Theft at Goldbar – Beware of Goldbar. I had a very unpleasant experience of this place last night. While I was inside the club, a fight broke out and during the fight, the coat check guy apparently went AWOL as both my coat and my friend's were stolen. The club refuses to take any responsibility for the loss despite the obvious neglect of duty. If you dare go, don't check your coat. I would suggest avoiding this place entirely. There are far too many other good options in NYC.
Gold Bar is the Place to Dress Hip and watch Models – First time at Gold Bar. I didn't know what to expect. It was an afterwork celebration. The line was big and we got picked to go in very quickly thanks to my co-worker, Bill booking 25 of us through AccessGotham.
You gotta check out the gold skulls adorning the walls and gold chains separating the rooms.. . The DJ was mixing house beats, new wave, dance and rap. I certainly enjoyed seeing a few Victoria Secret models. No wonder everyone was crawling to get in. We got comped a bottle too. from AccessGotham's pull.
Citysearch Editorial Profile – Velvet ropes would not suffice to guard this alcove of unadulterated excess--glamour-hounds who arrive here are greeted by gold chains at the door. The gilded theme continues inside, where hundreds of gold-painted skulls adorn the walls and more dangling gold chains form a sheath separating the bar, with its throne-like chairs, from the booths and tables (custom-made to look like stacks of Cartier bracelets) in the lounge. A bit tacky? Perhaps, but it's also a lot of fun to grab a cocktail at the bar ($15), snag a table in the lounge (no bottle service necessary) and watch the boys do their best to appear unruffled by the gorgeous human coat hangers shimmying around the dance floor,
Hick KKK Bar – Normally I don't take the time to write reviews or comments but after what I experienced at this bar I strongly feel New Yorkers as well as outsiders must be aware.
"Unless you are white ,you aren't right." They were a few ethnic people in this dreaded bar. Must be because they have a quota to meet. This place was tiny and awful. The BOUNCERS are disgusting, unprofessional and down right racist. The line is long outside but there was nothing happening inside. DJ did not know what music he wanted to play, the man was all over the freaking place with his horrible taste music. The scene in there was so drugged out and FAKE. People pretending to be something they are far from. Thank goodness it was just a friend having her birthday there because I would have never EVER step foot in this forsaken place. Oh yes, if your gay turn back they won't let you in. My friend was on the list to come in and the BOUNCERS treated him like crap because he was gay. I asked them why they wouldn't let him in especially since he was on the list and they stated we don't let his kind in. My friends and I gathered our things and left. On my way out the bouncers were so mature and called me a little bitch. Shame on Gold Bar!! You need to be outside of NYC with your outrageous behavior.
This place has one of the toughest doors in the city. Brooklyn bred Johnny boy guards that door as if it was his sister’s purity. He has even gone on record saying that he has denied his childhood friends entry (I am talking about the bar here). Once you finally get in, you feel as if you were in Donatella Versace and Christian Audigier´s den. Gold and skulls galore. (It is not as bad or tacky as it sounds.) The party doesn’t get rolling till late and Sundays the crowd is a tad more diverse. (aka a bit less eurotrashy). Occasional celebrity spottings can occur. If you manage to get past Johnny, it can be fun. But just remember that not everything that glimmers is true gold. (fool’s gold bar?!?)

Awesome Door!! – I recently went to GoldBar and noticed that the grungy looking guy at the door was in a music video I had just seen recently. I think it was called Turn Away. It was a great video and we had a great time at the bar. Much love to the dirtbag doorman!!
GoldBar, door access finally revealed!!! – I read a lot about Gold Bar before finally giving it a try, so I went 3 weeks ago. I was star struck as soon as I got out of my cab. I see this guy at the door, and im saying to myself, I know him, I know him. It was Jon Lennon. I recognized him for his awesome video on You Tube called "Turn Away". I told him how much I liked the video and his music. He let me in right away and sat me down in the beautiful seat right at the bar. He told me, he'll always save 2 seats for me. So naturally Im thinking he's joking. I go back the other night, Jon saw me walking down the block towards the bar, he gestured to come towards him. As I did, he opened the ropes and let me right in and once again sat me in the same seat! Dirtbag he may be, but that dirtbag knows how to take care of his fans. If your having a hard time getting in, compliment him about his video.....and by all means, check the video out. Its really good!! Kudos to the dirtbag!
