Not a Good First Impression – I drive by this salon nearly every day and have been intending to stop in to check out their services. I discovered they are a Bumble & Bumble salon, so stopped in to pick up a new product (new to me) that I'd read about.

It was a Thursday, around noon. I found meter parking right away. When I walked in I almost bumped into a person sitting near the door. I then noticed two people squooshed up against the front window between the reception desk and the door. Nice waiting area, Fringe.

There was a receptionist who didn't say "hi" until I said hello to her. No smile from her. No "may I help you." Nada.

There was apparently only one stylist working, with one customer in her chair, and the two waiting near the window.

I proceed to peruse the Bumble & Bumble shelves, looking for my product. I found it. There were three bottles. One had a protective cap on it, the other two didn't. I thought maybe the two without were testers, so I squeezed out one pump from each to try the product. Then I thought to try the third bottle and found a drop squeezed right out. None of the bottles needed to be primed which told me they'd all been used. I should have left, but was anxious to try the product and I was there. So . . . I picked up the one that felt the heaviest and took it to the receptionist. I had wanted to ask questions about the product and expected to be "up-sold." Didn't happen. The girl, obviously bored, just said "do you want to buy that?" Yes, and I paid for it. As an afterthought I asked how much for a trim. She told me $75. She did not mention the 20% off for first timers mentioned on this site. I won't be going to this unfriendly, drab looking salon again. Not impressed, Fringe. Maybe you should call "Tabitha."

Um, Think I'm Going To Pass Next Time... – I hate to say it, and I did not want to post anything because I believe some folks have off days, but I felt that my recent experience at Fringe was a bit, well, absurd really.

I arrived on time for my appointment on a Sunday at 12pm. My stylist acknowledged me and said it would be a few minutes.. Okay, no problem... 25 minutes later, she was ready to take me. I figured, all right, she's busy today, it's a Sunday, not a big deal.

So she begins to color my hair the same semi-permanent color I requested that she gave me last time I was in. She begins the color starting at the roots, then tells me she'll let this sit and leaves me there for another 10-15 minutes--SIDE NOT: not sure if you're aware of this, but when applying a semi-perm color to one's hair, it's best to do it in all one shot, and not in two stages... When she came back to finish the rest, she told me that she needed to eat something... I thought to myself, okay. Fine. You've been busy. Just finish the job.

After she finishes applying the color, she puts me under the dryer for the standard 10 minutes hot/10 minute cool down period. Fine. No problem. As I'm sitting under the dryer reading a magazine, I look up and see her starting highlights on another gal.... So, what ends up happening is the other stylist in the salon rinses my head and leaves me to sit in the chair to wait for her for another 20 minutes! REALLY!?!? REALLY!?!?

Long story short, she comes over to me, (granted, she apologized) finishes my cut (hair was fine, except I told her to cut the bangs straight and she added TEXTURE to them), and I pay, and leave.

When I get in the car, of course, I realize the color she gave me is wrong and MORE RED than I had originally wanted. So now, I've paid over $150.00 for a haircut that is mostly acceptable and a color that I did not want because she was not paying attention to what she was doing, and because she left me sitting with it way too long.

This is the most ridiculous experience I have EVER had in any salon in Los Angeles, and admittedly, I've been to a few. I originally picked Fringe because they were nearby where I work in Santa Monica and although I live in Hollywood, I was willing to make the commute because I believed that my stylist was a good one. And what floors me is that my experience with this salon had been mostly positive up until now.

Couple of things to know about this place: One, they DO NOT DO APPOINTMENT REMINDERS and the girls who work there have this sense of entitlement which often leaves the client feeling like we're imposing on their time.

Two, their appointments CONSTANTLY OVERLAP. Almost every time I arrived in the past, there was someone sitting in my stylist's chair and I had to wait. Granted, not as long, but a loyal client should not have to wait more than 10 to 15 minutes (15 minutes, being the very OUTSIDE).

Lastly, I pay GOOD money for Fringe to provide me with a certain level of service and while, I completely understand that things happen and clients are sometimes late to their appointments, PLEASE don't make your client wait with chemicals in her hair so that you can eat your lunch! I know you're a busy person, but your client is NOT GOING TO UNDERSTAND when she is paying $150.00!!! Sorry, not going to happen.

