Great Service and Delicious! – We had a wonderful experience at the Corner office before going to a show at the DCPA. The food was outstanding especially the appetizers. The waitstaff was very attentive to our needs. My husband and I will be back and soon.
Worst dining experience to date – I wanted to share my horrible experience with the Corner Office. This place used to be a fun spot where we'd go and enjoy brunch with their make-your-own bloody mary bar and bottemless mimosas. This has all ended now that I will never set foot in this place again. The ignorance and rudeness I encountered in my many attempts to reserve a spot for a large group for brunch is only the beginning of my complaints. Not only did I have to speak to every person in the restaurant, including the marketing and sales manager (for what reason, I still have no idea) to make the reservation, I was blatantly lied to several times about the reservation having been made. I caught at least 2 people in a lie about this and never ONCE was I apologized to. Instead, the marketing manager made up some lame excuse about the reservation books being "reconfigured" which insults my intelligence to assume I'd believe her because she used a big word. Secondly, our party was told it was "impossible" to split the checks (which we requested far in advance) since we were buying bottles of champagne. Last time I checked, restaurants usually LIKE when you spend money there, instead of discouraging it. Thirdly, the waitstaff took it upon themselves to add a tip on a credit card receipt for the same amount of the bill. This was rectified once the injured party called to complain, but certainly added insult to injury. In the end, all I can say is if you want to be talked to like an idiot, lied to, treatly horribly and stolen from, you'll love the Corner Office, if not, stay away.
Delicious! – I will admit- after reading some of the reviews here about poor service at The Corner Office, I was terrified to try the place. But it came highly recommended by my brother-in-law, so my husband I decided to give it a shot anyway- and I am so glad we did!<BR><BR>
First, the restaurant itself: It is situated directly across from the Performing Arts Complex, which makes it a great choice for those looking for a place to dine before seeing a play or a show. The inside of the restaurant is a lot of fun- it has a modern feel, with sleek decorations and hip colors. <BR><BR>
We decided to grab a bite to eat before seeing a show tonight, and upon arriving at 6:00pm we were the only two in the restaurant area. The bar itself was hopping and packed full, so I can see how that could be noisy to some- but the actual dining area itself was away from the bar area. We were seated in a booth, which was comfy and cozy.<BR><BR>
The service tonight was top notch. Our waiter was friendly and attentive without being obnoxious. We even had a manager stop by our table to see how things were going.
I ordered a sandwich; my husband the steak. The food was delicious. The Corner Office does a twist on food without making it so mysterious it becomes unappealing. It aims to please both the professional "foodie" and novice "picky eater" alike. The sandwich I had (Italian parm) was huge and a didn't break the bank at $9.50. My husband really enjoyed his steak as well.
We decided to do dessert, which is a must at The Corner Office. Dessert portions are small but only $3.50 each, so we went with the candy apple eggrolls and chocolate mousse. Both were excellent and enough "sweet" without being too much.
By the time we left The Corner Office at 7pm, the dining area had completely filled up. I can see why! Great food, great atmosphere, great service. I can't say enough good things, and I can't wait to try them for breakfast!
I think you have the address wrong... – The Corner Office is on 14th and Curtis- I'm not sure why the address listed is 16th Street? In any case, I would tend to agree that the service is rather spotty. We've been twice and love the drinks and food. On our first trip, which was a Monday night after a performance at the Complex, the place was sheer heaven. Everything was done to perfection and the staff could not have been more attentive. However, on our second visit (a Tuesday night before a performance at the Complex), we sat at the bar and witnessed horror after horror- The bartender trying to read recipes for house drinks while making them (this is a cocktail bar- shouldn't he know the signature drinks by heart?), food being delivered to tables even though part of it had fallen on the floor, servers backed up for miles at the bar because the bartender was overwhelmed, people walking out after waiting to be served for 15 minutes or more...It's possible it was just a bad night and I'm still rooting for them. The best thing to do in a situation like this is give the place one more chance and/or write to the management about the problems. Chances are, they are eager to fix mistakes.
