Sweet Tooth Heaven, Diabetics Worst Nightmare – There’s probably around 42 sweet reasons to visit Milk on a daily basis. The three that stand out most in my mind are: (1) Baby Caramel Apples, (2) $.50 Bon Bons and (3) the “Warm Ooey Gooey Chocolate Sundae”. Here’s why: (1) Baby Apples make just about anything cuter, (2) I challenge you to find anything more delish for 50-cents within 10 square miles, (3) They use coconut ice cream for a genius twist on the classic sundae. Some things to note: I once had an entire cookies and cream malt that took me a full two days to recover from. Don’t get me wrong, it was an amazing tastebud experience, but the amount of creamy calories packed into that glass could fuel pack mule team for a month. My advice is to split your shake with a friend the first time around and then slowly work up to the full glass over the course of a couple visits. I plan to actually go back soon for something that doesn’t require an insulin chaser and my eye is currently on the Prosciutto & Provolone with arugula, potato slices and pickled onions. Will report back here after my savory nosh.

Yummy for my Tummy! – This was a great adventure! Heard of it and my friend and I were driving around so we left Beverly Hills and headed over to Milk. I am familiar with chef Bret Thompson and I was not let down at all. I have never had such a decadent and rich chocolate cookie sandwich! I can't wait to return for more!!! And that was my friend's dessert, I had two scoops of ice cream and wow! If I was not full from my unbelieveably tasty sandwich and really well tossed salad I may have ordered more. I thought the cupcake bites were excellent and the agua fresca?! Sweet, light, and so refreshing. I can't wait to go back! The cookie ice cream sandwich is calling my name...oh did I mention the cookies were light, and crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside? Wow!!

Not an Ice Cream Version of Pinkberry... – The decor is cute and different (a real thematic 50s vibe throughout), and the big sundaes look absolutely amazing...but this place is not a very pop-in friendly place. One, the parking is insane. I circled for about 30 minutes and still didn't find parking at 9PM. I resorted to parking on a red zone and ordering two ice creams to go. Two, I ordered just regular scoops of ice creams because their more elaborate ice creams are quite expensive! $6 dollars or something? Why?! Well, I guess it's acceptable to split one with a date, but if it's just a simple crave for ice cream...look for a no frills place! This place is more of an experience, if you like that kind of thing. Now I know that you have to actually prepare ahead of time for an "ice cream night" to really enjoy Milk. And go with the idea that it's not Baskin Robbins.

So Friendly and Nice! – I went into Milk to buy a gift card for my roommate, and I ended up having a great experience! I guess they just started issuing gift cards, so they were having a bit of trouble. They kept apologizing for taking so long, but I was keeping myself busy looknig at the cases of ice cream and cookies. Then, they gave me a free cookie! And then they gave me free ice cream! I wasn't really in the mood for sweets, but they were both delicious! The double chocolate cookie was amazing and tasted like pure chocolate, not like any of that waxy gross stuff I'm used to. The ice cream, however, was the true star of the night. The cashier told me that the hazlenut was good, but it wasn't good. It was GREAT! It was incredibly smooth and creamy, and I think it had huge toffee chunks in it, which I normally don't even like. Perfect! The friendly service alone will bring me back to Milk, even if I can't find a place to park within a mile. I think it'd be a great place to go for lunch or an afternoon sweet fix.

great sandwiches – I was driving home down Beverly Blvd. one day when the sign MILK caught my eye. I knew I had to, I mean absolutely had to come back and check it out. After doing some research online I found out that it was an ice cream parlor-esque establishment that was especially known for its desserts and ice cream sandwiches. Upon arriving I couldn?t help but notice the art deco building which was modernized in a subtle and tasteful manner. Inside the decor was very simple and sterile with stainless steel finishings meets 50?s diner with the tunes of jimmi hendrix, john lennon and tom petty and the heart breakers playing in the background. I couldn?t help but tap my foot and hum along with my favorite songs while waiting for my food. It wasn?t too loud unlike other establishments I?ve been to who seem to think that blasting music into it?s customers skulls gives the place more character and makes it fun. The place itself caters to a variety of customers running from hipsters who have come to see and be seen, to locals who are enjoying a blended mocha with their newspaper. The staff was especially helpful and friendly. They even offered to save my table and watch my things as I moved my car to their private parking lot. I ended up getting the Media Noche sandwich and was pleasantly surprised. The sandwich itself had an interesting combination of ingredients like roasted pulled pork and ham with manchego cheese, pickles, and roasted garlic mayo that complemented each other perfectly! It?s definitely something I?m going to be coming back for again.
