Average Ramen, Terrible Service – I've eaten there one time. The ramen was okay, the waitress didn't seem to want to give me good service even though the place was dead. I've been a waitress for three years...so I know how it goes, but seriously, the service was bad.
I've come to enjoy Japanese ramen after living in LA. I would make special trips to delicious ramen bars. Since I've moved to Beaverton, I was really excited to have some more of that yummy flavor. This place disappointed me, the ramen tasted average at best. I might as well have saved $10 and went to Uwajimaya and got pre-packaged ramen -- it would have tasted better.
I tried to go back one night and I finally realized what other Google reviewers were saying about racism. The place was once again dead but since I was with a party of four average joes, the waitress told me the place would be closed all night. Which I took as code for get out because the place was dead and no tables were marked as reserved.
This place is honestly "meh" and I will not be going back. I think they must have been better a few years ago or something to have received so many good reviews. But I'm going to the Japanese store next time. Save money and not feel sad about myself!
Bad customer service and even worse food poisoning. – I've eaten at a lot of Japanese places and I love ramen. After reading the reviews I thought I had found a gem in my own backyard.
The place is small and dumpy. They really don't care to redecorate or make the place look presentable. There was hardly anyone in there on a Friday night. I kept making excuses as if the food will make up for the odor of decaying meat, but I should have known.
I ordered the house ramen. It tasted average. I drink a lot of water but I never got a refill. The waitress seemed to not care for me although I was polite to her. Anyhow, the soup almost tasted a bit sour -- I think it was old meat or something because as I mentioned I could smell something was off in the place. After waiting forever to get her to bring me my check (the place was dead), I went home wondering why so many people wrote such good reviews.
About an hour later I ended up going to the emergency room. I was throwing up and shaking. I had food poisoning. I did report this to health services and I will not be going back. STAY AWAY from this place.
An authentic isakaya – I almost feel like I shouldn't write a review -- I don't want others to know about this great spot. The style is extremely authentic and the food is excellent. This is a family-owned operation and it is clear that they try hard to please their customers.
Most food is served isakaya-style so you will be ordering a lot of smaller plates to share. Don't expect some 5000 calorie American-style super-deluxe meal, that's not what Yuzu is about.
This place is popular -- reservations are a must. The service is friendly and very accomodating. It can be a bit slow when it is full, but that is the nature of this kind of establishment. Not fast-food, slo-food. Come to enjoy and relax.
Expect a clientele of mostly Japanese (but you won't feel unwelcome if you're Caucasian either).
Good traditional japanese food. – The Food here is good. I would recommend the kimchi (I know Korean) Haramaki rolls. They are very good for an appetizer even if you don't like kimchi. They serve more traditional Japanese meals. The only bad part is that they don't serve sushi or sashimi, but the rest of their items are good and have a traditional Japanese flare.
