We've been planning a family trip to NY for 3 months and a tour of the 9/11 Memorial and Lower Manhattan was the first thing on our agenda. Completed the tour today and wrote the following email to NYCVP.

"Just wanted to give you some feedback on today’s 9/11 and Lower Manhattan tour.

Your web site says we will get/see:

***Admission to the newly-opened National 9/11 Memorial WE DID THIS

***Ground Zero, where you will witness the progress of the World Trade Center rebuilding efforts - the new Number One World Trade Center "The Freedom Tower." WE DID THIS

***The Winter Garden, with its unparalleled view of the "Footprints" of the former Twin Towers, the “teardrop” memorial to those who lost their lives at the WFC WE DID THIS (BATHROOM BREAK WAS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED)

***The Bronze FDNY 9-11 Memorial Wall, a 56-foot long bronze sculpture that shows firefighters battling the smoldering towers, located on the side of New York City's famed fire station "10 House," the former Reily Hose No. 10 firehouse NOPE – DID NOT SEE THIS

***The NYC Police Memorial at the World Financial Center, a moving tribute to all NYC police officers who have been lost in the line of duty HMMMM – DON’T THINK SO – WE SAW A STATUE TO THOSE RESPONDERS WHO DIED ON 9/11, BUT NOTHING TO ALL WHO HAVE BEEN LOST IN THE LINE OF DUTY

***Other touching memorials, both temporary and permanent, to the victims of September 11.

***Moving tributes to September 11th heroes at St. Paul’s Chapel, New York’s only surviving pre-Revolutionary church NOPE – DIDN’T GO HERE – AND HAD TO MAKE A POINT OF GOING BACK ON OUR OWN BECAUSE IT’S SUCH AN IMPORTANT PLACE

***Trinity Church, where Alexander Hamilton and Robert Fulton are buried WELL – WE WALKED BY IT AND HEARD A STORY ABOUT THE GUIDE’S WIFE WANTING TO APPLY FOR THE RECTOR’S POSITION – NEVER HEARD ONE WORD ABOUT ALEXANDER HAMILTON OR ANY OTHER HISTORICAL FIGURE

***The Neo-Gothic Woolworth Building, the world's tallest building from 1913-1929 NOPE – COULDN’T EVEN TELL YOU WHERE THIS IS – DIDN’T HEAR ONE WORD ABOUT IT

***A walk down narrow Wall Street, past the New York Stock Exchange and Federal Hall National Memorial, where you can see the scars of the 1920 terrorist attack on the JP Morgan Building WE DID THIS

So – seems like we paid for quite a number of things we did not get. I know sometimes the situation requires things be modified, but really feel like I wasted my money. In addition, we had a love him/hate him reaction to Hal. I think he is an amazing source of information about the city and probably knows a ton of facts we never heard. Sadly, he also loves to “preach”. I really didn’t see any reason we had to get a lecture on how awful food vendors are, or be told we should never eat in any restaurant in Little Italy, or what an idiot he thinks Mayor Giuliani is, or hear a story about a man who “died happy” even though he wasn’t with his wife, or be told that he was VERY familiar with sensors because of his previous years in broadcasting and that nothing he had said would be considered a problem. There were some other things, but you get the picture.

I know you won’t refund our money, but I certainly hope you’ll give some serious thought to what you advertise compared to what you provide. In addition, if Hal is the type of person you think best represents your company, you might want to rethink things." (End of Email)

My message to all of you thinking about using these folks - RUN AWAY!!!!! The only reason I didn't give it a "Terrible" rating is that when the guide was doing his job, he really did know some interesting facts.

If I hear from them I will update this post.
