Updated review: Disappointed at changes and additions... – Actually, you CAN get a dog, side and a drink for around $5. You can add a drink and side to any order for $2.50, and a basic dog costs $2.75 (the most common toppings are free).

The food is very good, the place is clean and cool, and the HD picture on the TVs is gorgeous. The parking in front is poor but there is a second entrance with a decent sized lot so make sure you go around back. Their menu states they are open on Sundays but they are not, so make a notation or cross it out when you grab one.

**UPDATE 3/27/08**

I was born and raised in Chicago and have tried every place in Nashville that claimed to serve "Chicago Style" hot dogs. Most did not live up to their claim, but The Dog did and I became a frequent customer. Having spent some time brown-bagging it, I recently returned eager to have my favorite. I noticed that they added Italian Beef to their menu, so instead of my usual 2 Chicago Dogs, I ordered one of each. While waiting I made small talk with an employee who mentioned a couple of things that would impact my meal immensely. He told me that they now got their hot dog buns locally and that they used Po t Roast for their Italian Beefs. The latter surprised me as that is not the way to make an Italian Beef and the menu clearly describes the meat as ?thinly sliced roast beef.?

The new buns are nowhere near as good as the old ones; they are more "bready" and harder. The hot dog itself also seemed off. They still advertise Vienna Beef, but it didn?t taste the same to me. Very disappointing. The Italian Beef was a Po t Roast sandwich. It was good, but it was not an Italian Beef. The employee had also mentioned some people not liking the Giardiniera that they used and I concur.

Everything else is the same, good service, nice atmosphere, etc. I?m sure there will be people that won?t know the difference between Italian Beef and Po t Roast and won't care about the hot dog buns, but unfortunately I cannot see myself returning now.

TOO EXPENSIVE FOR HOT DOGS! – I don't know what this guy before me is talking about. The place has good atmosphere....chili dogs were just OK.....but WAY OVER PRICED! You CANNOT....I repeat....CANNOT get a loaded dog, side and drink here for $5.00. More like $10.00. I ordered two dogs, side drink and my bill was over $15.00.

TOO EXPENSIVE....and I won't be back!

Where Else Can You Get A Great Dog? – Me and 4 buddies from work went here for lunch today. The food was fantastic. I mean, it's hot dogs. So if you're looking for gourmet, then this is not where you should go. I had a straight up regular dog with the standard toppings (relish, mustard, ketchup and onions), a corn dog (delicious coating) and tater tots. I have never had so many tater tots in all my life. One of my companions had the onion rings which he also thought were on the money. They had many cool house dogs with fun names like "Diet Starts Tomorrow Dog" and "Oye Vey" (dog and cream cheese). You can get a dog (dog, bread and topping choices), a side item (beans, slaw, tots, fries, etc.) and a drink for about $5.00. Definitely check this joint out. I know we'll all be back.

Best Hot Dog in Nashville! – The ingredients are fresh. The service is quick. The staff is friendly. And the Chihuahua dog rocks my world!! You'll need to wash it down with a cold beer though (yep, they serve it). You won't be disappointed with this restaurant one bit, and the plasma TVs are just an added bonus. The Dog is a fantastic place to hang with friends on the weekend or stop by for lunch during the week!
