Poor service, average cuisine, above average prices – My husband and I used to think fondly of Luciano's. They've done well by us in the past. This evening, hoping to catch a movie at the cinema across the street, we decided to dine at Luciano's because most of our other mainstays seemed swamped with dinner-rush crowds. Luciano's was quiet, with plenty of empty tables, which initially I chose to interpret in an "oasis of calm" way but ended up seeing more in a "sepulchral aura of a dying business" way. While cordial, our servers apparently decided that my husband and I were not a priority. He did not read us the specials list, he did not provide a wine list, and kept contact with us to a bare minimum. The food took over 30 minutes to arrive and was only of average quality, the portions sparse, and the dishes lukewarm as if they had been left sitting in the kitchen. People seated after us were served before us. My wine order was completely forgotten. I will not be returning to Luciano's, and would warn others away. There are far better places to eat even within shouting distance.
Real italian food – My mother is Italian and Luciano makes gnocchi that are exactly like hers (gnocchi are meant to be soft!). I usually order them with Bolognese sauce (meat sauce) instead of the gorgozola sauce because I am used to eating them like that.
Their homemade pasta is really delicious too. It always feel like Sunday lunch at home at Luciano's.
HORRIBLE! DO NOT GO! – Worst dining experience in a very long time.
I showed up to get a table for 5. There were a ton of tables available, on a Friday night. Not a great sign. I stood at the front desk for AT LEAST 5 minutes before any staff acknowledged me.
As they sat me at my table, there was a couple with a little girl who was crying. the accoustics in this place are allllll echooooo. No one likes a crying baby while you eat, but what the staff did to the family was much worse.
The waiter came up to the mother and said "this isn't gonna work out, you need to take her outside". The mother asked him for a bowl and he said "what do you need a bowl for", then he freeked out, put his hands in her face and screamed "I JUST NEED HER TO STOP CRYING".
I was mortified for the mother. They left the "Ristorante" and I would have followed if my party hadn't just walked in.
We orded. The food took at least 30 minutes, and they FORGOT my brother in laws entree. They whipped it up real quick in the back and it was the most bland rediculous $14 pasta dish i've ever seen. My salad had zero flavor in the dressing. It was a bacon avacado salad and there was maybe one slice of avacado and few baco's.
TRUST ME, Olive garden would be money better spent.
Took all of my self control not to ring the waiters neck who treated those poor people like that. WILL NEVER BE BACK!
One of my favorites! – I also don't know why there are so many bad reviews. I have eaten here about 10 times and love it. I like that you don't usually have to wait hours for a table. The food is great... the desserts are excellent. My only complaint would be that the tables are pretty close together, but it's not that big of deal for me.
going there next week! yum!
Bad Bad and bad – Last night we went to Luciano's as a family to have a dinner, but the waiter was very unfriendly all the time and he got very mad when i complained about the horrible chesse pizza that him brought to our table. It was the worst pizza that i saw in my life!!! Inacetable for a "italian" ristorante !!! The rest our food was already prepackaged and warmed up !!! No wonder the place was empty !!!! Very bad service and bad food!!!! Stay away!!
Very Bad – I recently took my family here for lunch. We had a terrible meal and the service was lousy. I believe the person we spoke with was the owner and he made some disgusting recommendations. I will not be back.
Stay Away – The food was edible. None of the food spectacular and at many times, it was unpleasant. To start off there is the bread. The bread seemed like it was a creature that was fighting off patrons from eating it. The bread is incredibly hard and crunchy on the outside; many of my friends thought it would break their teeth. The center of the bread was very chewy, prolonging the inevitable death of the slice of bread. The dip was a weird concoction of many things that you do not recognize and tasted "funky."But it's just the bread, right? The bread isn't supposed to be that great. The bread is important if you wait OVER AN HOUR for your food to arrive. You WILL get hungry and the bread will be your only option. Thinking about ordering an appetizer, salad or soup to fight off the temptation to eat this bread that is clinging onto survival? It doesn't help. When I got my entree, it came accompanied by the caesar salad that I ordered. The salad that I expected to be eating before I got my entree.
What about the entrees? Well... have you ever heard of a squash ravioli? I have and I've eaten one too; they're completely disgusting. The lasagna bolognese was fine. It did however taste very similar to the chef boyardee sauce and was slightly burned. The linguine and clams tasted completely awful. The clams were undercooked and there was no sauce that came along. It was literally linguine and clams. There was this other dish that I tried. I will describe it as slightly buttered noodles. It was bland and a few of the noodles were burned. You may be wondering why I ate so much. As mentioned earlier, you WILL get hungry. The portions were too small to fill my appetite and luckily, my friends were put off enough by the food that they were done eating. So I ate what they failed to finish in addition to my own order. Because nobody wants day old horrible tasting pasta.
I was still hungry after eating the main meals. So I considered ordering dessert. They wouldn't let me. Apparently, you're supposed to figure out if you want dessert at the beginning of the meal because you only get one chance to order.
Other notes: The food is expensive. The chefs are not shy to tell customers that they need to "take a massive shit" if you're in the bathroom at the same time as them.
Reminds me of Italian food on the East Coast – I am not sure why there are so many negative reviews on this site. I moved to the region from the East Coast and when I arrived at Ristorante Luciano I felt like I was at home. These people know what they're doing.
It's also somewhat amusing to be in this restaurant and hear Bellevue yuppies complain that the pizza isn't Deep Dish with Pepperoni. That is not what Italian food is supposed to be.
I'm always perplexed that this place is usually close to empty, and Maggiano's, which I find completely inedible, is always crowded.
Don't waste your money here!! – So it was Saturday night and my wife and I couldn't find a reservation in the area except for Ristorante Luciano (I now know why). We called and were given a reservation for 45 minutes later at 6:45 PM.
We entered and were greeted by a young woman in her early 20's. She was dressed in a sweater that kept pulling up over her waist and exposing her skin, blue jeans, and boots. She loudly said, "Your table will be ready as soon as they (looking at another couple) leave." I thought that was very rude as the other couple heard it. That was my first impression. Later on the hostess chewed on her finger nails at the podium.
The hostess then sat us down and did not provide us with a menu. A few minutes later she came by and asked if anyone took our drink order. I asked about a wine list and instead of providing one she said that they only sell wine by the bottle, and did not offer me the list.
Five minutes later she walked up and asked if we had menus, which we replied, "No." She the brought us a menu and we ordered from our waiter who wished he was Italian (probably Russian).
My wife ordered the squash ravioli and I ordered the gnocci. The food came promptly but was disgusting!! The ravioli tasted like it had pumpkin pie filling in it. And, the sauce on my gnocci tasted like Chef Boyardee.
The waiter never asked if I wanted a refill on my drink, never ascertained satisfaction with the meal, and seemed to just hurry us along.
PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY AT RISTORANTE LUCIANO!! This is the first review I have ever written because we were so disgusted. Hopefully, they will change or soon go out of business
Un restaurante Excelente – es uno de los mejores Italianos que he conocido desde que regrese de Italia.. las mejores pastas y carnes de toda la region..
It is one of the best
