This place is seriously a hidden gem. I stumbled into this place not knowing and was lost. Didn't know what to order and went with something safe, ceviche. The shrimp wasn't rubbery and the perfect amount of lime was added.

memorable experience – I went here once with a class- I had some tamale- i forget the name but I loved it! we also had nice appetizers- i want to call them tacos but there was a different name for them at this restaurant. The decor wasn't extravagant but that didn't matter. We went at night but I'm sure there's a lunch rush you may want to avoid. try delicacies of the yucatan here!

Yucatecan full-service restaurant features a similar menu to its beloved parent eatery, an out-of-the-way food stall south of downtown. – In Short
The owners of a celebrated but far-flung Yucatecan food stall have opened this cozy, eponymous restaurant near MacArthur Park. The menu highlights the Mayan, Spanish and Lebanese influences of the cuisine, with specialty appetizers like beef and cracked wheat patties known as kibi. The chef seasons a familiar Mexican entree like pollo asado with sour orange juice, achiote and pickled red onions, and also serves Yucatecan specialties like the marinated pork dish cochinita pibil, and papadzules which are hardboiled egg-filled tortillas spiced with epazote and pumpkin seed sauce.

We were so looking forward to it. – and then we tasted the food. My wife and I had the pork pipian, the pork was tasting raw and the pipian sauce was flavorless, the poc chuc, which im sorry to say it was just flavorless pork chops, appetizers that were interesting on paper but just didn't seem to make it off the plate, no salt shaker around and sangria that was mainly red ice water barely hinting alcohol. After so many good reviews, we didn't expect walking out disappointed. The one thing i do agree with the other reviews is the great service, that was the main reason i tried to put a good dent on my plate, but it was hard.

food was awesome! – the service was outstanding, waiter was very attentive and helpful. we had the ceviche (highly recommended!), queso relleno (very tasty) and the pipian de puerco (pork just melts in your mouth...so tender!). we are definitely going back to visit the next time we are in los angeles!

A hidden gem – Went there to check it out on Friday. This place should be full, but sadly it hasn't caught on - yet. It's near McArthur Park - they have valet parking if you're at all concerned about safety (we weren't concerned).

All four of us really enjoyed our meal. The appetizer sampler was a standout (not crazy about the codzitos), and another appetizer. Then we had Chochinita Pibil (pork) and Calamari - terrific. We shared everything and it turned out we could've ordered one less entree or appetizer and still had plenty. The bill came to $84 total for 4 people (we brought our own wine). We'll be going back.

Best authentic Yucatan food in L.A. – Great authentic yucatecan food. Had a bunch of appetizers, all were good to excellent. Will be back soon. They had live trio playing, free valet parking and excellent service. The decor and ambiance are also great. We didn't need a reservation to get in. Highly recomended.

Amazing Restaurant – Stopped by for dinner saturday night. This place is amazing. The food was out of this world! I had the Bistec a la yucateca --a marinated thin filet mignon-- and my husband had the Chochinita Pibil --roasted pork-- and we split a chile stuffed with tuna appetizer. All three dishes were memorable, excellent flavors and beautifully presented. The service staff was very friedly and helpfull. The place was pretty full at about 8 pm but or food didn't take more than 20 minutes to be served. Oh, we finished the meal by spliting a sorbet make of tropical fruits (can't remember the names).... best sorbet I have ever had! You have to check it out.

Slammin' Authentic Comida Mexicana – The food is amazing. Chichen Itza catered our wedding a year and half ago and we were so excited they opened their first major restaurant.

My wife and I love seafood and the fish dishes they have are unique and delicious. The fried platanos and the soups are great. Its a welcoming vibe and valet is free! If you love Mexican food and in particular food from Yucatan, I don't think there is a better place.

I think I have a new favorite mexican restaurant – Me and my boyfriend went for dinner yesterday after a coworder told me about it. This place serves new and interesting (to me at least) mexican food, nothing like any other mexican restaurant I;ve been to. It's like home style cooking in a restaurant. The flavor and presentation of the food was very good. We had an appetizer plate that was like a sampler and two orders of cochinita pibil. The cochinita pibil is a pork dish baked wrapped in banana leaf and marinated in this tangy citrus juice. It's probably the most moist and tender pork I've ever had. The restaurant is pretty with some outdoor seating (that no one was using, kinda cold last night). There was plenty of street parking at 8:00 pm. They also had live music wich was nice, we'll definitely be back. The prices were very reasonable considering the nice decor, good service, food and live music, about $70 for two including appetizers, main course, desserts and a couple of glasses of wine. I didn't score it a 10 because perfection does not exist!!

Food to die for! Great and completely original seafood dishes. – I stoped by the new Chichen Itza over by Macarthur park after a friend told me that they had finally opened and let me tell you, the food was amazing! We had a plate called Chilmole de camaron, this spicy black mole with shrimp and the Tikinxic a orange colered filet served with pico de gallo and a citrusy flavored sauce. Both were amazing. The space is beautiful, without being pretencious, nice colors and good service. My server (I think her name is Karla) was knolegable about the food and very attentive. This place is a real treat. Highly recomended. Oh, their flan is also very good!
