Never again – My wife and I always love to eat at Fogo when in Atlanta, but decided to try Fire of Brazil - Downtown. What a mistake! The meat that they actually had available was tasteless. There were no refills without constantly requested them and it took a good 25 minutes for them to bring our sides. I regret we talked our good friends into eating with us. I had a total of 5 meat selections, well 6 if you include the pineapple. All in all we were very dissatisfied with the dining experience and regret I actully paid good money for nothing. Do yourself a favor and skip this establishment.
We left disappointed – My first Fire of Brazil experience was hyped up by my dining companions who had been to the old Nashville location several times and wanted to go to the Atlanta location since the Nashville one closed. We all left disappointed.
All the beef selections were VERY rare. Maybe they were intended to be garlicy, but my goodness, I would like to taste some of the beef too, not just garlic. Some of the cuts were excellent (lamb, bacon wrapped chicken, sausage, pork loin, pineapple), the filet was probably the best of the beef selections, but still just mediocre. I think every third beef offering that came to our table was flank steak (which was nearly inedible it was so rare, tough, and poorly seasoned).
Fire of Brazil is a good for experiencing a Brazilian steakhouse, but if you are going to spend $50/person for a meal, there are much better choices available.
Think Twice – My husband and I are fans of Brazilian Steakhouse. We eat at Fogo De Chao all the time. We tried Fire of Brazil for the first time this weekend and it was horrible. It is only about nine dollars cheaper per person than Fogo De Chao but no where near as good. The salad bar had no where near the amount of choices and what was there was not fresh. The meats were cold, very bland, and very, very overcooked. So overcooked they were dry and very chewy. When we talked to somewhen about the meats being so overcooked we couldn't even cut them with our knives he said to just let the server know what kind of cut you would prefer. When we tried that asking for a medium cut, we ended up getting rare!. The servers were unprofessional in there service so when they cut the rare meat at our table my blouse was splashed with rare meat liquid (if you know what I mean). The servers were obviously not trained very well in knowing the different temperatures and cuts of meat. The sausage was cold and tough, so was the ham. The service was bad with empty drink glasses and no refills on bread or sides even thought the restaurant was nearly emplty. We also had difficulty understanding the servers because they did not speak very good english and communicate very easily. We have never had that problem at Fogo De Chao, everyone there is very well trained and it is the best meats and salads you will every eat. Don't waste your time or money with Fire of Brazil the nine dollars isn't worth the difference between bad and really great, go to Fogo De Chao. We will never go back.
Convenient location – We stopped by this location on a whim. We were downtown during the ACC tournament/Elton John/Billy Joel concert, so most places were packed. Fire of Brazil had seating. My wife and I found it to be very tasty, the service was excellent and it was reasonably priced. I've read reviews about overcooked meats and inattentative service...I thought they had a good selection of meats at various levels (I like mine rare/my wife wants well done). We were both able to get what we wanted when we wanted it. Overall, fine dining experience.
Worth one visit but not a return – The Bad: the wait staff is not very attentive. The bar and drink selections are minimal. My wife ordered a white Zinfandel and got a chardonay. The good: the meat selections are varied and the style of dining allows you to try meats that you would not normally order. I found out that I enjoyed flank steak better than filet minon. The flan was very good for dessert.
Overcooked bland meat, mediocre salad bar, terrible papaya cream! – Sadly, my former favorite Brazilian steakhouse Caro de Boi has closed, so my friends and I thought we'd give this place a try. We were VERY disappointed! The first meats we got were overcooked (very well done!), and after asking several different people we finally got them to bring some that was more rare - it was in fact nearly raw, and very bland. The only exception was the turkey, which was quite tasty. Aside from the marinated brussels sprouts which were very tasty, the salad bar selections were also very bland and uninteresting. We were brought bread which I was expecting to be the usual basket of cheenies which are made from yucca flour, but instead got a wheat based substitute which since I am wheat intolerant was another disappointment. After the meal we decided to try dessert since they had our favorite papaya cream on the menu. This was the worst part of the whole experience! It looked beautiful.. but whatever chambord substitute was poured over the cream had spoiled and as we took our first bite it began to curdle the cream!! Needless to say this was sent back. Overall the experience was very disappointing and I will not be going back!
