Happy dogs, happy owner. When I drop my dogs off for boarding, they are actually excited to go, which tells a lot about the care they're receiving. Helpful, friendly staff that really seems to care about each dog's needs. I hate having to board my dogs, but my dogs don't hate having to be boarded at Zeus' Place.
A note from Michelle – Hi! I am Michelle Ingram and I own Zeus' Place. I would like to share a couple of things about Zeus' Place. We encourage socialization and play time for dogs who thrive on companionship. We find that exercise and play time decreases stress while in a kennel environment and make the dogs happier. Our staff asks clients, when they drop their pets off, if they like other dogs and would like them to play with others while outside.
We want your pet to be as comfortable as possible while in our care. We welcome all bedding and toys from home. We ask that anything you bring fits inside a normal washing machine, since we wash everything everyday. We ask owners not to bring their pets' most prized possessions. With all the excitement, dogs can sometimes chew things that they would not normally chew at home.
We have 20 webcams through out the building and backyard. Unfortunately, due to the logistics of the building, the cameras do not cover every kennel. Any pet staying with us can be on a webcam at any given time. If you call the main business line (504.304.4718) at any time during business hours, we will bring your pet in front of a web cam so that you can see them.
All dogs get a minimum of 4 off-leash outside times per day in our full 30 X 120 secured lot. This time is either spent with other dogs playing or alone with staff. During the hotter summer months, the dogs' out times are shorter in length, but greater in frequency. We don't want any dogs to get overheated while playing outside.
Our PlayPen has 2 cameras on it. The play pen is used for well socialized dogs that come in for daycare. Often times we will put our longer term boarders in there so that they are not kenneled for their entire stay. If they get tired or overwhelmed, we move them to another kennel for rest time.
Most dogs do leave Zeus' Place a little more tired than normal. We spend our days playing with them and running them in and out. While in their kennels during the day, they enjoy chewing on their toys or watching the dogs pass in front of their kennel. If you work a normal 8 - 5 day, your dog probably spends his time sleeping and waiting for your to come home. They typically use up more energy while staying at Zeus' Place than they do when they are at home. Most regular clients enjoy their day or two of rest after picking up their pet!
I would like everyone to know that I have an open door policy at Zeus' Place. Anyone can walk through the entire building at any time while we are open (8:30 - 5:30, 7 days a week). I want you and your pet's stay at Zeus' Place to be happy and enjoyable. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please tell any Zeus' Place worker who is there. If you prefer, please free to call me at 504.231.7865.
best boarding in town--paws down! – As a dog owner that works in the animal welfare field, I have very high standards when looking for a place to care for my kids when I'm away. Zeus' Place is one of the few places in town where I feel comfortable leaving my pets. The staff is always friendly and knows my dogs and their personalities. The kennels are clean and well sanitized. The staff asks if you want your dogs put in with other dogs during playtime, or if you would prefer that they had solitary yardtime, and all the suites have free webcams. My dogs are always happy to arrive, look like they're having a good time on the webcams, and look great when I come to get them. I would highly recommend Zeus' Place to anyone looking for a facility to look after their furkids when they're not around!
Questionable service – My dog just got picked up and he is noticable stressed and exhausted. I have a tough dog that likes to play with others, but you have no idea how long they are locked up with multiple others. In the past we have only seen our dog on webcam once when we repeatedly requested a "suite" with cam. You can watch cats up for adoption all day long, but good luck seeing your dog that you're paying for. I would love to know the most dogs they have had in there at once. Bottom line is if you dog isn't able to hold it's own with a variety of breeds, it could be like sending a cute eighteen year old to general population prison. Oh yeah, my dogs bed is gutted. I'm sure he had a restful time with friends.
Nice people, bad haircut – I have never boarded my dog here so I can't speak to that, but I did get my dog groomed at Zeus'.
I really wanted to support this company because I know Michelle started this grooming/boarding business in order to help finance the animals she was always rescuing. They always have animals for adoption in the front. I think it's a great business model and the people who work there seem very nice.