PIECE OF ADVICE TO FRINGE: Make sure you call your clients to confirm their appointments ahead of time AND HONOR THEM when they arrive. Don't treat your clientele as though WE ARE INFRINGING on YOUR TIME. I know you pride yourself on being "laid back" and "cool" but all this does is show a COMPLETE LACK OF RESPECT to your customers and makes YOU look incompetent.

Definitely will not be back.. For those reading this review, buyer beware...

SHOCKING Experience – WOW. I do not even know how I am going to be able to write this review. I made an appointment as a first time client with Fringe for a Brazilian blow-out for today at 10am. The person who made the appointment said it would be with her and her name is Stephanie. I asked her about her experience and she seemed to have little experience and my gut was telling me I should reconsider. But I liked the way she described the service and thought it might be good to give a younger stylist some business. I arrived early at 9:30 am and the salon was closed. The website said it opens at 9am so I waited out back. I have to say I was not at all impressed with the location of the salon but was still willing to give it a try. Around 9:50 am I was really having second thoughts. Stephanie had not even arrived yet and I just had a bad feeling. So I started to back out, then a car honked at me and I saw a young girl pulling in next to me with an annoyed face shaking her head "no". I stopped the car and rolled down the window and asked her if she worked at the salon. She said "yes I do" in a rude tone. I said I had a 10am appointment. She said "I know and it's not 10 am yet". She was wearing what appeared to be a bathing suit underneath a bathing suit cover and did not look at all professional. I immediately became very uncomfortable with this gruff woman who would have been putting lots of chemicals on my hair for the next 3 hours. I decided I just couldn't go in. I politely said, "I think I am going to pass on the service". She immediately screamed "I cannot believe you "fu*ken dragged me out of my bed on a Sunday morning!!" I started to drive off and then said, "I guess I made the right decision". She said, "yes I guess you did you f--en slut"....then I think I heard the word "whore" as I drove off.

I was not a "no show" client. I had every intention of having the service done and honoring my appointment. There was no way, however, I would let this hostile, disheveled, late, crazy eyed, young girl to touch my hair.

I cannot even being to exaggerate that story. I am a professional who works in Century City . I was left speechless and of course, had to write a warning on this site.

I used YELP to find this salon and this one person, Stephanie, has totally blown in for all the stylist. I will never step foot in that salon and I warn you to be cautious.

Super bummed – I was referred to Fringe by a friend who had just gotten highlights and was really happy with them. Her color looked great and I was really excited! Unfortunately, I needed my hair done asap and her colorist was not available. I am SO upset that I didn't wait until she was. I went with someone else the receptionist suggested. I needed highlights and asked her to try to get rid of the brassiness. She said I should get a single process and highlights next time. I trusted that she knew what was best ...my hair ended up looking ORANGE. Yellow orange. I could have done it myself with store bought color. It looked better before she touched it. I had to wear a hat. I went in again a couple days later to have it fixed. It does not look much different than the first time except it's more fried. I am really embarrassed to walk around with this unnatural looking hair. So unprofessional and disappointing after spending so much money when I could have plunked down 9 bucks on a box for better results. :(

Worth the trip! – Fringe is out of my way. It's nowhere near where I live, but I couldn't imagine going anywhere else for a haircut. The people there are friendly and knowledgeable and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. I'm happy to make the trip.

The best in the West – I have written a review for Fringe Hair Salon in the past, but feel compelled to reiterate what a wonderful experience it is to not only get the best haircut in town, but also to hang out with Linda and her team. Making me look good is a task not easily accomplished. But Fringe Hair Salon does it with ease and good humor. And her pricing is more than fair. If you want to look great, and have a great time, Fringe is the place for you.

Satisfied Customers! – So many satisfied customers at Fringe! I have a group of friends who love the transformations they are getting from Linda and her professionals at Fringe. Color is her specialty and she does a masterful job. The before and after differences are observable -- so well done! I have sent a number of friends to her and they are thanking me for it. She has worked hard to make Fringe the best salon in L.A.

Fabulous Fringe – If you would have seen the "before" shot of my hair color you'd hardly believe it. Owner Linda Farrall worked her magic on my hair just about a month ago, on my very first visit to her salon. A million things can go wrong when you're in between colors, or going blonde, or letting your hair grow out, which is why I definitely wanted a master working on my hair. I've had my hair done all over L.A. and this is one place that takes their time to pay attention to every last detail...and I am one picky little lady. We weaved in two shades of blonde and some low lights. It was an overhaul but so worth the time and money I spent there! My next appointment is this week and I am sure I will feel right at home and walk out looking like a million bucks. I'll keep you posted!
