Citysearch Editorial Review – There are plenty of places to find Vietnamese-style sandwiches (banh mi) all over the city, but for inspired twists on the traditional sammie, there are none like Baguette Box. With locations in Fremont and Capitol Hill, the little sister to popular PNW/Vietnamese fusion eatery Monsoon makes a splash on the local lunch scene with hot and cold sandwiches filled with crispy chicken, braised pork belly, grilled eggplant, tuna in olive oil and more. Sides—beet salad, fries with truffle oil, etc.—are more exotic than your standard deli, but not as exciting as the sandwich/salad menu. Take-out is the dining method of choice here (and busy lunchers can order online in advance) though there are a couple of shabby communal tables if you choose to dine in; dog-friendly diners will appreciate the décor, a mix of poochie paintings and photo portraits of man’s best friends.
Super Good! – The sandwiches here are fantastic and I didn't think they were messy at all. No messier than quiznos, subway, etc. The bread was perfect combination of chewy in the middle and crunchy on the outside.
It is fun to try all the flavors and the truffle fries are really good. Really crunchy and not that soggy greasy feel to them. This is what french fries SHOULD taste like.
I had the pork loin with apricot aioli and it had wonderful fresh sprigs of cilantro on it.
Fanstastic! Price not too bad considering the quality of ingredients.
Nice flavors – This is my first review, hopefully of many, so bare with my novice skills. I've been here three times now and each time the sandwiches have been full of good flavors, but falling out of the bread and really messy. Sometimes I will take the messyness for a fantastic meal, but not here... I mean the sandwiches are extremely hard to eat and the ingredients are always falling out. Suggestion for the owners: wrap the sandwiches or find a way to solder the bread together after the ingredients are inside. My favorite sandwich there is the lamb sandwich which has a tzasiki type of sauce, roasted red peppers, cilantro, and grilled onions. It's actually very good. One thing that REALLY BOTHERED ME last time I went: My friend and I were deciding to either get the regular fries or the truffle fries (which are 2 dollars more) so we asked the woman taking our order. She told us that the truffle fries were "amazing." This solidified our decision, I mean they already sounded delicious. Upon taking taking our first bite we quickly realized that we had been duped into buying some of those most expensive ($5), small portioned, and disappointing fries in Seattle. I would appreciate it next time that their employees would not lie to me.
Overall, I would recommend that people try it out and taste for themselves because the place seems to be very popular and it's kind of fun to sit in on a nice day.