However, I wasn't very satisfied with the way my dog looked after her haircut. We have a Corgi with a fluffy coat, and we told them that we wanted to trim her down since it's so hot in the summer. However, we specifically said to just focus on her chest and rear, and *not* to buzz her. They didn't listen, and instead buzzed her completely. She looks ridiculous! I could have done that myself.
Zeus' Place: Where your dog would ask you to take them. – Hands down, best and most dog-oriented place I've found in and around New Orleans. I spent weeks researching before placing my dog anywhere I deemed acceptable.
Michelle, the owner at Zeus', was willing to take my very large, very difficult, very dog-unfriendly pooch when I was in a pinch and temporarily homeless. I was even able to visit her or come pick her up for the day. Do you believe I couldn't anywhere else?
Since then I've volunteered many a day walking some of the rescue dogs housed there, some of which are moved to wire pet kennels when paying clients' dogs move in on the weekends or holidays.( I address this because previous reviewers have erroneously assumed otherwise and, I think, have way over-exaggerated "crowded" conditions.) & how many boarding-daycare facilities even do ANY dog rescue? I think that's an awesome utility of your business.
I've gotten to know the place and staff pretty well. I would, (and have) told any friend with dogs, that it is where your dog would ask you to take them.
Prior to living in New Orleans I had worked at a grooming/boarding facility & a vet's office. Did you know that some places will only allow your dog to have water at specific times of the day so that they don't urinate as much?!?
Where on the other hand, at ZP, the staff is always cleaning something when I 've walked through at various times of day, and seem vigiliant in keeping the dogs cleaned out, well watered, and making sure that everyone is having a good time. Most of the other places won't let your dog go outside, let alone in a great big backyard without a leash. Even fewer will let you walk through f a tour as they do a ZP, which I think says it all.
I've referred lots of friens there. Their dogs LOVED it, and they've all thanked me.
Even my horrible dog's tail wags when she's returned, and she doesn't even play with the other dogs. I say Zeus' Place is a sure bet. They'll take good care of you but even better care of your dog.
Great place to keep a dog! – I take my dog there once a twice a week to have doggy day care and sometimes to stay over. I have a great dane and everyone there knows him! They know their regulars and I love that about them. When I used to take my second dog there they slept in the same suite - that was so cute. I know the owner there and she has even offered to write me a professional refernce on my great dane. I love it there and I know you will too!!!!
Not too shabby, not too chic – Zeus' Place was recommended to me by several people who have kept their dogs there, and my dog went there when my normal dog care company/family (Deb's Dog Care, LLC), was unavailable. While I was a little disappointed in the overall cleanliness and organization of the place at first glance, my dog didn't seem to mind and immediately went into full play mode (he seemed to like it, before, during and after his stay).
I've never seen two dogs in one kennel (suite), like mentioned in the other review, and I don't know the owner, but my dog got his own suite and spent most of the day either outside or in the indoor play area socializing with other dogs. He is allergic to everything, and has all sorts of predispositions to ailments, but he came back to me with a completely clean bill of health. I've never heard of any other issues with sickness from my friends and their dogs.
The place was there for me in a pinch, they have competitive rates (not the cheapest, as the other review noted... I think the other person needs to shop around and negotiate a bit more), and my dog seems relatively happy and healthy there. They have plenty of other dogs to socialize with, a good outdoor space for him to run, and they have webcams where you can check up on your little guy/girl online. Check out Deb's Dog Care first, but Zeus' Place is second for me, compared to many other places I've checked out/tried.
Misrepresented - Animal Shelter Conditions – Gambit Weekly calls this dog boarding facility the best. As someone who pampers their pet, I can't say I agree. The dogs are kept two to a shelter-style concrete kennel (for company, they say, which would be much more believable if every crate wasn't full, and stacked on top of one another, even in the broom closet), cleaning supplies are sloppily stacked, the place just seems dirty, and the only dogs outside in the yard belonged to one of the employees while another worker sat outside on her cell phone. My friend boarded her dog there and her puppy was exposed to bordatella there. It's the cheapest place in town, but definitely not the best by far.
