Exceptional Private Yoga Instruction – After 12 years of a very fulfilling yoga practice I decided to take the plunge and find a teacher to work with "one on one". I had a variety of goals that I imagined a private experience would help me achieve but there was one goal that I openly coveted but secretly believed was beyond my grasp. Headstand. Every class I would take I would ask myself, is he or she the right one? I felt so strongly that this would be a very important choice and I wanted to make the right one! After a mere handful of classes with Jason I knew that he was the one. He is a very dedicated and accomplished yogi. That goes without saying. But there are many teachers who fit that bill. Jason exudes inspiration, patience and warmth. That being said, Jason is demanding. Once he assesses your ability he expects you to work at least at that level while striving to grow.
I have worked with Jason weekly for 9 months now and am ecstatic at what I have been able to achieve under his guidance and encouragement.
Oh, and by the way, I can now do a headstand.
Best yoga instructor – I have taken yoga with Jason off and on over the past five years and he has been nothing short of amazing. I have done both group sessions and private and in the group you feel as if you are getting private lessons, that is how committed and focused he is on his clients. He is always open to discussing how you can improve your life outside of yoga class as well and I have found his advice and suggestions very helpful. I would still be taking classes with him if I hadn't moved recently. Strongly recommended!
Jason is the best for yoga and massage! – I'm an internist, in practice for over 40 years in New York City. At 73 years old, with congenital scoliosis and a slight stenosis in my spine, I came to Jason hoping that with his background in both yoga and massage he could help alleviate the pain I have been experiencing for years in my lower back. I was a little bit skeptical, and a bit nervous about what yoga might entail, but had heard that Jason was quite good at working with beginners and people with special conditions such as myself.
I've been seeing him twice weekly for almost a year now... once per week for a 75-minute yoga lesson, and once per week for a therapeutic massage. I can say with all honesty that my back feels better than it has in years. I still have occasional pain and spasm, but it has diminished remarkably and I now know what I need to do on my own to help when the pain comes on. Jason is very patient with me, and is quite skilled at modifying the positions to make them more accessible for me. I came to him thinking that I was just going to find some relief for my lower back, but it has turned out to be so much more. We do breathing exercises at the beginning of each session, I've learned how to meditate, my posture and balance have improved... I could go on and on.
I recommend Jason for both yoga and massage, without reservation.
Great Massage – I have lived in New York for about five years and have been looking for a good massage therapist for so long. I am so happy that I found Jason. He has extensive knowledge of anatomy and is able to target areas that are bothering me. Jason goes above and beyond an average therapist by conducting a posture analysis and keeping track of any chronic pain or problems I have so they can be addressed each visit. He is a gifted massage therapist and is able to make, not only the massage, but the entire experience relaxing and rewarding.
among the best! – Jason is an incredible massage therapist. He has the best combination of great hands and so much knowledge, and he is always learning and adding more. I am a singer and a yoga teacher, so I have high standards for who works on me! You can't find better than Jason in NYC. And he's really nice, too.
Private Yoga – I've been doing yoga with Jason for maybe 4 years now. It has been wonderful with excellent instruction, both in yoga's physical and intellectual aspects. He understands the body, and works with it, not against it. Sure I can and do yoga on my own (I have realized that if I don't, I would be a physical mess), but there is always something new to add to my routine, to imporve my form, to embellish my understanding of what I am doing; a good leader, as Jason is, is a pleasure to follow through the yogic experience.
fantastic and gifted massager!! – being an artist/actor on broadway and london's west end, i've had massage (and PT) for many years and worked with several men and women massagers (in london, los angeles, las vegas and new york)-- mr. brown is one of the most gifted, talented and knowledged massagers i've even had the pleasure of working with.
