Professional and pleasurable experience. – I recently visited Diana's Salon for the first time as a result of picking up a very good coupon for the Salon from a neighboring business.
I was badly in need of base color and highlights and some professional guidance. My appointment was booked with Angela Haslem. My hair is baby fine, blonde and not easy to work with and not very forgiving of mistakes. Angela gave me her professional opinion, then Diana weighed in with hers and we were off with a plan I felt comfortable with. Yes I was nervous. I could not have been happier with the results. The color was perfect, but the experience was even better. Angela was attentive to all the details needed for fine hair, which I greatly appreciated. I felt she was totally focused on me and her work. I read some of the reviews about being charged $20 for a blow dry. This also is a pet peeve of mine, especially after spending a lot of money on a color service. I don't expect a "style", just a simple use of the hair dryer to determine what just happened with the color. I was quickly blown dry in 3-4 minutes and we both could see the beautiful color. After spending 17 years with my previous stylist and feeling very taken for granted, I was ready to be treated like I was an important customer again. Angela did all this and then some. Angela will be my new stylist. My overall experience with the salon and Angela was very positive and I sincerely recommend this salon.
Diana's Salon reviews have turned me OFF! – I am new to Birmingham. After reading these reviews, I will NOT be paying a visit to Diana's Salon.
Great Experience – When I moved to Birmingham, I was very reluctant when trying to find someone to cut my hair. The first three places I went to was a bad experience so I drove back home 11/2 hours to get my hair cut. It was shortly after that a client of mine carried on about Diana's Salon until I took a fourth and final chance.
The last chance paid off as I have been going for 4 years now. I am greeted each time with the up-most hospitality and offered water, coffee, cookies, etc. Cindy Tucker has done more than a great job and I would recommend her to anyone. If you are looking for a great atmosphere and a great experience, I recommend Diana's Salon!
Dianna is unbelievable! – I am not a customer of Diana's Salon. I am a happy client of Fancy Fur (Pet grooming) next door to Diana's. Jan. 2009, I was taking my dog into FF, when Diana, (herself) stuck her head out of her door and said, in a crabby tone, "Mam! Don't let your dog pee on that bush, people have to work in their with their hands!" I said NOTHING and walked on. Then the following Jan. 2010 I parked my car in front of her business and took my dog into FF. When I returned, my husband said that "someone" came out and told him that our dog SHOULD NOT PEE ON THE BUSHES. (this time our dog had not tinckled). I kindly walked in and in a low voice ask to speak to the person that had complained. Diana was standing nearly in front of me with a client and said that it was her. After I kindly told her that my dog was not guilty and to never say anything to us again about our dog. Then she began ranting that I was parked in front of her business. I indicated that she should have said so, I could have moved. She then became angry and raised her voice for me to leave. I did leave-especially after she opened the door and yelled it again. When I picked my dog up that evening, I learned that she had called the police on me, but there was nothing that they could do, being that no crime had happened. I am NOT the only one that has dealt with her rants about this issue. I did call the Landlord and report the incident.
Not anymore – I had been going to the salon for about 5 years. The last time I went in for the exact same thing, shampoo, cut and style, they charged me an extra $15 because a flat iron was used. They never had previously nor was i told ahead of time that they had started charging. That is absolutely absurd. I will not be going back there.
my Experience w/Diana's Salon-NOT GOING BACK! – I've been there a few times and used different stylists to be fair and I'm not going back!
I brought in a picture from 4 different angles on how I wanted my hair to be done; this was of photos of myself.
1st, was told that it looked like a style from the 80's; second asked if I really wanted my bangs cut that short?! (keep in mind that this was pictures of myself that I liked how my hair was). The stylist did my hair the way she thought it should be done instead of how I continued to request it be done.
She kept saying, "I really like it!", I replied, "I have to like it, too" My comments were not even heard! This cost me $150.00 (not her money)
Next, I tried another stylist there and was using a coupon; told her that I didn't want anything done to my hair that wasn't included in the coupon. When I went to pay, I was informed that it'd be $40 more because I had chosen a 2-stage hi'lighting instead of one color. I said, No, I was shown many different colors before we started, but that wasn't the understanding and re-told the clerk that I had stated that I didn't want any service that wasn't included in the coupon price! Furthermore, the stylist never put the dye close to the roots of my hair, and she told me to come back in 5 weeks for a re-do. At other salons, I generally go back in 8-10 wks. for retouch on roots and that's enough, but sure enough, after 5 weeks, my roots were showing which proves my point .
Also, Diana is always multi-tasking and you don't ever feel like you have her attention and she is always talking to the reps. while doing your hair. Scary and tired of Her chit-chat constantly!
Arrogant and Self Absorbed – Diana, the owner is arrogant and "full of herself".
You leave there with the haircut she wants for you and not at all what you asked for, all the while being overwhelmed by her constant chatter about herself.
An appointment at this salon is not about "you" the client but for her to talk about herself. I have received better haircuts at Walmart, and been treated with more respect. Prices are too high, service is inferior.
Wayyyyy Overpriced! – I paid over $150 to get my hair highlighted, which is normal however I did not get the results I asked for. I walked in with blonde highlights asking to go more blonde and somehow ended up darker. The worst part is they try to charge you another $20 to dry you hair. How can they charge you more money to see the result of what you are already paying a small fortune for?!?!?! I thought it was ridiculous. I left completely unhappy esp. bc the stylist said I got the color I had asked for but when I want to be more blonde and I leave darker I wouldnt say thats the results I asked for! Will not go back.
Friendly, Energetic Staff – I have been trying to find a salon in the Birmingham area for almost two years now. I have been to three other salons before Diana's and have actually been driving back home to Huntsville every few months to get my hair cut from my former stylist. I decided to search one more time and I am glad I did. I had Brian cut my hair and he was absolutely wonderful! He definitely knows what he is doing and is good at explaining and answering questions. Words just can't describe my experience with everyone at Diana's.
Sophisticated hair in a relaxed atmosphere! – Ever tried to find the "perfect hair salon/hairdresser" in a new city? The effort could take YEARS! But after only 9 months of asking strangers on the street "who cuts your hair?" I was directed to Diana's Salon on Valleydale Road. And what a wonderful experience! Not often have I been made to feel so welcome in a new shop. I was greeted by smiling faces, shown to a comfortable seat, offered coffee. Within minutes I was greeted by Diana and shown to her station. The conversation in the shop was jumping from Christmas decorations to gardening and I was included and made to feel at home. Diana listened and also made suggestions as we discussed my upcoming haircut. During the process she checked with me several times to see if the cut was going as I wished. I was ecstatic! Her technique was flawless and the outcome was one of the best haircuts I have ever received!
