girlfriend puked for almost 24 hours.. – After reading the other reviews I was expecting a better meal then I received. I ordered the wings, they were so so.. My entrée was the New York Strip, which was so tough that a Tyrannosaurus rex could not eat it. My girlfriend ordered what I thought would be a safe bet at an Irish Pub, Fish and Chips.
After we got home she spent the better part of the next 24 hours in the bathroom. So while Carpe Diem is Latin for “seize the day”. I think the better name would be “Caveat Emptor!”
A diamond in the rough... – This place is hidden away at the north end of Hoboken (uptown under the viaduct), which is an up and coming area, but this place has already arrived. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the bartender was great (awesome Mojito's in an Irish pub, who knew!!) and the food was just amazing. I had a NY strip that was cooked to perfection and was shocked by the 4 star presentation.
This is not your typical Hoboken bar, the vibe is unpretentious and relaxed and so are the patrons. I have been going out in Hoboken for years and this is my new favorite spot! Seize the day!
A gem in Hoboken.. – I have been here a few times on Wednesday nights for a burger and a beer for $6. The burgers are great and they have a good menu selection . This place is perfect for a casual date, drinks, or a bite to eat. It's a getaway from always going to the same bars in Hoboken.
Great local neighborhood bar! – I live at the other end of Hoboken and would travel 12 blocks to hang out here anyday! It is off of the main street, but has such a welcoming atmosphere so is a gem just waiting to be discovered. I've sat in the bar a number of times during the week and attended a private party there last Saturday in the party room upstairs - we had a great time. Bar staff and patrons are always so friendly. Food is fab and even when I've been there late at night when the kitchen is closed they have bar pizzas to soak up the alcohol! Compared to many of the bars in Hoboken, this is a great laid-back place for during the week with a cool music playlist on the ipod! I've also been there at the weekend where music and people are having lots of fun and dancing away. AND they do the best Bloody Mary's EVER!
Don't bother; doubt this place will stay in business – We have gone there twice in the past two weeks and will never go back! The first time we went, the place was empty (on a Friday night!). The waitress was reading the newspaper in the dining room. The food was decent and the cook came out to see if we were enjoying our meal. The menu is fairly extensive for an Irish pub, and is trying to be more than it really is. We liked it enough to go again so we went again about a week later. However, once again the place was empty. I think there were two guys at the bar watching television, and noone in the dining room. The waitress was hanging outside smoking a cigarette. The service was terrible and they were really unwelcoming. I do not know how this place expects to stay in business!
Editorial Review – Irish pub and restaurant plays music, shows sports on plasma TVs and has traditional bar games.
