We hand a group of 12+ attend here last New Years Eve and use one of their giant round tables. The food was great, the service was wonderful, and the price was mid range reasonable. We will be going there again NYE 2012 with another group. Ordering family style worked fine (as long as you have one math whiz in the group to divide out the bill for everyone, ha ha.).
I have ordered take out from here twice now. The good: They have been nice both times. The BAD: The first time I ordered sweet and sour chicken,only, and it cost $11.00 tax included for chicken only (OVER PRICED). The second time I ordered the sweet and sour chicken lunch special, it came with 8 lousy overcooked pieces of chicken and some egg fried rice for a balmy $7.25. You can go to Nori Presto across the parking lot and get a sweet and sour chicken and terriyaki chicken lunch special for the same price and easily four times the food. KC'S Seafood is OVER PRICED!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you have more money than sense, best to you.
Solid Choice for Convenient Chinese – I've now eaten at KC's several times both in the restaurant and take-out and I have to say they score more than they miss. We live right around the corner so it's always easy to run to KC's when we need our Chinese food fix. Being Chinese, I'm pretty picky and know when I'm gettin' the good stuff. KC's delivers on most of the dishes I've tried and is pretty consistently good. Our favorites are Mongolian Beef, Singapore Noodles, Chow Fun (Dry Style). I was a bit disappointed that my favorite dish, General Tso's chicken, was a big sweet-and-sour-tasting and somewhat Americanized rather than more authentic General Tso's like you get at a place like Yea's Wok in Newcastle. But, KC's does a fine job for those wanting decent Chinese food right in their neighborhood!
Not your typical Chinese restaurant – The seafood is wonderful. Not the run-of-the-mill fare. The pigeon is a treat for those who like a slightly gamey bird - crispy and salty. The food is of the highest quality in a homey setting. You could pay more in a more ostentatious zip code. No view of Puget Sound, but you are not paying that price either. For those of us who live in Renton Highlands, this is a wonderful treat. I recommend to all my neighbors to try this place if you enjoy high quality and fresh flavors. We need to keep this place in our neighborhood. The sauteed cod with mixed veggies or broccoli is delicately seasoned and the cod is flaky and moist - never fishy. If you want special real down-home Chinese fare that is off-menu, just ask. But make sure your group is large enough to justify the special treatment. This is a hidden gem. I hate to invite crowds, but I want this family to stay in business in my stomping grounds!
Good Chinese food and Seafood – KC's Seafood Restaurant gave Rentonian a taste of Chinese and Fresh Seafood without the drive to Chinatown. The food there is delicious and to name a few there are the crab meat and fish maw soup,honey garlic porkchops, salted fish and chicken fried rice, Soy sauce chow mein with bean sprout, honey walnut prawns, etc. I praticularly like their honey garlic porkchops because unlike many other resturant that I have tried, it is not overfried to the point that you can only taste the crunchy layer of flour with no meat, this is the real porkchops in pieces with yummy taste of honey sauce and garlic glazed over every piece of it. I disagree with the review below regarding the price and portion. Why does people have to think high prices should be big portion? Do you see Japanese cuisine serve in big portion when their price is high. Why does people have to think big portion is good? Let's think about the quality of food here please. Besides most of the dishes I named above comes in good portion that is enough to feed myself and at least two other guests.
The restaurant also offer lunch special for people who are trying to grab lunch around the area up to 3 pm as well as soup noodles. Take out is also available. Give it a try.
Revised review – This is not an American-Chinese style restaurant (such as Mayflower Restaurant near Southcenter--if it's still there--or Golden Peacock up in Fairwood); so I will compare it to other Chinese restaurants in the International District and suburbia (e.g. Bellevue). The food here is pretty good; the service is good too. However, the prices are outrageous for the portions you get!!!!! We ordered their squab and there was just enough to feed maybe a small child (preschooler). At least lower the price for something that weighs about 1.5 ounces!! We paid around $8.95 for the squab. Also, we ordered the sea bass and eggplant. Egads! This cost us ~$10.95 and we had 90% eggplant and very little fish! And the fish was laden w/ bones! If you can afford it, try this restaurant.
Sooo good. – My wife is crazy for seafood. My wife is crazy for Chinese food. We live nearby and when KC's opened around the corner from our house she said "Honey we got to go!" Little things like this make her happy so I usually go along. I was really glad that I did. The owner is a soft spoken gentleman. He and his staff seem genuinely concerned that everything is just right for the patrons. It felt as though we were guests in his home.
The food is fresh tasting, and very flavorful Cantonese style. She ordered scallops. They arrived hot but not overcooked so that they were still tender. They were in an aromatic ginger basil sauce with baby mushrooms. We have returned many times for both lunch and dinner. Great food is where you find it, and we certainly found it at KC's
Great place – If you enjoyed Sea Garden a few years ago then you love KC's. 'Best chinese food in the Seattle area and at reasonable prices. No funny taste in their dishes. Their sauces have the right consistency and are not overpowering as you have have experienced at other restaurants. Servie is great.

Best Asian Seafood Restaurant in the Seattle Area! – The Eastside has a Pearl of a Restaurant tucked away in the Renton Highlands. Very easy to access from I-405. In the same complex as QFC and just up the hill from Jimmy Hendrix's grave. Bright and very clean inside with wonderful prints of Koi & Aquariums set the atmosphere.
The Honey Walnut Prawns are worth a drive from ANYWHERE. PURE AMBROSIA. They are the best Prawns I have ever had!! NOTE: You will be Very Happy if you take an extra order home with you to enjoy later! The sauteed Cod is very sweet & cooked to perfection. The Vegetables are very fresh and are prepared to retain their color & flavor at a maximum level. The Chicken with Sweet and Sour sauce is delicate and not overpowering. All the flavors come through.
Other dishes that I have savored are Mongolian Beef, Pork Chop, Foochow Fried Rice, Chef's Special Chow Mein, Roast Chicken Cantonese Style and Hot and Sour Soup. All Wonderful!
The last time I dined there my companion was not a Seafood fan, but had the Honey Walnut Prawns and Sauteed Cod and was pleasantly surprised. She said it was her new favorite seafood restaurant and compared the Cod to Copper River Salmon.
Chef Lam is an Expert Classically Trained Chef who specializes in Seafood. He is a humble, friendly, unassuming man who has opened his restaurant after working at the Sea Garden downtown for over 2 decades. He and his family take great pains to make sure your dining experience is superb.
The wait staff is very attentive. If you love Cantonese cuisine, you'll love KC's Seafood restaurant.
