'laid back' is not a good description for poor service. – Waited twenty minutes to be served or even spoken to. Some regulars ...I assume regulars walk in and its all smiles...never acknowledged that I was here. Awful place. And I'm from the south were 'laid back' is king. Don't waste your time or frustrations on this place.
Best dogs in town – I love Zach's! We go there at least once a month and have never been disappointed! I have read the other reviews and everyone needs to lay off the whining regarding service. The reason you go to Zach's is for the LAID BACK atmosphere. If you need a faster service then GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! Zach's goes out of their way to make you feel as if you are one of the gang. You should literally feel so comfortable there that you talk to the staff just as you talk to your friends.
Good dogs - bad service – Exactly like the headline says - good hot dogs, bad service. The guy who took our order was incredibly rude to us. It was our first time there, we were the only people in the place and ordered a bunch of beers and hot dogs. He came by our table to give us our stuff and when I asked for another beer (not knowing I had to order at the counter) he barked at me as if I were asking him to do a backflip onto a bed of nails!
Totally insulted by the service - and will not return.
Love it Best Dogs in Ptown – Great place for after the bar food. Plus when your not drunk the dogs still rock. Keeping the east coast alive one hot dog at a time,
I'm not into saggy buns... – I've always appreciated Zach's and their SE location. Cause sometimes I crave a Chicago Dog and it's nice to know I can get run down street and get one. But, after going to Zach's quite a few times, I'm starting to lose faith a little.
My biggest gripe is the buns. Second to the hot dog, the bun is the most important element in a good dog. I'm extremely disappointed by the cheap, store bought buns they are using. I got my last dog to go, and they packaged it up in a plastic (Franz Enriched Hot Dog Buns) bag. I mean COME ON! Using flimsy stale buns you buy at Fred Meyer for your hot dogs!? Not only that, but a true Chicago Dog has a poppy seed bun. I think they should either make their own buns or get some that are of a fresher, snappier higher quality.
My other gripe is the service. The atmosphere is ok, but the it always takes so long to get served. How long does it take to make a hot dog? Also, it's kinda wierd how the employees disappear behind the door to make your dog.
Anyway, I don't want to bad mouth Zach's too much. I appreciate having them near by, but until they get some better buns and service, I'm gonna check out the other dog shops in town.
Rude service for average food – I stumbled into this place after meeting friends for drinks in the hood. Stood waiting to be served for a good 5 minutes while the staff chatted and laughed amongst themselves. Then I was overlooked as I assume, a regular customer ambled in only to be served first. I shouldn't have cared because when I eventually did get served I was pretty disappointed with what I was given. I didn't venture outside to the patio but there was a strange smell omitting from there from whoever was out there. I won't be back and don't recommend this 'eatery' to anyone.
Late night bar crowed can slow the service, but great overall – Tofu dogs with a wide variety of options!!! Beer!! Steps up from the nearby bar food, open late, eclectic young crowed. TV's can be annoying, juke box, good loud music... Great for pit stops on the SE party-bar-party circuit... Late night people watching spot.
HOTTTTTT DOG – Holy *&^% I went to Zacks and ordered this hot pepper dog. I swear I thought my lips were going to fall off. This place is awesome! I go gets dogs all over town and this is "THE PLACE".
Good dogs, great location – I love a good hot dog, and Zach's Shack has good hot dogs. It's also located a short stumble away from a lot of other good bars, making it a great late night munchie spot. The dogs are big, they offer a good variety of toppings, the beer selection is decent, and the atmosphere is nice. Worth checking out.
