Good stuff – I'm pretty sure TANTAWAN is in Silverlake/Echo Park area, not Santa Monica like the address on this page says. They may be related to california vegan in SM though... not sure. Regardless, they deliver to my place in Silverlake.
Now, I'm not Vegan or a Vegetarian, but I still order from here all the time. With the exception of the "chicken" nuggets (which are surprisingly addictive) I don't really do the fake meats, but that's cool- I just order tofu instead. In fact, in most regular Thai restaurants I go with Tofu too. Just my thing, I guess.
Moving on- the soups are excellent and the spicy eggplant is outstanding. Curries are great as well. Can't go wrong with the spring rolls either. I've been really happy with everything I've ordered here.
Customer service is fantastic as well. Delivery is always super quick and the people are really friendly.
Even if you're not Vegan or a Vegetarian, give this place a chance some night- it's totally legit. A healthy(er) alternative and just as tasty as most delivery places in the area.
best meat substitute – Not a vegetarian? You'll still love the soy chicken and you won't believe the soy shrimp. It tastes like shrimp! Maybe that will gross out some of you vegetarians but you will surely enjoy the friendly service and food. Great alternative to traditional Thai.
Delicious Thai Food! – California Vegan has delicious Thai and American food. They have a wide variety of food to choose from including some very tasty desserts. The service is excellent. The restaurant is clean and beautiful. I love the curries and noodle dishes and really anything I have ever ordered there. They have all the standard Thai fare plus "burgers" and wraps. Of course since the food is vegan, it is of course cholesterol free. But whether you are vegetarian or not you will love this cuisine. From pancakes to Thai dishes, to American fare, to tasty desserts, with such a wide variety there is something for everyone to order. I guarantee you will be happy you went there. I strongly recommend it. Enjoy!
Deliciously satisfying every time – Going to California Vegan has become at least a weekly event in my life. Although I'm not vegan, I absolutely love the feeling that comes with enjoying a delicious, nutritious meal that doesn't rely on harming or killing animals. I enjoy the great variety of choices at California Vegan -- and I especially like the orange chicken, the chicken satay and the wraps.
The staff is very friendly, and the food is prepared right away and is usually at the table within five minutes.
They also offer free delivery, which I've enjoyed on those lazy nights!
Great customer service!!!!! – First and formost I'm a first timer. I'm not a vegan by nature, but my ex-girlfriend introduce me to this place in West L.A. on sunset "California Vegan" . I didnt like the food at first cuz I'm a meat eating kind of man , but as time goes by I started to enjoy the food their..Service was excellent everytime I came in they Alway greeted me by my first name .(once they got to know me .) The Santa Monica location is even better. They make me feel like I'm familiy when I'm there. they got an excellent viwe of Santa Monica blvd. My favorite dishes there are the "orange chicken"and "teriyaki chicken". like I said earlier I'm a meat eating man.. try the warps too, not bad at all. If you love spicy food I highly recommen the spicy mint noodles with soy fish and the spicy green bean seitan.. these two will make you say " more water please" so if you have a chance or just in the neighbor hood stop by and try it out .. I eaten there about 2-4 times a week.
awesome vegan food – I am not even vegan but I love eating here, it tastes just like meat! My favorites are the soy orange chicken (tastes like panda express, without the heartburn!) and the vege chicken. Generous portions at a good price, good friendly service, nice view of santa monica blvd! i tried the raw cheesless cheesecake, it was excellent!
Your review is very cheerful and prove what we believe,Thank you very very much.
Good Prices. Food not bad, but there is better vegan and raw in town. – I've only been vegan for about a year. In the past week I've been trying different vegan and raw restaurants around town. California Vegan isn't bad, but the "soy fish" is a little weird. I guess I'm just more of a purist when it comes to taste, no matter what I'm eating. There's little ambience, but good service. The prices are really good, but for two or three bucks more, I'd suggest going down towards the beach to Juliano's Raw. Much better food and really not that more expensive for the quality you get. At California Vegan I didn't really feel like I was eating healthy. Sure there are some options that are healthier than others, but when I asked the waitress what is popular, it was pretty much all of the cooked or fried flavored fake meats. Anyway, I'm not sure I'll be back as I've found better places to go for vegan cuisine.

Editorial Review – Vegan fare includes Asian-style dishes like Pad Thai and yellow curry, as well as unique creations like soy meat steak or lentil loaf.
