Retro-outfitted servers deliver burgers, malts and sandwiches to your car at this '50s-style drive-in chain..
Founded in 1953 as a hamburger-and-root-beer stand, this nostalgic eatery is known for its intercom ordering system and roller-skating carhops. While servers rarely roller skate anymore, the famous made-to-order, all-beef burgers and thick malts are still menu favorites. Other signature items include Toaster sandwiches (made with thick Texas toast), extra-long chili and cheese hot dogs and hand-battered onion rings and tater tots. Desserts include chocolate, vanilla and strawberry shakes and fresh fruit slushes.
Avoid the Sonic in South Ogden. Avoid the South Ogden Sonic, horriable service, avoid it all together. I am ashamed to say the Sonic in South Ogden is a Sonic, the business is dirty, dirty windows, service is slow, takes 10 minutes to just get a drink, and the car hops clothes are dirty too. It isn't that there are not enough car hops it is that they are all inside playing around instead of doing there jobs. I have vistited it three times since it opened and it is always the same, just dirty and slow!! Go to the Layton Sonic, it is clean and very fast service!!!!!
