This restaurant is wonderful! – I at first recoiled when reading some of these reviews but went to Bar Stuzzichini anyway because I was meeting a friend there. What I found was a terrific restaurant. We were quickly seated at a great table, and our drinks came almost immediately after we ordered them. The service was impeccable. My chicken was delicious, my friend's salmon unbelievable and we both had rice balls, procuto and crispy asparagus for starters.. Yum. Although my friend and I are both quite sophisticated, we couldnt finish our meals and asked for doggy bags which the waiter was happy to supply us with. I had capuccino, my friend had espresso and we shared something wonderful, white and velvety for dessert. I have eaten all over the world and I must say this restaurant ranks high up there. I cant wait to go back. Kudo's to Paul, the chef and all who made our dining experience so wonderful..
It was Fine. – i was expecting a lot more from this based on the reviews. We had a great table, & our server was helpful & knowledgeable, though she'd been over sat & disappeared for lengthy periods of time. Food was fine for what it was, but nothing special. We did get some decent value wines, but nothing to write home about. I'd go back, but only for a drink at the bar & apps, not my idea of a great place for a sit - down dinner.
Makes You Furious!!!! – I picked this restaurant for a blind date the other evening. My date was great, this place was terrible. I always appreciate a restaurant when it makes the man look great when he has a "lady" on his arm. Well this place make you look terrible. We arrived with reservations on time, and despite the fact that the place was half empt, we were told to wait at the bar, and then were led to the worst table in the place. We ordered wine, and after waiting for twenty minutes, the waiter came back and told me they were out, we picked two more bottle, and both were out. We settled for wine by the glass. We ordered, and waited for 40 minutes for the appetizers, all the while were "entertained" by a loud, vulgar gentleman who was getting his food before anyone else. Turns out he was the owner! I guess the old adage that the customer comes first was foreign to him. The portions are very small, quite ordinary and over-priced. That God my date was understanding. We ended up going to another restaurant, one with much less hype, and was head and shoulders above this fake!
Very Distasteful! – I am an attorney who eats out five to six times a week. I had to meet collegues at this restaurant the other evening. This was the first time I dined here. I ordered a green salad and a pasta dish. The salad arrived, good enough, but as I ate it I noticed a "insect" in the leaves. I called my waiter over and showed the "insect" to him. Instead of taking it away and correcting the problem, he explained to me that this was an organic salad, you must be kidding, Organic or not, insects are not part of this appetizer. The pasta was ordinary, lukewarm. I couldn't wait to leave. I definitely will not be back, and I caution other people the same.
authentic, consistent, tasty ! – can't think of anything bad to say about this place.we eat here weekly, have for months.i don't get the other reviewer's complaints .... sounds like a different place than the one i know.my wife has been in the restaurant business for 26 years, owning a successful italian place for eight of those.plus,we go to italy very often.we know food, especially italian, very well.bar stuzzi is quite authentic roman style.perfect pastas, which is really hard to find.we know wine as well and the wine list is excellent, the quartino selection changes regularly and their sommalier is knowledgable and helpful.and we especially know good service,my wife's specialty.these kids are very efficient and well trained.and they seem happy.probably because they are making good money.never seen the place empty, except maybe superbowl night or such, and we like to eat late when you might expect the crowd to be over.i say you negative 'experts' should give it another shot.enjoy !
Much Hype! – Had read reviews of this place and decided to try it. I think restaurants should not take paying customers for granted, considering the amount of competition. From the arrival, I had the feeling that they were doing me a favor. The place was not busy, told to wait, and was "entertained" by a man who I think who was part of the management, he was drinking water out of a bottle and cursing at a waiter!
The food was uninspired, small portions and overpriced. We ordered a bottle of wine that took over a half-hour to come, in fact we ordered it before appetizers, and arrived after we were done.
The vibe is strange, everyone seems sad and stressed. Not a good feeling. People who gave it a good review should maybe revisit.
Seriously Overrated – I almost feel bad doing this, because the place does have a decent vibe and decor and the staff seems nice enough--however, having been fairly excited about finally seeing what everyone's been raving about, I was incredibly disappointed in what followed. I am a chef, from Manhattan, and so of course, more than just a "foodie." Starting with the apps--party of 4, we ordered the Polpette(meatballs), Arancini(riceballs), Soppressata and Zucchine alla Scapece: The polpette tasted exactly like the frozen swedish meatballs people serve at highschool graduation parties, though these weren't even accompanied by any sauce or gravy. The arancini were nothing more than than creamy rice, balled up, battered and fried--no peas, no pancetta, no herbs, nothing--came only 3 in the order with 4 people at the table and again, served sans sauce of any kind. The zucchini and soppressata were typical and fine. Tuna and ribeye entrees were both decent. My friend's Mafaldine Nepoltana was no more than room temp and my braciole, though extremely tasty, was a single roll of short-rib in a bowl of sauce that I finished in exactly 3 bites--hardly an entree. Lastly, the waiter took 10 mins to explain the wine we decided to order, took a half hour to return and apologize for it taking so long to be brought, then came back again and said they had run out of that wine...only to return again 10 mins later with the wine in hand saying he had "screwed up" and they in fact, did have it. I truly hate to bash any restaurants, but after miniscule portions, mediocre food and a $270 check, I sort of felt the need to share my very lackluster experience. Sorry.
Good customer service, even better food – I have to be honest, I was nervous about going there after reading the reviews about the poor customer service. But I didn't find that to be the case at all - the waitstaff was attentive without being overbearing, even as the restaurant got busier. The wine list (all Italian) is impressive and the food was fantastic and a great value. (Try the ricotte e miele crostini - amazing!) I will definitely be going back there.
bar stuzichini – the peple thta work here are so fu... rude thay thionk they know evrything and they doenst know how to speak with people
Rude Service – Attempted to go for dinner on a Saturday night. When we arrived and checked in for our reservation, the host was extremely rude and refused to tell us how long we would have to wait, since they were not ready for our reservation. He told us to "just go to the bar," and that he was "not a mind reader." I can't remember the last time I walked out of a restaurant based on the service, let alone service at the host stand, but the host was so incredibly rude there was no way my party was staying there for dinner. Someone needs to tell the host (who may have been an owner or manager) that he is in a service industry and should not be flat out rude to customers.
