I actually have heard that the food is good from my sister. However, having read how rude the owner is I think I will pass. I was planning on taking my boyfriend there, he is allergic to shellfish, and the owner doesn't sound very accomodating and she just sounds horrilbe rude. I think I'll pass
Rude Owner, Crappy Food – I had been a loyal customer for a long time. One day my friend was visiting. As a local, I tried to take her to all the great places around. I was excited to show her Sushi Ring. We ordered the all you can eat deal. Since it was my friend's first time there, she wanted to try a variety of sushi. Obviously you could do that with all you can eat.
There was one order that she didn't like that much, so she left 3 pieces of sushi there. Then the lady who seems to be in charge there came up and told her that she won't get any more sushi unless she finishes all the pieces. My friend insisted that she didn't like those, and that lady stared at her with a nasty, disrespectful facial expression and said something like "this is the rule and you have to eat them...or we can't make you any more food..."
What?! That was just ridiculous! We paid for the food and now they can't serve any more food?? I've never seen any restaurant that treats their customers like that! I can't believe someone that rude could work there, unless she's the owner. If that's the case, it's even worse, because that place won't ever get better. I was disappointed and felt sorry that my friend had a bad experience. I will NEVER take or recommend anyone there ever. And I wouldn't even get any close to that place from that time on.
Horrible Customer Service – This used to be my favorite place for sushi until my father was in town. My husband and I took my parents and our three kids (12, 6, and 5) to Sushi Ring and when Elvis' wife asked who was eating all you can eat, we said everyone but the little ones. I told her that my youngest was allergic to shell fish so cannot eat anything off of the line and that my middle child only eats pot stickers. She then explained that the two little ones had to sit at another table. We told her that that was not going to happen so she said fine, but they had to sit at the end of table together. They are a boy and a girl, who if sitting together would be crazy, so I sat between them at the end of the table. She freaked out! My father then told her that if she wanted us to stay, then that is how we were sitting. She looked right at my father and said, "You need to learn the rules of this restaurant." So we got up and left. I was shocked. I have working in customer service for 20 years. I would never say something like that to someone! She was soo rude!! This was not the first time she was rude, but for us, it would be the last.
Best service and sushi around – I go to the Sushi Ring at least once a week. The fish is always fresh and the service is great. Elvis the sushi chef alway livens up the place with his humor and wit. It is a good price for all you can eat. $23.95 for lunch. I usually eat 40 pieces of Nigiri which I certainly couldn't get for that price anywhere else. This place is an A++
The tuna is pink? – I don't mean pink as in kind of a reddish-pink that meat is often described as. I mean decisively hot pink (has to be dye). It just doesn't look right. It tastes okay, but it makes me nervous.
The rolls weren't as good as Sushi Zen's (which is just a block or two away). I trust Sushi Zen more, and they don't try to hide their fish by covering it with dye.
Won't return as it's not fun to be nervous about what you're trying to eat.
All you can eat adventure like no other... – We had heard so many things about this little place in Silver Lake that we decided to give it a shot. Since there are so many decent places in the Seattle area for Sushi, this place has to be pretty amazing for me to go again. It is.
First off, it's 24.95 for all you can eat sushi. Usually when you go to an all you can eat joint, they don't make the sushi like the would the ala-carte and it usually takes forever to get the refills once you are 3 or 4 in. Not this place--we sat at the long and beautiful sushi bar and literally from the time we sat down until we left, they were giving us more and more, faster than we could eat it at a few points. The ambiance here is amazing--the master Chef, Elvis, is the coolest man to ever come out of Japan. He was carrying on with everyone is the place, making it such a fun experience, not like anywhere in this country I have ever been. I literally tested the boundries of this place, eating almost everything Nigiri on the menu, while my friends went directly for the rolls. which were amazing.
The quality of the fish itself is medium to high--but much better than any all you can eat place you will find anywhere else, especially in Seattle. The sushi chefs are very, very good at what they do, so make friends with them and try to get a place setting next to Elvis-- you'll know him instantly when you see him.
All in all, this is a fantastic place to go and eat, both for the sushi and ambience-- which is something I never find myself saying in Seattle.
