Too much $$$$ for uncooked food and bad waitress – My friends and I decided to treat ourselves to a pre-valentine day dinner and chose this location. This was my first time going. My friends had been to CL location before. The Service was lousy, we had to ask our waitress for the peanuts. We ordered 3 pina coladas, 1 was a Virgin. The Rasta Pasta was uncooked with no vegetables. My friend had to ask for some sauce for her fish. We ordered no appetizers or desert and the bill was $155. When I did the break out for the Virgin Pina Colada I was charged $1 less than the regular pina coladas. I gave a rating of sorta good because my friend who ordered the salmon in coconut and curry her meal was delicious. But for me -- You never get a second chance to make a first impression. I will not go back even if I am offered a free meal at Footprints.
Pasta should not be chewy!!! – I've been to both locations several times over the past 7 years and the service has consistently been average.
Visited the CI location yesterday with a few friends. We all had different variations of the rasta pasta because it's usually pretty good. Now, I'm no chef, but I know, that pasta should not be chewy. I should not have to pick it out of my teeth!! But that is just what I had to do during and after yesterday's meal. While I appreciated the fact that there were more veggies( broccoli, carrots, cauliflower) in the vegan rasta pasta, I couldn't get past the fact that I spent so much time actually trying to chew the pasta.
Drinks were okay. Refills took forever to get to the table. And AFTER we finished eating, 3 glasses of water were brought to the table....even though we were a party of 4.
Needless to say, the service and the food left a bad taste in my mouth.
Won't spend another nickle in there – I live in Coney Island, and have visited this place on the off season when it's empty. Whether Summer, or Winter the wait staff is clearly not interested in any customers other than African-American.
I've sat at the bar when the restaurant is empty, and have had the bartender walk out from around the bar, and wait 30 minutes for a drink.
I've ordered food to go, and have waited over an hour, again when the bar was empty. I've waited in line to get a table, and I've been skipped numerous times, and when I spoke up got ignored and had the seater roll her eyes at me.
As of the other day, I've been pawned off to about 5 different people to find out where my to go order was, before just abandoning ship.
If you ask why I kept going back, it's because the food is really good. But, even really good food could be found in places that don't prescribe to reverse discrimination.
The Bar Lounge Setting – I was happy to be in Brooklyn. The Long Island setting is getting played out and it is time to play the city hard this summer, since it's close to me. I would go back, but next time I will pick a different dish.......
Way better than its other location – I love the food, the wait staff is funny, the decor is nice, you can sit on the balcony up stairs in the summer and cool it at a table downstairs or upstairs, theme evening like, latin night, open mic, etc. and drink specials makes you take the trip to Coney island even when its not summer.
Great food – This place is great, our waiter was a bit on the weird side but the food and drinks made up for it. JerkChicken strips were delicious. I didn't like my entree "Bourbon chicken & shrimp" but my husband had oxtails w/ rice and peas and it was AMAZING.... They had so many drinks to choose from and the dessert was good. I'll definitely go back!
