Decent Q.
Golden Rule has good, but not great BBQ. The pulled pork and ribs are pretty decent, even though they are produced by a chain. It tastes like the bbq is cooked in an oven, or perhaps a commercial smoker, not over hot coals. The sauce is decent, but not of the local type. Golden Rule sauce is thick and sweet, unlike the local vinegar based sauce.
The service is good, the food is good, and the place is very clean and nicely decorated. If your looking for decent q, but don't want to go to a local dive, this is a good place to start. If you want REALLY good local Q, try Excel Grocery, or Cook's Market. This is a better place for casual dining with the family though. Golden Rule will not disappoint you unless you are on a quest for true local 'Q.
Good BBQ. Golden Rule is one of the only sit-down, dedicated BBQ spots in town. The selection is decent and the food is pretty good, average for a place like this. I've had better ribs, but the other meats are all good and they offer several types of sauces. Service was excellent and prompt and prices were average, maybe slightly on the high side, but overall a good place.