Where the beautiful people go – Since when is it no longer ok to be loud in a bar??? Isn't the whole point of going out to enjoy great drinks, hang out with your friends, and not be afraid to show other people you are enjoying yourself?? I happened to be sitting at the end of the bar when this all happened. What the woman fails to mention is that there is an entire 2nd half of the restaurant that is meant for dining, rather than cocktails. The poor manager had 4 grouchy woman screaming in her face while she was attempting to make them happy. I know for a fact that she did more than offer to send them a couple drinks. I overheard the woman offering to pay for their dry cleaning, move them to the other side of the dining room, and to pay for some of their drinks to make up for it. The gentelmen * i'm assuming the one who splashed champagne on them* came over and apologized and placed a large sum of money on the bar for the women to take for the woman's jacket. One of the ladies then started to scream obscenities at the gentlemen in the middle of the bar that she believes should be quiet all night, and it looked like they walked out on their bill all together. I think its funny how people these days fail to mention what actually happened, verse what they wish would have happened to make up for their innappropriate behavior. If they were the only people sitting in the cocktail area, which they were not, how did they get sprayed with champagne, and who was screaming?? That restaurant is better off with not having any of those crotchety women (who are already pi$$ed off at the world) come back, and maybe then my night won't be ruined by rude people all together as well. Oh yeah, and since when does champagne stain black jackets from K-mart?
Great idea...bad execution... – my sister took me here based on her last visit (which was two days prior). she raved about the food and we could see from the decor that this could be an interesting place to spend our time. an apathetic waitress came to the table and took the order. we did not see her at our table for 15 minutes (we did however see her talking to a fellow worker for about 8 minutes though)
we moved to a larger table in the cocktail area and ordered food. it came out fine....our drinks were fine, the surroundings were fine, the only thing that wasnt ok were the fellow patrons. no supervision was going on, they were screaming every five minutes (seriously, im not joking here and i later learned that there is some student housing upstairs which could explain this behavior). sure, it was friday night, but we were the only other people in the cocktail area...where was the manager to tell these baffoons to shut up?? then another party came to sit in the area. they sprayed us with champagne, completely. all four of us. we asked to talk to the manager. she was young. she did not know what she was doing. she left us with the sense that this bar doesnt know what the hell it is doing by the people they hire. all we asked for was for the "man" to be kicked out of the bar. her response: THIS GUY SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS UPSTAIRS IN OUR PRIVATE ROOM...IM NOT TELLING HIM TO LEAVE...CAN I BUY YOU A ROUND OF DRINKS? wow..i was left with the feeling that i should tell other people about this experience.
oh yea, im never coming here again...and my sister was going to take her clients here, but shes not going to do that either...
if you want to spend money...dont waste it on bad service! in theory this place works, it has a great space, great pricing, great menu...it lacks people to run it properly. great idea, pi$$ poor follow through.
Best Night Out IN Denver – I'm not sure where that woman was dining but i personally had an amazing time. The drinks are unique that you will not find anywhere else, it was completely packed, our food was excellent and not a bit of it was cold. I did speak with a manager that looked young that came up to our table just to check in, and could not imagine her having an attitude to anyone unless they were rude themselves. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone that is looking to have a good time and try something different.
Good food, terrible service – I went there a few weeks ago with my fiancee and was very impressed. The staff was friendly and fun, one of the male managers chatted with us and I had a lovely conversation about private dinging with him - as he is in charge of it. I was psyched to go back and try more of their fantastic food and drinks, but was in for a really surprise. Awful service! When I walked in, hardly any one was there - very dead. My food came out late and cold - the hosts were rude when seating me and I was very disappointed. I asked to speak to the private events manager that I had spoken to in the past, to pass on my feedback, and was told he was no longer there - I can see why, I'd be running from that place too. When I asked to speak to another manager, a woman came over, that looked about 14, and had a complete attitude. She obviously didn't care about my feedback or frustration with my cold food - she just basically shrugged me off. In fact, while I was explaining my previous experience she interuppted me by grabbing another server walking by and giving her direction. We left our food, practically untouched, and with a 20% tip to a server that was honest and sincere in apologies. I will have a hard time going back to this place, but am sincerely disappointed in the service, since I had such a wonderful visit the last time. Considering that this place is so new, they better get their act together before it falls apart completely.
