Best train sushi in Portland – When I was a PSU student, I was so happy that a second Sushi Takahashi opened near campus. Sushi Takahashi (now Sushi Iciban) on Broadway & Burnside was a bit far away.

I've been to several different train sushi restaurants (Sushiville, Sushi-go-round, and Marineopolis), and this is the best cheap sushi in Portland. They even had some local albacore tuna from Ilawco, Oregon and fresh Oregon crab this past summer. The salmon is always good, and the chef is awesome and friendly!

Try the seared salmon and watch the chef whip out the blow torch. The takahashi roll is also excellent. The mochi ice cream is always fresh, unlike other places that serve it with crunchy outsides (yuck!). I have a vegetarian friend who likes the diverse veggie sushi. Two people can leave completely stuffed for $25.

Perfect sushi night out! – My cons are really reaching. I love Sushi Takahashi 2! 4 blocks from PSU campus and priced perfectly to get full from QUALITY sushi (unlike another place closer to PSU).

Very akin to the "old" Sushi Takahashi on Broadway and Couch, only less punk rock (but sometimes I like the punk rock ;) ).

Don't leave Portland with out stopping by – I'm a big fan of kaiten-zushi, which is conveyor belt style sushi. I have only been to the Sushi Takahashi in NW near the park blocks. You will usually get seated promptly and the train with all the plates on it is really cute. I've seen it derail, detach from 1/2 of the cargo and people always manage to put little notes on it that say hello or something goofy. When I lived in Portland, I was a regular for the whole 6 years I stayed in Oregon. Now when I visit, I will always stop by this place and throw down some cash. Cheap plates, good sake and the waitresses are awesome. The atmosphere is definitely eclectic and non pretentious. Worth a visit be it for lunch or dinner.

Wrong Takahashi – I'm a huge Takahashi fan so I had to make sure to help clarify for the other reviews that there are 2 in the downtown area, and the old town takahashi is the taks on NW BROADWAY not the one of 5th as that is the restaurant you guys were posting for. So, the one on 5th is tiny with no booths and just a train, and is not as huge as far as popularity as the one on Broadway because that's the o.g. one and is the best by far! The one of 5th is good too, but the original will always be a spot higher on the list for me, than the one on 5th.

Super fun, delicious cheap food – With comfy booths and a big bar with a circling train on it, Sushi takahashi in Old town is great for a relaxed date or going out with friends. The food is super cheap and you can eat forever. Yummy vegetarian sushi and delicious tempura dishes. Ordering food off the menu takes longer but you can easily tide yourself over with edamame or cucumber salad from the bar. Drinks are cheap too. Chicken teriyaki is tasty and the miso soup is a must. All around great dining experience!

Wonderful, fun place! – wonderful sushi, great people, fun atmosphere. The prices were great. And the fish was FRESH! I will go back there many many times! They also have the best choc. mousse cake ever. Very cute little place with fun people. I plan on taking all of my dear friends to this place in the future.

Best Sushi – Kashi makes delicious and reasonably priced sushi. All of the ingredients are top notch from the fish to the veggies and always fresh. There is a train going around with many dishes ready to go, but he also has a menu and you can order other things from that. I have tried many of the sushi places in town and this is the best. Service is excellent, prices great and the nicest sushi chef and helpers. I love the tempura tai, fresh red snapper lightly battered and drizzled in a spicy sauce. Also, the Sukuki....a bean curd pouch stuffed with tempura shrimp and avocado and hot chili sauce...YUM
