My favorite is the Guava and cheese strudel. So good!
Simply put, Porto's Bakery is one of the BEST, if not the BEST, bakeries in the city! You can't go wrong with the cakes, pastries, sandwiches & other baked delights here. Order the Cuban sandwich, a dozen potato balls & a fresh fruit tarts and tiramisu for dessert!
Popular Cuban bakery has lunch lines out the door for tortas and pastrami sandwiches, but the real reasons to celebrate are the cream and fruit-filled cakes popular with office parties the city over.
Run, don't walk! To PORTOS – Oh man, this place is crowded, but oh is it soooo good. Meat pies could have more meat. I could get really fat going here - I have to limit myself. Prices are great - congratulations on a fine business, portos!
Amazing Dessert – Amazing dessert! The Guava cheese bread pastries and Cheese roll are not to be missed, I love all cake here not too sweet and fresh. The Burbank location is a little more relaxed than the Glendale location.
Don't care about customers – I've had cakes from Porto's on three occassions and was only impressed with the quality and flavor of one out of those three.
My third experience with this bakery was a cake I ordered to celebrate birthdays in my office. The cake came with the wrong filling, which I of course was unaware of until we cut into it to serve; we still ate it, of course. I later called the bakery and spoke to a manager, asking for either my money back or a replacement cake with the filling I had ordered, even in a smaller size, and the manager was unwilling to help in any logical way. He offered looking into it and then, if I was not lying, would grant me a discount off another purchase. He said that the cake was their product and if I couldn't return it to them, they could not replace it.
So, I NEVER GOT THE CAKE I ORDERED AND PAID FOR. The cake wasn't even any better than one from a grocery store, and definitely not as good as one I could have made myself for a fraction of the cost--and I would have made it with the correct filling.
I will never again give Porto's my money to do with as they please, making whatever cake they feel like and then refusing to do anything to make things right.
Solid Bakery Cafe – It the Burbank branch of the famous Porto's.
The food is good. At the bakery, I would stick with bread and plain pastry items over sweets. The sweets always seem bland, not rich and buttery and sugary like you'd think they would be.
Also, they close at 7pm! I know it is a bakery and lunch place, but they are always packed up until close. I would go here a lot more if they stayed open a couple hours later. I'm sure they still have plenty of customers.
best bakery in the world! – This place is simply amazing, the sandwiches are great, pastries are unbelievable, and the breads are just delicious!
Quality food for a great price – They have amazing everything! The Guava cheese bread pastries are not to be missed, the potatoballs are great you can have 2 for a lunch and be stuffed. The Burbank location is a little more relaxed than the Glendale location. The lines can get really long and daunting but they move very quickly.
Best Bakery in Town – They sure know how to make great food at Porto's. Everything from their amazing cakes to their wonderful pastries and salads are delicious. I have never been dispapointed with what I have ordered here. They also serve coffees and other drinks. There are many cuban delicacies that I would recommend like the potato & meat circular things and meat pies.
I have taken their pastries to many event and they quickly are snatched up. If you are interested in coming here please expect to wait in a line, but the staff is good at making the line move quickly. They are very strict about thier cake pick up time but OH are the cakes fresh when you pick them up. The cakes can be very intricate and there are many flavors to choose from.
I would really recommend this to anyone.
Great Food, not so great Customer Service – The positive is that the food is always delicious. I've had sandwiches and savory pastries and ordered cakes and croissants.
This last time I ordered a cake, when I went to pick it up they told me they were just about to set it out for sale because I didn't come within the 2 hour window of time. Well, I'd told them when I ordered it that I'd pick up after noon. There was no mention of a specific window of time. They need to make sure to communicate that to people at the time they are ordering, not when you come to pick up your order.
Best AM Restaurant – I've only ever been to Portos in the mornings for breakfast, but every time has been fantastic! The atmosphere, service, food, and prices are all really great! I recommend this restaurant to anyone who is in the mood to treat themselves.
