Does not honor reservations – Careful if you ask for the hospital rate. We reserved a particular room with a king on the top floor (seeking quiet). When we arrived were told that another guest extended their stay so we were placed in a second floor room and told we could have the room we reserved the next night. Ended up getting almost no sleep because folks next door were up until 3 talking and left at 6:30 dragging what sounded like 600 lbs of luggage. Owner even heard them up late making noise and did not ask them to be quiet despite my 1 am phone call to her.
The next day we ask to be placed in the room we reserved and once again were told that someone else was in there. Owner finally explained that if you ask for hospital rate you only get best available, not a specific room. If I would have been told that up front I would have gone elsewhere or reserved the specific room we wanted. The owner's communication was very poor and she directly lied to us, felt like she was just jerking us around and we were forced to find a different place to stay.
We really did not need this stress while our daughter was in the hospital for major surgery.
The food was mediocre at best - cheap grocery store variety muffins, etc. - and the facility upkeep was severely lacking - peeling paint, moldy bathroom, and general lack of maintenance.
To her credit the owner did not charge us for this disaster of a stay. My advice - run away!
1024 Clinton Street B & B is a Hidden Treasure – Easy girl, you have the wrong place there! We made the same mistake. There are two B & B's on Clinton Street. 1024 Clinton Street is lovely and the owner and hostess is just as described in the first review. I stayed there in 2007 and was enchanted, so, I wanted to go back with my husband on our anniversary. By mistake, I booked a room at the other B&B (also called "the columns") on Clinton Street. The reason I made this mistake is because this woman's name is also Kathy! When we arrived, (a little dismayed because I had the wrong address), we were also appalled by our strange, unwelcoming reception! The hostess pointed us up the stairs and said she would find a key later. The attitude was that she didn't have time for us as she was "up to her ears" with some disgruntled customers. Although I had made a reservation mentioning our anniversary, she had put us in a very cramped little room with absolutely no privacy. The miniscule bedroom and adjoining tiny bath both had doors that opened into the main hall. There was an entire family there from out of state that was also very unhappy as they had been put in rooms with unmade up beds and a broken TV . Eventually we made an excuse to leave. We walked up the block to 1024. Unfortunately, the original Kathy did not have any rooms open that night, but she went out of her way to try to help us find a room. Since that time, we have gone back and stayed at 1024 in the beautiful Peach Room, enjoying the comfort, elegance, and privacy, that brings you back to old world Philadelphia. We recommend this wonderful B & B to all our friends, with a warning not to mix it up with the place down the street. Kathy and her charming home at 1024 Clinton are one of Philadelphia's secret treasures!
Clinton Street Bed & Breakfast - amazing !! – Clinton Street is an amazing ! It is a warm and comfortable. Kathy, the owner is so sweet and caring. She helps you set in. Phillie is great, tons of stores, and went to the Liberty Bell, then we went out for dinner. Then we walked down Clinton Street. So beautiful, the house are so quiet, peaceful and secure. Beautiful trees, and flowers as your walk to 1024 Clinton Street and relax. We stayed at "the nook" Everything was simply done. Just relaxed from the crazy city. I would definately tell other people about 1024 Clinton Street !!
Thank You for the experience, Kathy
Worst Guest Service EVER – Sweet as sugar? More like as sour as vinegar! Kathy, the owner and host, is VERY RUDE! I was appalled when calling to make a reservation--I was actually acausted for calling --heaven forbid--three times in a row when I didn't get an answer. She yelled at me. I told her she wasn't helping herself. If this is how she treats potential guests, I can only imagine how she treats guests once she already has your money in her pocket!
