Need Improvement in service and quality of food – We went three times this year. We are happy to see Indian faces in this place but the food quality is very bad. They don?t have the quality people for them. We ordered Mutton Briyani; they gave us only Tomato sauce with rice with few mutton pieces. That?s tomato briyani. We also ordered mutton curry. They used Tomato sauce and mutton piece to make this curry. Mistakenly I ordered for vegetarian curry with chapatti. They gave me chapatti and afternoon?s veg aviyal. No taste at all. This is the worst place I will never go to eat my food again in my life. You can try your better luck.
WORST INDIAN FOOD IN LA! – Sorry, but I tried to like this place. I am Indian and am quite familiar with North and South Indian food, but this place is sooooo very bad. Food quality is awful. Service is terrible. There are no real waiters--just a few Mexican guys cleaning the tables. There is an older woman who greets you at the door, but then you are lucky if you ever see or speak with an employee again. Forget about ordering a drink because you can't find anyone to order from! If you get a glass of water here, consider yourself lucky.
The food is really poor quality. I wanted to like this place and to be fair, I went there twice just to make sure I had not just caught them on a bad day the first time I was there. Both times the food was really bad. Buffet is not even worth any money at all because the food is watery, old-tasting, and greasy--seems like it is yesterday's food reheated. Also , my friend GOT REALLY SICK from eating here--a sure sign there is something wrong with the food.
There are plenty of great Indian restaurants in town. Take my word--avoid Mayura!
Getting worse these days – This restaurant was good when they started. Lately their service is not good. I was dissappointed at my last visit. Service not up to the price they charge. They do not ask you if you want a drink though it is included in the buffet. Only regular customers would know to order a drink. They do not inform you what is included in the meal. How hostile is that. It took them half an hour even to give us glasses to drink but no water. There were like 4 people servicing around and no body cared to check. The dishes in the buffet take atleast half an hour to be refilled after they are gone. They keep you waiting. I will never go there again.
WONDERFUL SOUTH INDIAN FOOD – This restaurant specializes in South Indian cuisine, which is mainly vegetarian, although they also offer some meat dishes. Many varieties of Dosa - a crisp, thin crepe with potato, onion and other vegetable stuffing. We had the spinach dosa which was delicious. Comes with lentil soup - sambar, and coconut chutney. Tamarind rice was also good. Rasam, a lime flavored soup, was very spicy. This is a very different experience from your standard Indian restaurant.
Like dining in Heaven – Let me start by saying that I love Indian food. The variety of flavors, the use of exotic spices, and the imaginative combinations of ingredients are compleletly different from other types of food. That having been said, I need to tell you that the food here is magical. I can not even imagine a better Indian meal than at Mayura. Everything is fresh and wonderful. (And very inexpensive). The service is great, parking is limited and the decor is basic but go there for the food. It is absolutely great. They have both a vegetarian menu as well as one for carnivores, and I have tried both with extremely satisfactory results. One caviat is that their kabobs are made with ground meat, so they may not be to everyones liking. Try this place, I am sure you will love it.
Editorial Review – Authentic Indian cuisine is served at the family-friendly restaurant that offers reasonable prices.
My Favorite Place For Great Grub – This is literally a hole in the wall, its in the corner of a small strip mall, easily missed. But don't let this keep you from this awesome place to eat. There are combo meals that would give you two side dishes, rice, nan - but you can get other things off of the rest of the menu. The Seekh Kebab Roll is just amazing. So is the chicken tandoori. So is the... well, you'll have to try it yourself!
