I never get weary of the neighborhood vibe of this place. The wine selection is stellar and the advice top-notch.

Chill vibe, cool people, great time – I've driven by this cute wine bar several times, thinking, "I need to try it," and am glad I finally got a chance to this past Tuesday for their famous Tuesday cupcake pairing. They pair a cupcake with a small pour of wine for $10, a nice indulgence, and a great excuse for some 1 on 1 time with a friend. I arrived while it was still light outside and stayed until the sky turned dark. While it's light outside, you can see all varied paint colors (greys, peaches, seafoam green) on the walls. The bartender, a girl, was gorgeous and knowledgeable. Thanks to her, I tried a really light and fruity sparkling Austrian apple wine, the Apfel Cuvee, a perfect summer sip. The little bites were great; a plate of cheese, some yummy olives, almonds that you could munch on while sipping and chatting. I sat at the bar and was able to share in the chatter of some of the regulars and resident foodies who come every Tuesday for the cupcakes. Fun, fun. By nightfall, the candles light up and the warm glow of the lights gives the wine bar a cozy intimate feeling. The perfect place for a tete a tete, I like the relaxed environment, and the fact that it is not so packed that you can still hear yourself talk. I will definitely be back.

No further clientele needed – Insulted and a disdainful place.

It was not a bad place up until the owner, Mike, showed his true colors and showed the refuse of a person he is, and hope not a racist! He really thinks he's all

that with not a lick of gold standard. Yes, the dive DID have a decent selection of wines, but since when can a 'service provider' make the judgement call to not

serve a person based on his personal opinions of bigotry and arrogance?

If your feelings get hurt obviously you're not a mature person and should not be in the service industry. There is no excuse for not taking constructive criticism

and interpreting that as rude behavior. Most of the times the 'bodega'(if he even knows what that is) did not have the wines requested so I with other friends had to acquiesce to what was available. If you list it, by god, you better have it. As the saying goes, "Put up or shut up," but please do not take your short comings

on the clients who were supporting you and bringing more clientele. By refusing service he showed that he has no need, therefore deserves no further clientele!

But even if the spenditure was only a couple of hundred dollars a night on top of what my friends were spending, the potentiality was lost. Had the interpreted

'rudeness' been a factor,it was only noted by the imbecilic owner as my associates asked, "Did I miss something?" Maybe one day he will learn to be a man and get off his little white horse and appreciate that there is more to life than the little sty of a place that gives him worth and treat his customers better.

Disappointed – The music was annoying and way too loud for conversion; the clientele was rude; the bathrooms were filthy; people were in the parking lot eating out of the back of a pick-up; and the service was awful -- the bartender looked past us and we never saw a wine list.

Hard to believe Washington Ave has better service and ambiance than this dump. I don't think I'll be going back any time soon.

Wickedly Good! – Great wine bar, good ambiance, and good selection of wines. On a nice day, you can sit in their beautiful and lush courtyard.

As the name implies, Coolest Wine Bar Ever – My partner and I reside in Dallas, and we were visiting Houston for the weekend. Always on the hunt for a good wine bar, we happened upon 13 Celsius. All I can say is, I wish this wine bar was in Dallas.

We sat in the very cool and beautiful courtyard, lit by amber string lights and candles glowing along the back wall, and were lucky enough to meet Mike, the owner of this great wine bar. After a short discussion with Mike about the tasting notes that appeal to us, I confidently asked him to "just pour us what you think we would love." And he did! Really great wines, coupled with terrific discussions about the wines' origins, varietals and wine makers who crafted these terrific juices.

Instead of moving on to a new place for dinner, we decided to stay and sample some of the great panini and cheeses on offer. Wonderful presentation and incredible flavors. Try the salad with braciole with a great glass of something red (that Mike with pair for you). Like all good wine bars, the food at 13 Celsius is perfectly suited to really great food/wine pairings, and the staff was so knowledgeable in helping to create that perfect marriage of food and wine.

We loved this place so much that we decided to return the next day prior to our flight back to Dallas. We waited outside until 4:00, virtually with our noses pressed up to the window. Had a great (half price!!!! Yes, certain wines are offered at half price glass prices on Sunday!) glass before heading back to Dallas.

This place is great for the wine novice, the wine hobbyist, and the wine snob alike. Thinking of planning a trip back to Houston, just for another evening at 13 Celsius.

Sparkling Shiraz. All you need to know. – First off: I love 13. I love the ambiance. I love the building. I love the neighborhood.

Getting over my hang ups: I just can't justify spending $13/glass. Or waiting 30 min for my glass. It can be dead as a doornail or busy as a bee but I've never waited less than 15 min looking my thirstiest and eagerest to get help at the bar. And yes, one time I waited 30 min and all my friends were served until my glass of wine was served. And ... no apology.

But I've been back. Lots. On slow nights exclusively. Man, since they've redone their outdoor patio I can't get enough of it. BUT THE END ALL BE ALL: sparkling shiraz. To my knowledge you can only get this nectar at 13 and Sonoma. [Even Spec's had been out the last 5 times I've tried to purchase.]

I was lured back to 13 b/c a friend said they had $5 happy hour specials. Well, sure, white wine only and very little. I'm a low brow girl - where's my cheap prosecco? I like very little white wine. And none of it includes the word chardonnay. So I dropped a good amount of money [at least for me] to get my sparkling shiraz - hey, it was an exceptionally hard Monday. And yes, it was totally worth it. But I can only do that once every 6 months.

Conclusion: 13 is a place to escape the pretentious on the patio Sun - Wed if you can spend $9-13/glass AND IT IS TOTALLY WORTH IT. But otherwise, I choose boheme and other happy hours for my wine. I heard Reef has an amazingly low mark up - next on the list. I do love their scallops.

Very Enjoyable Wine Bar – We had a very enjoyable time at 13 Celsius. Everything from the wine to the service was top notch. Too far for us to be regulars but, if we were closer, it would be a regular spot for us.

Relaxed and Inviting – Went here on a Tuesday to have the cupcake and wine pairing, something they only do on Tuesdays I found out. All of the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The cupcakes were delicious as was the Panini. A great place to meet friends or hang out at the bar yourself.

Romantic cozy upscale wine bar – I think the pros and cons probably mostly cover it... this is a fine place for me where I don't feel weird being a wine amateur but wanting to enjoy good wine.

Cool and unique... – If you can make the drive... it's a lot of fun. It's unique with outdoor seating. The atmosphere is kind of cold but it fits the style so it's not likely by accident. The wine selection is long as well as the meat/cheeses. Me and my girlfriends had a blast when were here but the drive was a bit of a pain. We'll try it again if we ever make it down there with gas prices the way they are! Does 13 Celsius offer free taxis to outer-loopers? haha..

My other favorite wine bar. – The thing that I most love about this place and what would keep me coming here it the building. They did a great job on it and I love everything about it. The guys behind the bar (owners?) are hugely knowlegable about their wines. I've always enjoyed their recommendations. The cheese plates are very good and nicely presented. They have a really good beer selection. Try the Fireman's #4 which is a Texas beer that's turning up on tap and in bottles all over town these days. Some of the women that work their could use an attitude adjustment at times. I've had friends complain about this too. The guys are always nice but the woman are just rude sometimes. There's never an excuse for that and this place, though it does a nice steady business, has never been really crowded the many times I have been there so it's not like they were being testy because they were really busy. Of course, that won't stop of from going, we just avold the ladies working there.