An all-you-can-eat meat palace gives the touristy part of Peachtree a little international flair. – In Short
Classy carnivores feast at this traditional Brazilian eatery that features a menu of succulently seared treats served by meat-slinging gauchos in traditional attire. While not as well-regarded as other churrascarias in the city, the flesh selection holds its own, and the bill of fare includes the usual side suspects and a stocked salad bar. The meaty menu has some flourishes and features selections such as picanha, rump steak with garlic and black pepper; alcatra, tender top sirloin; bacon-wrapped filet mignon; as well as pork, chicken and lamb entrees. A vintage vino pairs nice with the international menu, or rock the culture card with a brazen Brazilian caipirinha. If you can stomach it, a scrumptious assortment of desserts adds just the right amount of sweetness to this feast.
Authentic Brazilain Churrascuria! – Outstanding choice of atmosphere-- either within the main floor of the restaurant or the private area in the back. Excellent service with wait staff and bartender going out of their way to make you feel comfortable and welcomed. Brazilian salad bar was excellent, and the gauchos serving the churrascaria meats tableside were prompt and attentive. We visited on two separate nights (on the weekend and during the week), and each time we were greeted warmly, provided exceptional service, and had a bartender and wait staff who were comfortable and confident in their skills of their job. Highly recommend. Will definitley return. Never experienced a traditional Brazilian Churrascaria? Fire of Brazil is an authentic cultural experience you don't want to miss!
Bad service – I chose to suprise my wife for her birthday and stop in let her enjoy the great food and service that a Brazilian steak house has to offer. I have enjoyed Brazilian steak house experiences in Chicago and Las Vegas. I didn't enjoy the same experience here. We did enjoy the salad bar and the choices that were on it. I told my wife to only have a little salad, so that she could try and enjoy all the meats. We flipped over our card to start having meat served to us. After sitting and waiting patiently, someone noticed that we were not getting any service. I noticed them having the gauchos to start serving us. I didn't mention our waitress because, she wasn't around. Our glasses were empty and no meat was being served. Then the meat started arriving. It was such a fast pace parade of gauchos, that our plates were filled with meats that we hadn't sampled and they were still coming. One of the gauchos noticed our problem and politely told us that if we flipped the card back over, they would give us a break. Now the moment that we waited for, lots of meat to try and time to try it. We found that the sausage was dried up, the garlic seasoned beef was over cooked and that several other meats were dry. I understand that there is a difference in cooked meat over and open fire but this was just dry and overcooked. We decided to turn over our cards and try this again, this time we were noticed quicker and the meats began to come. Some of the meats were a little better. After trying the salad bar and the meats ( good or not ) we were now full and aggravated, so we decided to call it a day. This experience was not what I had planned for my wife. I drove 80 miles back home appoligizing to my wife for the dinner. There was other small problems so I decided to send an email out to Fire of Brazil. Their respose wasn't much better. I will try again at a different Brazilian steak house, maybe you can read that review. If you don't mind spending $100 on a great salad bar enjoy. Not Happy
Gaucho's With Skewers of Meat! And A Salad Bar, Of All Salad Bars! – A good friend took me here a couple of weeks ago, for my birthday. It's in the former location of the old Planet Hollywood, at the intersection of P'tree and International, Downtown. And how great to see the return of Downtown dining. The gauchos serving all these Brazilian cuts of meat non-stop is amazing. But what was really amazing, was the starter of the Salad Bar. We could have made a meal of it alone. In fact we are going to come back for it, just for lunch. Some of the highlights were the Mango/Crab Salad, the Marinated Portobello Mushroom Salad, Marinated Snow Pea Salad w/Thai Chili. The Pop-Over Dinner Rolls with Cheese, were to die for. Also on the salad bar was a whole Salmon in Cream Sauce w/Mussesl & Shrimp. Favorite meat was the Pork Loin with a Parmesean Crust. Service was excellent, even with the language barrier! Just wonderful!
