Although I did not use the Spa proper, I did use the Fitness Centre which I thought was in excellent working order, had appropriate equipment and was neat and tidy.

ZaSpa Houston – AVOID THIS SPA like the plague!!! At the moment I could not even begin to give the ZaSpa a rating. I arrived early so I could use the steam room which I asked about when booking my appt. Another woman waited in the reception area and seemed perplexed as it was after her appt time and she had been unable to find anyone to check in with. We waited for another 5 to 10 minutes after calling the main hotel number for them to find someone and send them to us to get us checked in. From there it only got worse. I was told the steam room was not working today although from reading previous reviews of this place, it looks like it hasn't been working for some time now. Apparently I was supposed to have asked if they had a steam room AND if the steam room was working. After they came to get me to begin, she showed me to my bath and said she would be back to get me. I asked her about the treatment as I was supposed to have been scrubbed and exfoliated with a special loofah, then allowed to select an aromatherapy for a nice hot bath to be followed by a massage. She said no...this is the bath you are signed up for. I was a bit puzzled but thought maybe they do the exfoliation afterwards but what about the aromatherapy for the bath water?? I got into the bath and found the water was lukewarm at best and the air in the room was cold so I was just barely warm enough in the bath. I took my bath, whirlpool on, and waited since she said she would come back to get me. She never came back. The whirlpool which was on a timer set for only 8 minutes had clicked off automatically. The water was still and cold by now, I waited as long as I could and still she didn't come back to get me. I finally got out, dressed and waited in the reception area again and finally someone came by and I asked about my massage which was supposed to be next. This woman said she didn't know and walked off. The receptionist then came by asking if I enjoyed my bath and said I had another hour before my next spa treatment - my nails. I asked her about my massage I was supposed to have and she said Oh, no, you weren't signed up for that. We went back to the reception desk and determined that I was signed up for exactly what I had asked for but there had been a mistake in booking the correct people for the treatment I wanted but she also said...we don't have that specific treatment anymore even though they booked me for it. What??? I asked if anyone was there that could at least give me my massage if nothing else, but she said they didn't have anyone there to do that today!?! (even though this was again what I distinctly signed up for). My choice now was to wait another hour just to get my nails done. By the way, they charged me $175 for the treatment I had booked for and described above so I guess by her saying they don't have that spa treatment anymore then they were trying to charge me $175 for JUST a bath!!! I was already cold and confused and had enough. None of this made sense. I asked for a refund since they charged my card already. She called the spa manager instead and spoke with him and then hung the phone up telling me that the spa manager told her that he would call me the next day!!!! The next day?!? Wow! Superior customer service, hey? HA!! I asked to see him and she said that he wasn't in today. To be continued I guess and hopefully they will refund my money!! Wow! I was so stunned I didn't know what to say! Needless to say, I left the spa without getting my nails done because I didn't want to wait another hour! I had already been there for 1 1/2 hours and all that happened was a 10 minute lukewarm bath. The worst part was that this was my birthday and I wanted to spend a relaxing day at the spa and have a nice dinner in the evening. Well, at least the dinner will still happen. Sad, sad place. I have been here before and the services were excellent. I am not sure what has happened but do not step one foot into this Spa as you will regret it!!! «

LameSpa – My husband and I had a hot stone couples massage. The massages themselves were fine (I've had better, but mine wasn't bad). But I have no idea why you would ever choose this spa for the spa itself. The locker rooms were TINY -- there were approximately 20 lockers in the female locker room and 8 in the men (both with 2 rows of small lockers). In the women's locker room, the area where the lockers are is approximately 6 by 7 feet. There isn't a bench. And the lockers are cheap cheap cheap. There is a steam room and 2 showers in the women's locker room (1 shower and a steam room in the men's). The steam rooms are not Eucalyptus. And that's it. No other facilities. No fun body scrubs (like at the Houstonian) or whirlpools or saunas. And the only toiletries in the women's locker room are the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the showers, a single can of spray deoderant and a container of mouthwash (apparently there were disposable toothbrushes and razors in the men's). But no hair products, etc. The waiting room for your service is tiny and has water -- that's it. No tea or coffee or juice. No little snacks. Nothing special. So, it's not so much that what they have is bad, it's that there's so much they don't have. I've visited many nice spas, several of which are in Houston. And I just guess I expect more. Our massages (80 minute hot stone) were $175 each plus gratuity. I think that's actually a little more than the other nicer spas in town. But you get much much less for your money. If you're already in the hotel and want a quick service, I think it's fine. But I would never make a special trip to the ZaZa for their spa.

EXCELLENT SPA!! – I was staying in the hotel and decided I would treat myself. My first step in the spa was great! I saw beautiful decor, was treated so professionally and with care. I was offered everything I could think of. The thing I liked most about this spa is that they didn't pressure me to get 50 services like a lot of other spas do. they let me wait there quietly and choose what I wanted. I opted for a massage that was out of this world, a facial that left my face looking smooth and vibrant, and a pedicure that made me fall asleep because the foot massage was phenominal! Thank you Za Spa
