Great tasting fresh bread – Tasty breads-especially the hi5 fiber and the dessert breads. Also great whole grain brownies (the best I have had so far). Breads are very fresh and do not have any preservatives. I can eat them just as without any butter
Wonderful breads and fantastic cookies too! – The bread at Great Harvest is always fresh, and the selection is sometimes breathtaking. We keep finding ourselves going in for one loaf of white or wheat bread and leaving with three or four loaves and a couple of their great cookies as well! Luckily, the bread freezes well, and tastes just as good when thawed. We particularly like the Farmhouse white (which makes awesome PB&J's), the pepperoni bread, and the cheddar cheese bread, which is a great side to an assertive food like chili -- one of our favorite combinations. My personal favorite, though has to be the Cinnamon bread -- it makes the world's best french toast!
One thing that is a bit surprising -- Great Harvest doesn't use any preservatives in their breads, which makes you think that you'd have to eat them immediately, but we've found that they stay wonderfully fresh while sealed in the bags for several days -- if you can keep from eating it that long!
A bakery whose main ingredient is love!! – This is a store which wraps its arms around you as you walk through the door, and gives you hugs in great doses. You immediately know that the main ingredient in each of their fantastic products is love. Some stores in the area offer you samples. At Great Harvest, they don't offer samples, they give slices!! You don't sample fragments of muffins, but a large portion of a muffin. Same thing for the cookies and breads. Undoubtedly, more then one person has left the store filled up on samples.
Then there's the ambience. Visit there more then a couple of times and they'll call you by name after that. These aren't some nameless strangers, but friends, who have baked for you.
The products match the ambience. They don't have many breads available when they first open, which is a good thing. The reason is that they mill their flour fresh every morning, while we're all asleep. So when you buy bread from this store, it is fresher then you could have imagined.
This area has more then its share of run of the mill chain stores, which provide a sameness that is boring, yet for some, is welcome. Although Great Harvest is part of a larger group, it should be considered an independent bakery, run by people who care about the product and customers. Do yourself a favor and go out of your way to become part of the Great Harvest family.
Fresh from the Oven!! – This chain of bread stores is a favorite of ours in Ohio. But don't let that word "chain" throw you. This isn't corporate bread. This store is locally owned and operated by a married couple who have their hearts and their wallets invested in the product. And what a product! Everything is baked on the premises every day. Everything is fresh when you buy it and the ingredients are all top shelf. My personal favorite is the Cinnamon Swirl Bread. It is sinfully good! If I have any problem at all it is only that they bake to a schedule that does not seem to allow them to make the same breads on every day. So you have to keep aware of the days you will be able to get the bread you want. This place just opened in February, 2007 so local awareness is just taking root. The bad news for us is that as Caryites become more familiar with the fantastic products and great service at this store it will become more and more difficult to get your favorite bread without making a reservation.
The Oatmeal Raisin cookies are to die for, There is another french-themed bakery in Cary that used to be my favorite. That place is a lot prettier than this one. But pretty doesn't trump good and it doesn't get much better than this!
Franchise bread bakery offers a large variety, all made from scratch everyday. – In Short
Music bounces between the bright yellow walls, and behind the counter, five or six bakers smile and chat to one another while kneading away. What seems like a grand opening promotion is really the everyday feel-good environment you get as you are ordering the freshest and tastiest bread possible. They actually stone-grind their own flour each morning, which is a laborious task, but you can certainly taste the advantage.
