My humble opinion – I go to alot of places here and review as a side job.
I wanted to like this place seeing as they have so many coupons BUT, I will never return to this place ever again.
While the staff is somewhat friendly and attentive (as is the norm in NOLA) the food is less than average and the prices are way to high for the ingredients used. It is clear that they are using cheap ingredients and add insult to injury by giving you the smallest portion size in the city. THE SMALLEST.
Further, they make up interesting rules to go with the coupons that are not printed on the coupon. Bad for business folks. This is New Orleans, home of some of the world's finest ...Pepperoni's Cafe is not one of them. Avoid avoid avoid and let them close down so a better place can move into the space.
To Set the Record Straight – First of all, I would like to address the other complaints I have read about this place. I have never found the staff anything but accommodating and friendly. Yes, they have been looking for more help but Christ, give them a break, would you? It's not easy--if anything it's stressful when you are understaffed and trying to compensate for it. The attitudes I hear from people when they are not getting their way when they say it is appalling. People are human. And so are you.
The food is exceptional. They actually make their own bread when it comes out. And if you ARE KIND TO THEM they give you little coupons and discounts for the next time you come in, encouraging more business. It is very clean every time I eat there, and I eat there at least twice a month. The food is cheap but still delicious.
Also, I do believe the street car DOES go that far. But the cafe is just not located ON Carrollton, it's on Hampson, OFF of Carrollton.
RUN TO PEPPERONI'S. Give it a try. You won't be sorry. They are some wonderful people and they will have some wonderful food waiting for you. Don't forget to try their desserts!!!
Breakfast was fabulous! – Set out to have breakfast at a place across from Pepperoni's Cafe on a Sunday morning but there was a long line. Decided to give it a try. It was well worth it. Generous portions and the coffee was great, They just started serving breakfast recently. The Eggs Sardou with spinach and artichokes and their version of Hollandaise Sauce was the best breakfast I had in New Orleans.
Conveniently 1 block off the S. Carrollton street car line and the Mississippi bike trail.
They just need to lower the height of the built in booth a bit. A little uncomfortable especially if you are tall!
Just AWFUL...run, do not walk away from this place! – Terrible food. I ordered a pasta entree from here that was supposed to come with angel hair pasta but instead came with spaghetti...the manager I spoke to about it claimed that it was because of a storm that had wiped out their spaghetti....okay, so why not tell a customer beforehand? Explanation he gave also made no sense. Manager also dealt with the situation terribly-was extremely rude, and refused to give a refund. Claimed that once debit card order is process cannot give refunds...bull. Also kept me on hold for over 30 minutes and told me "I have more important customers to attend to." Very shady business practices. Would not recommend this place to anyone...
Very good uptown Pizza – We were visiting the uptown area when we decided to eat at this cafe. You've got the streetcar nearby. The neighborhood is clean and the surrounding businesses give it a 'plaza' atmosphere. The service was prompt and courteous! The mozzarella cheese was fresh on the pizza with a soft chewy crust. The dough was well cooked and managed, which is a big deal to me because I don't care for hard, brittle or gummy crusts! oh! The veggie sandwiches were impeccable! Its usually hard to get others to make this without a mistake like adding pieces of meat to your pizza or sacrificing taste. Overall, I was impressed with the whole experience and I would strongly recommend this place to tourists and locals who enjoy eating pizzas.
worst lunch specials ever! – I beleive that the place doesn't have enough people to work. There is only one person to take phone orders and is the same person to attend tables. This leaves tables with plates stacked and people hungry and not served right.
The lunch special is ridiculous, The sandwich for the lunch special is just one slice of bread cut in half!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean, come on this is just cheap!
The piza is ok, but other than that there is nothing good in the menu. Wings are small and very small portion. mufulata used to be big, now its ssmall. poboys dont even get me started. The spagetis is just noodles, no meat.
Like I said, pizza is ok, but not great. I would rather go to reginellis in magazine because pizza is fresh, great ingredients and they have beer. Pepperonis have ber and wine in the menu but they dont serve it because they can't yet. Owner of the place is very anoying, very anoying. Please do yourself a favor and don't go there. seriously.
This place is SOOOOO bad! – It is very frustrating to pay so much money and the food be SOOOO bad. The service was very bad too. Don't waste your money!
Worst Pizza in New Olreans! – This is some of the worst pizza I have ever had. You might as well eat frozen. The service was terrible, the server left all of the plates on the table -there were 7 of us eating so they were stacking up. And the place has flies, 2 or 3 flies were buzzing our table the whole time. Not recommended. Do yourself a favor and go to LPK!
Excellent food at a reasonable price topped just by outstanding service. – This is one the best kept secrets in New Orleans. Great food, reasonable prices. Very clean premisses, and very friendly staff. They offer an Express Lunch Special. Good portion, fast service, and tasty food.
Their wheat dough is as good as their regular dough. People should really try this place.
Delicious pizza – We came across this place on a leisurely walk and decided to order a pizza to go for dinner. The mozzarella is fresh on the pizza with a satisfying chewy crust. They go easy on the sauce, which my husband prefers. They have great, friendly service as well. We'll definitely be back!
