Great Salon – The Ozen family styled my hair back in the late 70s, and I was delighted to find that they are still in Austin! The atmosphere is great and service is outstanding. I recommend Kerem or Selma for all your styling needs.
Good haircut, but lacks integrity – I had to call 2x over a few days (during business hours) & no one answered. I had to leave voicemails with no returned call. It was a hope to get an appt for Saturday. So, I called back (again) very early Saturday morning (4/2/11) to see if I could get an appt... They did answer the phone finally, but unfortunately the stylist that put the Ad Pages Coupon up was fully booked already (Kerem). So, I had to make an appt for this last Saturday (4/9/11).
To backup here, I did purchase a coupon online thru Ad Pages (yes, one of those you pre-pay for); it stated "$25 for a $50 Haircut (including shampoo, cut, & style)". I'm a bargain hunter & this was great!
Kerem saw me right away & was friendly. And, as others that have reviewed - he does do a good haircut. However, I have had $50+ haircuts - & his still lacks a bit to where I wouldn't jump up & down to pay $50 for it (by taking his time to make sure it is done right as opposed to speeding thru it). But, he was so friendly & it's hard to find a good stylist, to where I was seriously considering going back anyway.
After what happened next, I won't be going back. Since I had purchased the coupon a month ago, & I had a very busy & early morning with doing a garage sale; my mind was elsewhere. When I went to the front to check-out, I gave him my debit card & he asked "how much would you like to put on this?" I said "$35". My 1st thought was $25 for the haircut then $10 for the tip. He ran it thru without question, & once I signed the receipt, he quickly went back to his station. I had handed him the coupon as soon as I 1st saw him; so he knew about it. But, I left - went all the way back home, sat down for a minute & it dawned on me what had happened. My friends/sister were there & encouraged me to go back & explain what happened - so I drove all the way back to make a fool of myself to get my money back. My main thought was "Why would I essentially pay full price for something I went out of my way to buy a coupon for??"
As time went on as I was driving - I kept thinking "Gosh, this guy was trying to prey upon my absent-mindedness, without even a thought to clarify or do the right thing." Surely he knew I wouldn't pay full price for something I gave him a coupon for - that defeats the purpose.
Kerem was neutral when I came back - he wasnt rude or anything...but he wasn't understanding or agreeing with me that I paid him too much either. I basically gave him a $35 tip, which is high on most standards - & he didn't even bat an eye. He did refund my money, & I handed him cash for his tip. The guy drives a brand-new Jaguar - for us average people, saving a little money is a refreshing thing...& he shouldn't make us feel bad for wanting a bargain every now & then. If he didn't want to give out $25 haircuts (plus tip), then he shouldn't have put out the coupon. I know these type of coupons are a smart way to drum-up new & repeat business - but what he did to me just made it to where he won't have repeat business from me.
The best hairdresser in Austin – Kerem has a awesome eye for hair. He is a great colorist. He is polite, and very helpful, and explains what he is going to do.
Great stylist, and does what the customer wants, and not what he wants.
a great guy
Best hair dresser in Austin! – Just went to Selma's for the first time and came out with the best haircut and color I've had in a long time! Kerem is awesome and I have found my new favorite salon!
Kerem Ozen is the one to go to for cuts and updo's! – I have been going to Kerem for about 5 years and my hair always looks great. It's always even and he makes it so easy to style. I recently went to a wedding and wanted an updo. I spotted a picture online and sent it to him. I showed up for my usual haircut then he started on it and finished in just minutes- it looked AMAZING and just like the picture which we all know never happens! I received a ton of compliments and even slept in it so I could enjoy it a little the next day. There was not one pin showing. I bring this up because I just saw a girl get an updo for some event and all the pins were showing.
You will have a great experience and walk out a happy customer for sure!
Amazing, Professional, and Skilled – Kerem has the calling to be a hair stylist - he has something the best schools can't teach. He can read his client and create exactly what you need for a hair style. I've tried to explain to various individuals what I want my hair to look like - no pictures ever got the point across. I told Kerem to do whatever he wanted to my hair - yes, I trusted him that much. He created the exact picture I had in my head without one word from me. I love my haircut and highlights he added! He is amazing and very very good at what he does. I wish I could come to Austin every 6 weeks just to get my hair done by Kerem!
Besides everything else, Kerem is a great human being - I would trust him with my daughter! That's saying something.
Don't wait - call him for an appointment TODAY.
Great Hair Stylist!!! – I went in to Selmas Friday after being referred to Kerem Ozen by a good friend. I have to tell you all, this was hands down the best hair cut/style I ever received.
I walked in to Selmas wanting a new hair style. In the past, it has been my experience that every time I want a new style, I don't get exactly what I am looking for. Not the case this go around.
Kerem listened my request, explained with confidence how he would obtained the results and performed the cut with ease. He also gave great advice on how to maintain the style and how to care for and style my hair at home.
The only thing I regret is not having gone to Kerem sooner.
This guy is a 5 Star wonder!
Great cut Kerem!!!

He can be called at 512-249-8900 so I would encourage ANYONE to make an appointment FAST! He has changed my hair in more ways than one..its just not the FAB color, its how healthy my hair has become! He takes his time, listens to what you need and is also willing to give discounts to his clients when they refer others! Nothing about this man is negative...if you want your hair to look good, feel good, and last longer than a month CALL KEREM!!!! YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED!!!!
Kerem's the man! – I recently got my hair cut from Kerem and was hands down the best haircut i have had in a long time, if not ever. I usually go to a Super Cuts or the like and have always been disappointed. For a very little extra Kerem will make you look like a million bucks.
The magic is real – I have lived in Austin for a few years, and I have never written a review before because I had given up hope of finding a Salon that offered class and a low-pressure atmosphere. That is until I found Kerem! His vibe is cool and trendy, but he is relaxing as well- his work is amazing and like magic, my frizzy and unruly hair became a masterpiece. I'm hooked! And thus I felt compelled to write this review because he is just that good.
