good... for Mpls – Envy is pretty fun, always packed on Saturday, nice that there is the option of the two different rooms one with dance, one mostly hip hop. But... I dont know why the dj's in mpls insist on playing the same current top 40s and the same old top 40s.. no more old snoop please!!! Any other city in this country plays a mix of music,.. and oddly when you play a mix of different music you get more of a mixed crowed! So as I said its good because if you like dancing.. and not with frat boys .. this is really your only option here!!

dancer – A stripper I met awhile back in Wisconsin dances here. Tall, thin blond with artificial breasts, sh'es also in a calender.

Gross men – Average on a good night. Men here are a bit sleazy and need to keep their groping hands to themselves. Yeah, I look good, but that doesn't mean touch me. Drinks are overpriced and weak. If you're into electronica, you probably know the difference between good and bad stuff. One room in Envy plays electronika, but none of the DJ's which are actually good are played. There's a lot of hype around this place, but you're better off frequenting any other club. There really isn't much of a difference between any of them. except that I'd say most have a better floor setup than Envy.

Not enough room for dancing! – We had to try the new club in Minneapolis to see if it brought anything new and exciting. Sorry to say, just another run of the mill club. Expensive drinks (no specials as far as I could tell) and it was so crowded with, lets say "wannabe" types that we felt like we were hanging out in the suburbs. They had a DJ who was playing some pretty good stuff, but the "dance floor" was right inside the front door, and people had to pass through it to get to the bar or the bathrooms. We were being pushed out of the way so much, we finally just sat back down.

The other laughable feature was the curtained off area behind the bar. We thought it was VIP, but they opened the curtain about 12:30 or so, and it was just another area for people to stand around and talk. Why curtain it off? The whole place just seemed full of itself. Envy: You can keep your high cover charge, lack of dance floor, and expensive drinks. I'd rather go to Karma for all that.

Re: Nothing to Envy...ditto – As far as the local clubs go, this place is fun. BUT...it's not anything you haven't seen before in Mpls. The crowd is obviously mosty from the suburbs. Yes I am talking about you - trying to dress up, wearing sunglasses, wearing fedoras, acting like you're so hot. It's actually humorous for the rest of us to watch. If you don't mind spending a little more than usual, the place is okay, and worth checking out a few times. Not the hottest place in town, certainly not the worst place in town. Too bad there are so many posers.

New York In Minneapolis FINALLY!! – I am originally from New York, and since moving to the Minneapolis/ St Paul area I have been to a number of bars and nightclubs that were fun in their own way, but ENVY is by far the best! It is the first nighclub that I have been to that reminded me of the upscale New York nighlife that I miss and have looked for since being here. It has a very chic and trendy feel to it, and the music is refreshingly different from everywhere else. Although the cover isnt too bad ($8.00), you will for sure spend a pretty penny once inside but its so worth it. If you havent checked it out yet, you should. However if you are frugal or worried about spending too much, its not the place for you. The scene is clearly for those not afraid to drop some serious dollars and have some fun while doing it. To the Guys... iff you are looking for a place to find some beautiful women, you will def not be disappointed!

Ultimate Twin Cities Nitelife Destination---This is THE place to see and be seen. – Along with another couple, my girlfriend and I finally checked out ENVY last saturday (24 Mar 2007). We had initially been hesitant to go there the past few weeks due to the buzz about the high prices at the club, but so many of my coworkers (I work at a popular restaurant dt MPLS) strongly suggested "you have to check this place out!" Envy proved to be worth the costs involved (it is an expensive place) for many reasons, including but NOT limited to the following:

1.Incredible music---This was no doubt the best mix of music in the TC area. All the other clubs play the same music every time you go. The "Vegas Mash" as it is called is a serious breath of fresh air. Our group agreed this was the grooviest stuff we'd heard in a LONG TIME. Also the dj did the scratching thing on real vinyl. That's something just not done at clubs around here.

2.Great Service--The lovely barstaff was nice and quick.

3.Great Feel--This Place is the cleanest, most elite club I've ever been to in MN. Only other clubs can hold a candle around here are Myth & Spin. Definitely you need to experience it to believe it!!

Nothing to envy. The music's pretty hot, but the place is not! – I was there on a Friday night at 10:30. The first thing you encounter are 2 bouncers checking IDs.

The cover was $8!!

Inside I counted at least 5 other bouncers with earpeices. The place is about the size of a small retail space (which it used to be). The place was so bright because of the color-changing lucite bar. Yeah, its cool, but its so bright!

I was there with 3 girls. None of them were happy there.

We all agreed that it felt like dancing in someone's living room that tried to put up disco lights. No matter what, it just feels awkward.

Then, there was another room that opened up. It wa not well isolated from the other so the beats spilled into eachother a bit.

The lights were even lamer in the second room. There was a "bottle service" going on on this raised stage area. It sort of felt like the people who bought it were royalty and those dancing were the royal jesters trying to entertain.

$8 drinks? $16 for a double? Who does that?

Yep. Envy is just trying WAY too hard.

I've been to Rain in the Desert in Vegas and ICE. Rain has to be the coolest club in the country! ICE was just opening, and it felt lame there too- but at least it was dark. And it didn't have guys in suits walking around like secret service men.

Yes, the music was pretty good. The mainroom guy was doing this "mash-up" as they call it now days. Although everything was done with 2 Apple Powerbooks- no turntables. The CD deck scrathing was pretty cool, though.

Envy has to tone it way down, lower its cover to $5, and lower its drink charge for any of to ever go there again.
