Vintage-modern home decor fit for film noir or cocktails uptown. – In Short
In a space formerly occupied by a trucking garage, Michael Smith (of the fabled, refinished furniture boutique Depression Modern in Soho) and Mary Corliss (former assistant curator at the Museum of Modern Art) have fashioned an elegant salon-like store to showcase glamorous pieces of decor from the 30s through the 60s. Danish modern furniture, Art Deco armchairs and 50s glassware are displayed between the small main floor and a tiny loft area, making it seem like someone's dream pied-a-terre.
Hits: This high-styled shop has all the trappings of Smith's Soho hit, without the long lines.
Misses: With such enticing vintage goods, the only thing missing is your rent check--after you've splurged on your dream bureau.
