BuyBacks is among a growing number of merchants who disregard the Visa and Mastercard policies against requiring an ID when paying by credit card. "Requiring ID for credit card purchases" is a policy that helps nobody -- certainly not the customer -- and only serves to aid in identity theft. Sometimes all a dishonest clerk needs is to memorize your zip code, and now they've got everything necessary to use your card number later. I've even had my entire driver's license number stolen in the past, and wholeheartedly support and understand why it's against Visa and Mastercard policy.
This is completely lost on the staff at BuyBacks. Not only do they not care that they're breaking their merchant agreement with Visa and Mastercard (which can result in hefty fines, or the suspension of their ability to even accept credit cards at all), I'm not even entirely sure they understand it.
Although this is my biggest complaint, it's not the only one. As somebody who collects games, it bothers me that much of their selection has been moved to new "generic" DVD cases rather than the original game cases, making them less valuable for collecting. Moreover, the staff is rude and unhelpful, conducting business with an attitude that they'd rather be anywhere else but there.
Despite their low prices on used games -- their only saving grace, in fact -- I can't recommend Buybacks at all. In fact, I won't be returning until their policies are in line with what the credit card companies require of them. I'm submitting reports, and hopefully a fine or two will take care of that.
disappointing – I agree. Confusing order of items. hard to find anything you really want. They do give more, not much but more than other buying places do. Sell only if you have to.
Not even Mildly Impressed – I have gone here several times in search of low cost blu-ray movies and found that they have a small selection, actually only half a wall. And of those they were priced pretty high for used movies. The times I went in the evening it was a hit and miss thing on weither they would be open. The hours say they are open till 9:00 but normally everything is locked up around 8:30 to 8:45.
They have a very large selection of DVDs but those are also slightly more than I would like to pay for used movies. Case in point another store had the exact same blue-ray brand new for a lower cost than what they were selling it used.
The TV series seasons are rare and what they do have is passable. The video games and CDs are about the same.
The shelving methoid is confusing and every time I have gone looking for something specific I have had to ask an employee where is was. The employees do not like to come out from behind the counter to help and let you know about it.
Lastly, I have never traded in any movies but have gone with a friend when she had. She sold House Seasons 1-4 and was given $25 for all of them. So I would not reccomend selling anything unless you have a double of something (which my friend did) or you just really hated the movie.
Personally I would not reccomend this store to anyone.
Worth a look – Its a mixed bag with this place depending on what your looking for.
Im not impressed with the video game prices.
its kind of a pain to look through cds the way they are shelved.
On the positive they have rare and unique items that are at a premium price but great for collectors.
They have decent prices on most DVDs and sometimes great close outs on overstock.
The reason I go there however is simply to buy Bluray movies. They have the largest selection I have found in Wichita and the prices are better than the competition in most cases.
I have never traded or sold anything to them so I have no idea what they offer in that area.
Not much money – Use them for resale ONLY if you must.
They don't offer you much money at all for used good cd's nor dvd's.
Ok to buy from but amazon has it also cheaper
